Sharing because I can’t share with DH…

Took me five years to get a diagnosis of inattentive type ADHD for my DS, now 12. He started medication just after October half term. I asked his teachers for feedback via the SENCO. As I can’t share with late DH, here are some of their comments:

"I was wondering what had happened to him! He has completed more work than he has done for the entire year. Absolutely brilliant. He really seemed to enjoy the lesson too which was really nice. Worked really hard"

"He only needs one instruction now and gets on with it. He is on time, and works for the whole lesson without drifting off"

"For me there is a significant and sustained improvement"

"He is completing much more work than he used to and is taking better care of his book"

"He makes good choices - if a pupil irritates him he asks to move away"

"More focused and productive"

It’s the start rather than the end of a road but I am so delighted. Widowed parenting is NOT easy but maybe I’m getting some things right after all Smile

Well. I WFH today and cried between meetings whilst working.

But I never give up.

So sorry for your loss. You and your son are doing amazingly! Congratulations to you both! Hope he is feeling empowered and inspired by all the positive feedback (ok, that sounds stupidly corporate but I hope you know what I mean).

That is lovely news. Well done to you and your dc, and extra commiserations on your lovely dh's death.

tunnocksreturns2019 · 15/12/2021 23:25

Thank you Smile

I have had small celebration with a glass of Wine whilst present wrapping, and I might have tucked into some Piper’s Cider Vinegar crisps which were actually for Christmas Blush

DS accepted a small chocolate orange snowman earlier but didn’t actually want to hear the praise. It was an “Oh really? Look at this amazing thing on YouTube” moment Grin
