Salt lamps. Bollocks or ion particle cleanser?

DD has asked for one for Xmas. Apparently if I transfer £20 to her account, she will pick one up fromTKMAXX and her and her boyfriend will keep it for the flat they are planning to rent next year.
He is properly in tune with his body, vegan, meditation, chanting, —vaccination refuser—.
I am not fussed either way, it won’t break the bank, but I am curious

Bollocks but look nice

Bollocks but look nice
Yes ^
FourTeaFallOut · 15/12/2021 15:57

It's bollocks, it gives a lovely warm light though.

OnlyAFleshWound · 15/12/2021 15:57

She's 20 and living with an anti-vaxxer who is 'properly in tune with his body' - i think you have bigger problems than a crappy lamp here.

Mydogisagentleman · 15/12/2021 16:09

@OnlyAFleshWound. Indeed.
Lovely lad, but worryingly concerned about fluoride and surveillance amongst other things

Should add, they are not living together yet, that’s planned for next June or July

Let me guess he won't take the vaccine but smokes weed?

doitwithlove · 15/12/2021 16:13

I have read the salt lamps leak water, maybe google reviews.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/12/2021 16:13

Doesn't everyone have a raving hippy in the back catalogue?

bollocks, but also harmless, differing from being anti-vaxx. I have a few around the house, very useful as night-lights as they give a lovely warm soft glow. SO I can confirm that they increase glowing.

OGenkiDesuKa · 15/12/2021 16:15

We have several just because they look nice. They need a dish under them though as they leak a lot!

Lushplease · 15/12/2021 16:15

I have one. It looks beautiful but I don't think it does anything else at all.

enjoyingscience · 15/12/2021 16:15

Absolute nonsense, but not harmful. Unlike the boyfriend, by the sounds of it.

They leak? Doesn't this make them a hazard? I've never noticed mine leakingConfused

None of mine leak, I'm not sure they are supposed to.

FourTeaFallOut · 15/12/2021 16:17

Mine doesn't leak. I did have too much to drink and licked it once out of curiosity.

HollyChristmas · 15/12/2021 16:24

Awful if you have pets apparently . Dogs / cats can lick them and then have problems due to salt overdose.

inthekitchensink · 15/12/2021 16:30

Mine doesn’t leak, and it’s very pretty with a soft warm light. I do lick it though, much tastier than other lamps

TankFlyBoss · 15/12/2021 16:30

@FourTeaFallOut 😂😂😂

Itsalmostanaccessory · 15/12/2021 16:34

They sont produce anywhere near enough of the ion things to make any sort of impact. They ran experiments to measure the output in a closed lab and it was minuscule.

So, bollocks but give a lovely glow.

Perhaps by then his teeth will have fallen out thanks to anti-fluoride stance and she'll have a change of heart. Fingers crossed for you!

This happened to us! Kept having puddles of water under them!
doadeer · 15/12/2021 16:39

Loved mine but my toddler kept licking it so I've had to put away

Sparklfairy · 15/12/2021 16:42

If you keep them on all the bloody time they don't leak. If you have them off and it gets humid inside then they do leak.

Pets can lick them too and its really dangerous for them.

They're pretty though, I have three. Stored away in a box at my mums house Grin
