DS has stopped working - DD is checking over to see if it meets expectations, while I sit here trying to appease Duo.
The lasagne has been eaten, it was lovely! - from tomorrow on we will think of our health and eat sensibly again.

Silkieschickens · 02/01/2022 15:05

Just had steak in red wine and shallot sauce with roast potatoes, broccoli and carrots.

Duo is probably really mad with me as had to stop when I had my operation, just done one lesson but it won't let me on a leaderboard, think the owl is sulking, it must be Silkieowl.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/01/2022 15:33

That sounds very tasty indeed!

They are about to start the new groups any minute now.
I woke up to find myself on place 27 in my group. So I went to my safe languages to get points.

Champagne, I've just downloaded the W3W app. It's a great idea, but don't know how practical it will be here as I think it's pretty unknown in the US.

Silkie, my DH used to make steak with red wine and shallots, but hasn't done so in years. We don't generally keep wine in the house.

Prok, thanks for the reminder that we have leftover lasagne in the fridge. I think we're having burgers for dinner tonight.

My church has gone back to Zoom for services, due to omicron. We had a nice birthday dinner with cake and presents last night.

DH has noticed that the registration on the car that DS takes to uni expires in March, so he's gone online and renewed it early. Hopefully, we'll get the new sticker soon, as DS goes back to uni on 18/1. The old sticker has to be scraped off the inside of the windshield with a special tool and the new one is a bit tricky to apply. DH is optimistic. He says that it usually comes promptly when he renews it online.

Its 5 hours here Prok before the owl will talk to me again, next week begins here, though I turned off its messages.

MissC Being married to a Frenchman there is always champagne, and often wine, in the house though I very rarely drink, much to MILs horror, so tends to just stay in boxes. MIL buys boxes of it and sends them over, DH often just sells the champagne on as we can get it a fraction of the price its sold for over here.

It was very nice though the sauce was purple Xmas Shock

DD has just been for a run and now having a shower. I have had more quality street.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/01/2022 17:37

Excellent miss, I should really mount a campaign to raise awareness Grin

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/01/2022 19:57

DS has finished his paper - he is now stressed out to the max., it will get him a pass, more is not expected.

And
I have discovered the seedlings of new heaps of paper on a sofa behind the Christmas tree. Grin

HelenaJustina · 02/01/2022 21:29

Oh prok it’s an ongoing battle, but I have every confidence you’ll win the war.

We took the DC to a local NT for the Winter Light illuminations. It was absolutely stunning. We bumped into my best friend and her family so completed the walk with them. It was a good 3 miles including to and from the car, but it stayed dry. V wet underfoot though.

We went to Mass this morning, I popped into work to make sure the building was still standing and have cleaned the kitchen and done the ironing. Archers omnibus is playing in the background…

Nydj · 02/01/2022 21:42

I downloaded the W3W app a while ago in case I get stranded in the desert at some stage.

I hope your DH had a lovely birthday, @MissConductUS. Well done to your DD, @Silkieschickens and to your DS, @Prokupatuscrakedatus.

I watched the first episode of the new series of the great pottery throwdown this evening and it was lovely. Now time to appease Duo.

Silkieschickens · 03/01/2022 00:37

Just realised ordered wrong sizing from Boden, they are going to love me so placed a 3rd order with correct sizing, my brain is not functioning and also became bigger in lockdown. Plus always prefer cashmere bigger incase it shrinks.

Did my 30 mins exercise and also kept Duo happy.

Silkieschickens · 03/01/2022 00:49

Boden just messaged me straight back about orders, impressed at past midnight.

Silkieschickens · 03/01/2022 01:21

The lovely lady from Boden has refunded my first order before I have even returned it.

mathanxiety · 03/01/2022 02:24

We put our registration stickers in the upper right corner of the rear licence plate, MissC. We used to have municipal stickers for the windshield but they went virtual, making it easier to see pedestrians.

