Housework not yet started, but have booked cinema tickets for DC for tomorrow morning, so basking in their approval. Going to drag 2 out on a long walk soonish as they are training for a Scout endurance event.

Silkierabbit · 29/01/2022 14:08

Our neighbour came to give us a jar of homemade marmalade. He knows Paddington Bear lives here.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/01/2022 14:12

Miss I have discovered I do not like it either. Grin

miss DS is at the horse racing at Cheltenham, it's the trials for the Cheltenham Festival in March (now infamous as a super-spreader event in 2019) It's his first time and by the sounds of it he's had a ball.

New church is CofE. It apparently has a regular congregation of over 200, a stark contrast to our current village church which regularly has 15.

Lemonsandlemonade · 29/01/2022 20:26

Have to say am not a sushi fan it’s too fishy for me. I realise it is fish 🤦‍♀️

Lovely snow picture… I remember being a child and every year we would have loads and loads.

Proud mum today. Ds said first word and pulled himself up with help of sofa.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/01/2022 21:03

Lemon Congratulations to your DS!
Yes, sushi is incredibly fishy and the texture is - interesting. But then there were shrimps in an oat flake mantel, which were really nice. DD had more sense than me and ordered a chicken, vegetable and rice dish.

Very windy here with a storm warning.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/01/2022 22:45

Yay for babylemon !

In no time at all he will have rolled in from the races, slightly drunk, rather tired and having had the time of his life - you will then wonder where that small boy has gone

mathanxiety · 30/01/2022 00:23

What a lovely thing to happen, Lemons. Onward and upwards, BabyLemons!

Prok how nice to meet up with your brother after so long.

I surprised myself by loving sushi, though I am allergic to avocado so have to watch out for it. We have a nice sushi place locally. I wish it were more affordable - it's strictly for Special Occasions. I don't trust supermarket sushi.

Nice upstairs neighbour took my shovel and did all the shoveling front and back after our 8 inches of snow.

I had a lazy day today, dyed my hair, cleaned the bathroom while waiting for the timer to ding, managed not to smear dye on the towels as I did last time Blush.

MissC, I hope the storm doesn't cut your power or strand you in the house.

MissConductUS · 30/01/2022 00:32

Thanks, Math, we have survived. We haven't lost power and only had about the same amount of snow as you have. DS in Boston got 24 inches of snow, but so far has kept power and can walk to the dining hall, which remains open. After the snow ended we had this lovely sunset. It is still bitter cold and windy.

Champagne, that will be a change. My Episcopal Church (Anglican/CoE) gets about 60 on a good day. Services are remote tomorrow due to the weather.

Lemons, that's fab! What was his first word? My son's first word was "cookie". Smile Now that he can pull himself up the game has completely changed.

Great news!

We had a blazing red sunset here too but when I noticed it I had nothing on my feet and didn't feel like booting up and going out to the deck to capture it.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 00:51

That's lovely Lemons Grin Bear

DH mowed all back garden and our lane in preparation for operation move silkie which I thought would be complete by now.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 00:55

Also collected from pets at home the things I bought for the silkie to go in the living room and living room is pretty set up now so ready to go into operation catch silkie tomorrow, its the flighty one.

Had 2 slices of the lovely neighbours homemade marmelade and toast for lunch then fish, chips and beans from the fish and chip shop from dinner.

Also booked first hotel for Scottish stay, I caught DH when he was sleepy so easier to get him to agree.

Champagneforeveryone · 30/01/2022 01:04

Excellent work silkie , some of DH's boldest decisions have been made while either half asleep or a little tipsy Wink

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 01:08

Yes I can recommend half asleep as a good time to get decisions made by indecisive DH, he just said book whatever makes you happy.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 09:29

DH is the "think about all possible options"-type, being half asleep does not change this. All the best to Ruth!

Berlin record for snow stands at a 15 cm. Which is fine, because owners/renters are responsible for the safety of the sidewalk in front of their homes at all times. My place has a caretaker, but my DSis has to go out and do it herself and for her NDN because he is very old.

Berlin has declared a "state of emergency" because of the wind damage. So I will stay in and do the ironing (or nothing).

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 13:02

It is most unheard of for DH to make a decision in only a week. In the past I have had to have a slipping finger which accidentally books holidays otherwise everything decent would sell out. In fact DH first told me last night he wanted option 1 and had to point out now sold out. DH spends weeks deliberating then decides he wants the first option every time where we have stayed before but we always have to go through this saga mainly as dh wants to go on holiday but thinks they should cost 50p. So he does a fruitless search for that. I did manage to get 2 discounts on one I booked so maybe that swung it but suspect was just tired and in pain in his back. He always has pains after mowing the lawn which require a day in bed of whining. DD was asking was his whining real or fake. I think its real though did say it came on after reading a book about back pain.

Anyway it is now 1pm and DH has managed to get up and dressed. I am hoping for operation silkie today though speed DH is operating at is concerning and DD has gone out for day. DH did move sofa to make a safe space for Ruth but DD said rabbit found that most exciting and jumped into it.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 13:49

DH has set up the pen we have to keep the silkie seperated from rabbit initially, well that was the idea but rabbit is hyper and super excited about his new toy so not sure this plan will work. Its also started off a fresh wave of huffing, puffing and whining from DH and the 2 minutes involved I suspect will require a 2 hour nap then will be dark and DH will declare it too dark again. But are making progress at least.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/01/2022 14:11

Silkie Grin Chickens go to bed early.

@nydj I was suprised to see lever arch folders (Ordner) appear on tables and sofas. I assume some type of filing will happen in the next fortnight.

MissConductUS · 30/01/2022 14:11

Good luck with your rabbit and chicken challenges today, Silkie

My weather station stopped reporting data to the console I have inside last night, which meant that it was no longer feeding said data to the website I use to view it remotely. I brought it inside this morning to troubleshoot. It uses three AA lithium batteries and two of them were dead. The weather station has some photovoltaic cells it uses to keep them charged, but eventually, they wear out. Fortunately, I had two replacements so we are now back in business, from a meteorological standpoint. I've ordered some more from Amazon and when they come I'll replace the one that was weak but still functioning.

I've just texted DS to ask if he still has power. He may still be asleep or off getting breakfast. Some areas around Boston got 30 inches of snow.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 14:21

As predicted DH is now requiring another nap, seems to be 1 min of activity equals 1 hour of nap required but 10 mins of whining today. He also only got up at 12.30pm and needed a nap before 2pm. Sloths have operated at faster speed.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 14:24

DS has now had neighbours marmalade and really likes it, we have nearly finished the jar already.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 14:27

DH also informed me that mowing the lawn traumatises the chicken. I suspect his aim was to never mow the lawn again but I said that is why its important to move her in as its the anxious silkie left, the white one used to put her wing round her. I have also taught dh how to talk to the silkie, she talks to me but is scared of dh as he is far too loud a chicken but I am taming him.

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 14:34

The weather also looks really promising for our Scottish trip. Hmm Its fine here, chilly but calm.

HelenaJustina · 30/01/2022 15:50

I’ve walked to and from Mass (6mile round trip) DC all went to see Encanto late morning, everyone has eaten lasagna for a very late lunch, I’ve done the lunchboxes and the ironing. Just kitchen cleaning and bed remaking to go…

Silkierabbit · 30/01/2022 16:16

Dh has just got up from his 2pm nap, 2 hours later and now is filling 2 washing up bowls for operation silkie. I fear another nap coming on and its nearly dark, well maybe 45 mins to go and catch the silkie may be involved.
