Spits, I get lost very easily. I got a Garmin sat nav when they first came out and it was life changing. How old is your daughter? That's so nice that her gran will watch her for you.

The local anesthesia has worn off so I have carefully split a prescription pain tablet into thirds and taken one. The men are making dinner. I have them well trained. 😁

I'm back to work tomorrow.

I was on foot so no Garmin to lead me. My daughter is 11, and her Gran is great. Hope the pain meds help

I cleaned the filters in all the aircon units in my house. God, they were full of muck!

Even though it's quite late at night, my partner and I have been discussing the colours for our bathroom. I like the idea of ferns and green things in there. I'm going to pare down some of our toiletries.

Deathraystare · 04/01/2022 07:39

@WandaWomblesaurus73

Sounds lovely!

Deathraystare · 04/01/2022 07:48

@Nydj

London is an easy place to get lost in!

I remember going for an interview somewhere near Tower Hill. When I used to live in Essex, I would get the train to Fenchurch Street, then walk to the district line tube at tower hill. Could have done that walk with my eyes shut. However, decades on, and the day of the interview I had no idea where I was! There had been so many changes, lots of new buildings etc. Nightmare!

Thanks! Now I'm going to the garden centre with my daughter. She will probably have a scone in the cafe but I won't as I'm on a post Xmas diet.
It's really cold so I'm going to wear some thermals.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 04/01/2022 12:45

That sounds sore MissC. I hope work goes OK today.

When I lived in London I always had an A to Z with me and it was battered from regular use. It must be so much easier now with smartphones.

Silkieschickens · 04/01/2022 13:26

Just had check up for new patients at dentist, dentist was so lovely and spent 40 mins with me instead of the 10 you get and also did not take money for missed appointment so just charged £52.50 less £20 paid before so excellent value. Same as NHS prices.

He said I need 2 fillings and also went through all the cancer things but said when I have problems during radio or chemo just call him and he will put me as an emergency and do all at once. He is doing the 2 fillings and x rays next appointment on Saturday 15th and says will do white fillings and will do x rays for free. He seemed to love the thatched roof as well. DS would adore him as he had a screen showing fish and turtles all the time, bit like in Great Barrier Reef and DS loves turtles and fish. When I said that he said I can see your DS on NHS and just add him though DS already has a dentist.

Silkieschickens · 04/01/2022 13:43

When I returned rabbit bounced over then saw my mask and bounced back. I took it off and said sorry for scaring him and he bounced back over again especially when I said rabbit you have a much nicer personality than Silkiecat and he just heard the word cat and thought yes I can bounce on cat.

HelenaJustina · 04/01/2022 15:03

Yay for nice dentist!

MissConductUS · 04/01/2022 16:03

Welcome, @echt and @WandaWomblesaurus73, and thanks for sharing your news. echt, where are you that you need air conditioning in January?

The oral surgeon just rang me to see how my extraction and implant was feeling. He always calls the next day, which is very nice. It's only mildly sore today, so I'm getting by on ibuprofen.

Most of the east coast had a major snowstorm yesterday, from New Jersey down to Virginia. It passed south of us, but it was -8 when I got up this morning, so winter is really here now.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 04/01/2022 17:06

I've been indoors all morning with the fire going so I hadn't paid attention to the weather, but I just looked and it was -14C this morning, and is now up to -6C. But sunny, which is nice :-)

Silkieschickens · 04/01/2022 17:13

We are still in positive temps here but by skin of our teeth 2 degrees at the moment, minus 1 tonight and minus 5 tomorrow night. Am so grateful to whoever invented fleece bedding and fleece onesies, also have some lovely Boden velvet slippers.

Discovered Boden are doing boys puffin things for older boys so ordered DS a fleece puffin jacket and a puffin polo and got 20% off and free postage. They have been very kind with me refunding me the 2 mistake orders without waiting for them to be returned. Got to get DH to collect the other one, he also have his work Christmas hamper still to collect, just hope they have refrigerated the cheese as being French and tight DH will still try to use it even if its been at 25C for 3 weeks. And we will have our 3rd Christmas pudding. DH keeps buying more turkey saying I like it, I do but I am a bit turkeyed out atm.

WandaWomblesaurus73 · 04/01/2022 17:41

I'm cleaning the kitchen and listening to Chrissie Hynde. But I might put Queen or Aerosmith on so I can get some energy to clean a bit more enthusiastically. I've noticed all the cleaning products I usually buy are pink. That's cheered me up a bit. Now I'm pretending I am Mrs Hinch and that I enjoy cleaning.

Silkieschickens · 04/01/2022 17:48

My dentist said I can choose the music for my dental treatment and said he has everything from the Spice Girls to Iron Maiden. It definitely won't be the Spice Girls.

MissConductUS · 04/01/2022 17:52

I was just out walking at lunchtime and listened to a podcast (Royal Blood - very good) about British pagan queen Boudica and her revolt against the Romans. She even burned down London. I had no idea.

Wanda, here cleaning products tend to be blue or green. I'm having trouble picturing my dishwashing soap in pink.

OP posts:
Lemonsandlemonade · 04/01/2022 18:41

Boudica was a very interesting person of history by all accounts.

Just trying to catch up with the thread.

Been busy back in work. Changing the room round ready for the children on Thursday.

Also attended training via teams which was boring.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 04/01/2022 19:13

Been at work from 8 am to 6:30 pm, luckily my work mate is well enough to check her projects herself, she will tell me when I need to do something.
DH still working at getting the papers sorted.
It is raining and not really cold.

Champagneforeveryone · 04/01/2022 19:32

It's got much colder here and our gas is not delivered until Tuesday. DH's anxiety levels are wavering Grin

MissConductUS · 04/01/2022 19:51

Champagne, when you say gas do you mean propane or LNG? We heat with propane.

Duo is now e-mailing me so I have been on to Duo to discuss boundaries with the owl, I never agreed to being nagged by e-mail.

We have having fajitas tonight, not sure what with, we are currently back to playing supermarket lucky dip or unlucky dip as so much out of stock here.

Both kids were supposed to be back in school today but DDs is opening late and DSs was online today back tomorrow but said it may shortly shut as 20% of staff were off in December due to covid and they cannot get supply staff. But Boris says its all fine and hospitals are just "temporarily overwhelmed" and he is confident they can get through it by themselves. Hmm

Silkieschickens · 04/01/2022 20:22

DH asked me to choose pepper colour out of three as he couldn't decide. I also couldn't so I left the choice to DS and rabbit. Rabbit will probably just have decided he is eating all 3.

The dentist was also good as he gave advice on bones everywhere and he said the ct showing a bony island (?) on hip joint will have been caused by osteoarthritis which 2019 mri showed high risk for.

IWanderedLonely · 04/01/2022 20:44

My grandchildrens' favourite film is Horrible Histories so I know all about Boudicca Wink ( actually a really good children's film for the first 20 times )

Silkieschickens · 05/01/2022 05:03

Woke up just before 5am to the smell of burning toast and said to DH is someone making toast and burning the thatched roof whilst they are at it Xmas Hmm and DH said I have already investigated and DS made himself some 4.30am toast.

Just taken painkillers as now getting pain where operated, think may have over-exercised it, now seem to have a lump there.