Our snow turned out to be very manageable. It didn't take me long to clear the car. I decided to skip Mass as I had my booster on Friday, but watched on YouTube instead. Had to go out to get cat food and two other items long overdue from Walmart, and ended up spending $55 and carrying three bags home.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 03/01/2022 04:23

I'm glad the snow wasn't too bad Math. DD flew back your way this evening for college. They have a two week not-quite-lockdown while they make sure anyone arriving with Covid doesn't pass it on, then hopefully it will get back to sort-of-normal.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/01/2022 05:33

In the desert nydj, where do you live if you don't mind me asking?

Predictably it is raining again.

Deathraystare · 03/01/2022 07:42

Yay! I am now negative for Covid and back at work.

However, there was supposed to be a porter covering reception until 7am. I came in at 06.40 and no one was there. Eventually I radioed to see if someone was in but they just mumbled. They eventually came in and I told them they should be on reception until 7am but they just said they were "there" waving somewhere in the distance. It say in the book they sign in that they cover reception from 6-7 am. However, he waltzed out again at 06.50 am so I have let my line manager know that I started work at 06.40.

If the reception is empty for whatever reason, we have to0 put a notice up with who they can ring. The notice had been left type face down on the desk.

Thank Goodness there was no emergency, although what the dopey git would have done if there was.....

Silkieschickens · 03/01/2022 13:46

Have ordered DSs birthday present and special cake though am trying to chase cake company as last time ordered from them they forgot to make it Hmm but there is only supermarket alternatives as short notice so trying. E-mailed them and they aren't replying. He is getting a 2 in 1 14 inch laptop for his birthday with touchscreen, in my fantasy world he will also do homework on it, I have a good imagination.

DSs school have said may need to shut as 20% of staff off in December and cannot get supply teachers. Both kids have a delayed start, in theory DS is remote tomorrow and I am supposed to be at dentist.

Asked DH to get tomato soup and bread and butter from the shop but he said shop has no bread so he got bread rolls which is fine and he got tomato, cheese and red pepper soup, will give it a try but not sure how that will be. Co-op normally puts far too much pepper in for my liking.

Getting pain in my arm, think I probably overstretched it but hard not to use it normally as the right arm and I am on the right side of the bed. Silkiecat is much quieter now the turkey is finished, she does not need a 24/7 turkey waiter anymore, phew.

sueelleker · 03/01/2022 14:12

Just been to collect some liquid morphine for my DH. He's had bad hip/leg pain since he was in hospital, so I rang NHS111 and they sent a prescription through. (He fell over while mobilising in hospital-they said the X ray was clear, but NHS are arranging another one)

Nydj · 03/01/2022 14:15

Erm, London! But, in my defence, I have read of people getting lost in deserts and going round in circles …
HelenaJustina · 03/01/2022 18:20

Best to be prepared nydj in proper Scout fashion.

I don’t want to go back to work tomorrow. I need to go for a run this evening but it will mean getting in the car and driving somewhere with lit pavements. I have transferred all important dates from last year’s calendar to the new one.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 03/01/2022 18:57

Back to work and my collegue - who is usually never ill is off work sick till the 14th. And she is a precise and efficient worker, so I have to make sure I don't mess up her projects.

DH is still working at his papers and filing.

MissConductUS · 03/01/2022 19:09

When DH lived in Londinium he never went anywhere without a map, and he has a much better sense of direction than I do. So I think you are wise to have it, Nydj. I suspect we are spoiled by the easy to navigate grid of streets in NYC.

I am back from the oral surgeon, who was able to extract the tooth and place the implant in one visit. It's a bit sore, so I am going to lie down before the novocaine wears off.

I'm also back at work tomorrow, have that horrible drop in my stomach that I used to get before the first day of term when I was at school.
Tried my Nelly vac in the bathroom today - she goes right under the bath, very pleased with her.

mathanxiety · 03/01/2022 20:37

Tackling the fridge and oven cleaning this evening. Wish me luck.

Spitspotsput · 03/01/2022 22:32

Got lost in Stoke on Trent the other day. Man, that is a confusing and higgledy piggledy place!

Cheese on toast for tea. Begging daughter to tidy bedroom in time for Gran to look after her tomorrow (teacher training).
