Sharing because I can’t share with DH…

Took me five years to get a diagnosis of inattentive type ADHD for my DS, now 12. He started medication just after October half term. I asked his teachers for feedback via the SENCO. As I can’t share with late DH, here are some of their comments:

"I was wondering what had happened to him! He has completed more work than he has done for the entire year. Absolutely brilliant. He really seemed to enjoy the lesson too which was really nice. Worked really hard"

"He only needs one instruction now and gets on with it. He is on time, and works for the whole lesson without drifting off"

"For me there is a significant and sustained improvement"

"He is completing much more work than he used to and is taking better care of his book"

"He makes good choices - if a pupil irritates him he asks to move away"

"More focused and productive"

It’s the start rather than the end of a road but I am so delighted. Widowed parenting is NOT easy but maybe I’m getting some things right after all Smile

It's so lovely when they get help and then the massive change

My son went from last chance saloon, to A, A* after he was diagnosed and received medication. The teachers cou don't believe it

That's great.
Widowed parenting is really hard and I am only 3 months in to it. It probably doesn't feel like it to you, but it looks like you are doing brilliantly.

Flowers for you, I bet you are too. So sorry you’re having to do it.

Things get pretty stormy with DS at home and I know things aren’t going to be plain sailing from here on in, but it’s the first step in the right direction for a heck of a long time.

Meanwhile my DD is teaching the cat Latin on Duo Lingo. We are a talented household Grin
