There is filing happening chez nous.
I have been asked to find the hole punch (my hole punch not his, which is on his desk) , a new empty file (in his office), the shredder (where he put it to use it) Grin

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 16:40

Sounds promising Prok Must be the hour as mine has not only filled 2 washing up bowls but I have heard the garden door open and close a lot. I am baffled what requires door closing every minute but things maybe happening.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 16:41

I can hear DH recruiting DS to help, I guess silkies are incredibly heavy and not all fluff.

Operation move silkie is complete, she has been brought inside, bathed, towel dried and now in living room. Have turned heating up for her though dh turned it back down a bit Hmm All quiet in living room which hopefully is a good sign.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 17:15

Is there any chance of a silkie (and rabbit) picture (non identifying of course)?

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 17:42

They have not been introduced yet, dh managed to sneak the silkie in without rabbit or cat noticing in a box and then put its pen behind the sofa by the radiator so she can dry properly quickly. Its now silkie bed time but as soon as introduced if going well will put a picture up. At the moment dh sent me a picture just of the silkies bottom. He said she was fine with being bathed and fine to come inside, will have to see tomorrow if she is fine with a hyperactive rabbit. I want her pen moved to centre of living room but dh is arguing he does not want our house to look like a farm yard and he will leave if it does. He made similar threats over giant teddy bears for ds 10 years ago though then we compromised on car penguin not sure he would agree to car silkie.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 17:46

I'll wait, and I bet a house looking like a farm yard is more fun than a flat looking like an exploded archive.
(whispers) There might be a chance that I get a table back, a small Lack one in white.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 18:04

I have just pointed out to DH that traditionally our house was a farmyard so we would just be restoring it. I feel him weakening, think he is tired again. Wink

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 19:05

Prok I told DH that you said you would like to live in a farmyard house and its an aspirational thing which would make him interesting. Wink He seemed slightly persuaded and smiled and laughed at least. He took another nap and is now playing piano, we are having a roast. Dd is still out. I have done my exercising for today. Need to prep for 2 hour video call tomorrow for DSs ehcp, have warned them will be in onesie, not allowed to bathe still and still have the very attractive dvt stockings, come off end tomorrow. Talk of the devil DD is back.

Nydj · 30/01/2022 20:53

A lot of excitement and activity for people on the thread - from snowy storms to baby’s first word (so wonderful!) and actual filing of papers to moving of bereaved Silkie hen into the house! Makes my feeling a bit under the weather this weekend seem very tame.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 21:11

@Nydj DH is still filing away. I hope you feel better on Monday!

DD and I have been discussing: Lots of lovely dishes have made their way to Europe from all over the world. Has any non European cuisine adpoted the brussel sprout? (Which really did originate in what is now Belgium.)Grin

HelenaJustina · 30/01/2022 21:34

Prok I’m delighted by the filing, organised is my natural state. I’m currently sewing badges on a Cub jumper, I’ve had 6 nights to do this and have failed but DC4 needs it for tomorrow.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 21:39

Hope you feel better soon Nydj.

Prok I thought chinese cuisine included brussel sprouts though not 100% sure.

The silkie is now asleep. Rabbit still has not noticed though wonder if there will be an encounter in middle of night.

DH said DS has been very sleepy past couple of days, he had 2nd vaccine just before so probably just that but will see if he improves tomorrow. He is very thin, normally very healthy though. He was too tired to take a bath and is barely moving but not sure how much is teenage boy and how ill he is. The sleeping all day for 2 days is definitely not normal.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 21:45

Silkie DS has very sleepy phases usually after something stressful.

The Chinese YT channel I follow never once used them, but China is big, so who knows. It is not served in the mensa of the university of Kerala. DD asked her friend.

DH only deals with the papers because he is procrastinating on an article he needs to write. Hah! Grin

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 30/01/2022 22:02

We officially had 13" of snow and it was very windy but we didn't lose power. The snow has drifted a lot so we've dug out 2 cars, snow blown all the bits that the snowplough can't reach, cleared in front of the doggy door, shovelled the deck, and burnt about a cord of firewood.

I'd happily stay home forever at this point.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 22:04

I could find receipes online for brussel sprouts in chinese but sometimes receipes in a country are geared towards that country like French Indian had cheese naans.

DS normally has night terrors if stressed and normally hides in bathroom so do not think its stress as was only doing that once. I will feel reassured if he goes to school tomorrow. DH has a friend in France whose child needed a heart operation after their vaccine though DH said they were given wrong vaccine, given Moderna by mistake. Its just worrying when DS does not communicate though its probably a 48 hour thing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 23:31

My Chinese is non existant so I agree with you and put down a yes for China.
The answer from Thailand is still out.

DH still filing!!!

Silkierabbit · 31/01/2022 00:29

My DH now has insomnia, nothing to do with his all day napping of course. DD went to check on silkie, rabbit and DS and reported DS and Silkie sleeping and rabbit eating but still clueless than a chicken is in its midst. DH and I disagreed whether the silkie needed an indoor house, DH went for money saving option of giving it a rabbit house rabbit does not use. I ordered one as its a chicken not a rabbit and good I did though its delayed until tomorrow hopefully as silkie wont go near the rabbit one.

MissConductUS · 31/01/2022 00:37

ZZ, thanks for checking in. I was wondering how you made out with the storm. We Zoomed with DD tonight. She said they got 8 inches of snow and didn't lose power.

I really don't like brussel sprouts. 😝

HelenaJustina · 31/01/2022 06:23

I’m a relatively recent convert to sprouts. I have a ‘spicy harissa sprouts and broccoli with halloumi and spinach’ recipe and another for ‘crispy tamarind sprouts with peanuts and shallots’ which are both delicious

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/01/2022 06:49

Almost everything especially sprouts tastes better with a hot sauce.

Silkierabbit · 31/01/2022 08:36

DS was much better this morning, had a bath and off to school and moving at a reasonable pace. The rabbit was discovered at the top of the sofa above the silkie so we think he spotted a strange bird in his midst last night though at least both appear calm about it.

My chicken house and big mat for chicken just arrived. DH gave the silkie the house and said she made lots of very happy noises and did a house inspection. Rabbit was also interested so maybe should have got two. 🤣

Silkierabbit · 31/01/2022 13:21

Rabbit is now by French doors watching the silkie quietly curious as to what this creature is. Silkie was sitting as far away from rabbit as possible this morning but is now pacing the pen and getting closer to rabbit though DH says when he enters the silkie hides when she sees him.

Had 2.5 hour meeting for DSs emergency ehcp review, not very hopeful tbf.

Champagneforeveryone · 31/01/2022 14:28

I've just been to the dentist and bought an ironing board. I always imagined being an adult as far more glamorous than it's proving to be.

RedWingBoots · 31/01/2022 14:55

My 3 year old, who is nearer 3 than 4, learnt to ride a bike 3 weeks a go and realised this morning she can actually ride it when she cycled around a couple of corners. As a result she wants a bike lock.
