Hope you receive good news Tuesday Silkies. I had cryptic notes!!

Have sent work related emails already this morning. DS having a daddy day.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2022 07:35

At schol I could turn F into C into R in my head. But not anymore.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2022 10:43

Math It has not been that cold here for a while now. If it gets cold it usually goes down to the -10-15°C but not deeper. It depends on the "Siberian air bridge".

Silkie I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed.

I have as tradition demands started to take down the Christmas decorations. Christmas trees are collected seperately and the trees are delivered to the zoos - some animals can and love to eat them.

@caringcarer, congratulations to your brilliant foster son. My son started exceeding expectations at about the same age. It's so gratifying.

Champagne, those are the trials of house hunting. Do post the links to the remaining contenders if you feel comfortable doing so. No help on the admin, however. Just get a good solicitor and mortgage broker.

I'm WFH this morning, then taking the afternoon off. I have four days of annual leave from last year I have to take before the end of the month or I'll lose them.

We've had our first snowfall of the season. It's almost over now. I think we'll get five inches by the end. The birds are queuing at the feeder. Fortunately, DS is still home to help with clearing the snow.

Thank you all. I now think the cryptic notes just mean I had an injection that day pre operation so does not reveal anything either way. I am glad its brought forward to 11th as its looking very lumpy now and hurting a bit so best to get it checked. Am dreading the results, know they are bad its just how bad.

Lovely to see snow though quite glad we have not got it here yet as it killed one of our silkies last December. Though now we have built up several layers of woodchip and DH cleared the chickens co-op today. Silkiecat got very excited when DH said he was going to do the chickens, of course just hearing the word chicken and thinking lunch, fortunately she does not realise the silkies are chickens as they are so fluffy. He is now off to get my Boden parcel with my cashmere jumpers and cardis, silk pjs and a woollen dress in, am hoping they are all soft. They were so kind refunding my other two orders before they have them back, I said it was fine to wait but the lady was no I am refunding them now as you have enough to deal with and she did it within an hour at midnight. He is getting a Chinese takeaway from my preferred Chinese on way back.

DS and DD both went to school. DS is quite subdued and still has not opened his birthday present though has eaten huge quantities of the chocolate mouse cake I got from the bakers as has DD plus was very happy with the new remote control and now watching TV again as well as ipadding. DD went to orthodontist.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/01/2022 19:58

I have had enough Grin: DS room is now clean (more or less) I removed a 10l bucket of dust from his floor. The idea that -> drop biscuit crumbs -> create a buffet for little bugs -> create a buffet for house spiders does not reach his brain. And he has a problem with the hoover 'too loud it hurts' and the broom ' texture'. I also briefly contemplated the idea to remove the wardrobe and give him a large bath tub instead for his clothes.

sproutsandparsnips · 07/01/2022 21:45

Enjoying catching up again.
Work has been very challenging this week, but I have managed to get a shift in my new job to be. Now to get a start date proper!
Just sitting in front of the fire for the first time this winter. Nowhere near as cold as Miss or Math though!
In other news I have written approximately 200 words of my dissertation.....

HelenaJustina · 07/01/2022 21:49

Well done @Prokupatuscrakedatus enjoy a restful Friday evening! Good luck with the new job @sproutsandparsnips it is freezing here too. DC4 had football training this evening and it was bitter.

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 00:53

I was ignoring Duo's increasingly grumpy messages like your Russian won't do itself Hmm felt like replying no nor will my cancer treatment, shame that Grin. Now just went on and did 1 lesson and it said we have a free gift for you so its obviously resorting to bribery like a toddler parent who is desperately trying any strategy.

I am watching some trash TV under my fleece duvet in my koala onesie. Been trying to improve things for DS and have been contacted by a lovely lady in the same boat locally.

Tomorrow is rain all day here not that makes much difference to me as everyday is hide indoors to avoid covid day atm though quite happy indoors, looks miserable out. Have had to ease back on the exercising as I got pains but hope to be able to resume soon. Had lovely satay prawn from chinese then pineapple fritters. DS was very happy with his mixed starter box. DD said I have already eaten but I will just have a veg chow mein, she still manages to be thin. Have will appointment on Mon, biopsy results on Tuesday and dentists on 15th, non-stop fun here though am lucky don't need to work atm so can just do whatever I like inbetween.

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 00:59

Though Duo is teaching me useful phrases like Пожалуйста, купи шоколад. Please buy chocolate. Only I hope its improved from the East Berlin coffee chocolate I had in 1992 which I still suffer flashbacks from.

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 00:59

Sorry 1991, Feb 91.

mathanxiety · 08/01/2022 02:38

DS texted me this morning from an urgent care clinic where he was being tested for strep. Thankfully that is what he had, and he opted for a penicillin shot in the butt cheek instead of ten days of horse pills. He's been pretty unwell for the entire Christmas break, first a mystery virus which wasn't covid, according to multiple rapid tests and one PCR test, and now strep. He may well have been what my mum calls 'run down' after the virus.

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 03:04

Hope he gets better soon Math horrible when you get back to back illness but think sometimes your immune system goes down if you get a nasty first one. Its constant illness with that age group here atm - thankfully DD is mainly just socialising now with a boy whose mother she said is ocd and disinfecting everything (I am so grateful to her, DD was Hmm) and she has managed to stay plague free since September. School had 1 in 5 of the staff off all December and the 6th forms are now not querying absence below 80% as its common and I think they prefer students who stay home with covid to the ones who just go in.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 08/01/2022 05:14

DD made me laugh today. She’s in residence halls in Chicago, and has to walk about 10 mins to pick up food, then 10 mins back to her room. It’s unbelievably cold there. I texted her a screenshot of the temperature where she is, with an exclamation mark. She replied “I know. How tf am I meant to get breakfast?’

I’m hoping she wrapped up warm…

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 09:52

Silkiecat is also having trouble with breakfast service by her chosen staff. She called, quite reasonably, at 2.15am for her first breakfast, and DH said hello Silkiecat then fell back asleep. Silkiecat also immediately fell back to sleep but still.

Now it is 9.48am here and DH is snoring and Silkiecat is awake, she has food for breakfast but not the chosen staff. If everyone else in this house wasn't even more incompetent Silkiecat would sack him, at least for an hour.

Nydj · 08/01/2022 11:21

Very wet here today. I don’t plan to leave the house. Snow photo looks very pretty.

Good luck for your appointment on Tuesday @Silkieschickens and good luck to your brother for his appointment on Monday, @Lemonsandlemonade.

@caringcarer, your foster child has made amazing progress - well done!

Thank you for keeping us updated on the progress of the paper piles @Prokupatuscrakedatus - I am invested in it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2022 13:37

I have done all my Saturday chores bathrooms, kitchen, laundry etc.
DH is cooking and when I mentioned the papers, Nydj, he remembered that he has to write an article with a deadline.

Now I am free to read Bernard on causes of autism (kind of a 'state of the art' collection on what is actually known etc. with a bibliography longer than the actual book) and pacify the owl.

Champagneforeveryone · 08/01/2022 14:31

I'm sorry to do this to you lovely folk as it is absolutely too exciting for this thread but..

...we have had an offer accepted on the unsuitable house Grin

HelenaJustina · 08/01/2022 14:52

Champagne! Flowers how exciting!

prok I have some of my stupid chores, but need to garner the enthusiasm to vacuum the whole house… this is proving tricky

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2022 14:53

@Champagneforeveryone - Yay!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 08/01/2022 14:53

Oops - that was too early. Tell us more.

Nydj · 08/01/2022 16:28

Champagne - can the house be made suitable? Do you love it? In any event, congratulations!

Champagneforeveryone · 08/01/2022 16:46

Thanks Smile

We wanted to stay in our local area, have a decent garden, 2 bedrooms and ideally parking. What we've got is out of the area, small garden, 3 bedrooms and no parking (indeed we will need to throw money at that particular issue with parking permits)

However I fell in love with the house the minute I walked in, we viewed as it was substantially under budget and we wanted to know what we would get for our money if the mortgage offer wasn't what we were hoping. I knew we would buy the house during the first 5 minutes of our first viewing.

I'm trying not to get too over excited but.... Grin

sueelleker · 08/01/2022 16:52

Can you post a link so we can see it?

Silkieschickens · 08/01/2022 16:55

Congratulations Champagne on winning an unsuitable house, hope you can make it suitable or yourselves unsuitable so you will be compatible. Xmas Wink

Just running the Eufy in the living room, its tummy has been emptied but is not very big, wabbit is now not scared of it and bounced over to it and then its brushes tried to clean him and he looked at Eufy to say we are not on that friendly terms yet. Had to move wabbit tunnel. I am still banned after operation from vacuums, one restriction I don't mind.

DH was making a noise and I said DH what are you doing. Playing with bubblewrap came the reply. Hmm I pointed out there was a big pile he had left on the floor and he said yes that is rubbish, actually I can move it. So he is moving it. Only been there 2 weeks. I suspect he has just relocated his rubbish pile but at least it is moving in the direction of the bin. He hates getting rid of things so just makes piles of rubbish which if questioned he will move elsewhere but gets irate if I try to throw out his rubbish. More relaxed about recycling but this has to be done to incredibly strict rules and can apparently only be done once every 2 weeks and its fine if inbetween every surface is covered. We have reached a peace deal of no surface upstairs. Occassionally I do get fed up of downstairs and just put it all in rubbish sacks which makes him grumpy but does improve the recycling rate going forward. No-one else is allowed to recycle as we cannot meet the standards required. My flat was always spotless with everything in its place before we met so I get Hmm It was easier when he wasn't wfh 100% of the time though so glad to have him home.
