Guess what - DH has started on the papers. Xmas Shock He does not look happy.
And I have started my way back to my comfort weight, I hope to be back there in about three months. DH does the cooking so my portion sizes will be healthy.

Champagneforeveryone · 01/01/2022 12:24

Much quieter here Chez Champagne. There was a small cluster of pale teenage boys eating breakfast and drinking vast quantities of juice and water. They've since been collected and have shuffled off up the drive like a poorly organised carnival procession.

DDog1 has found the festivities quite exhausting and has retreated under the kitchen table. Normally anxious DDog2 has had a ball, with a steady supply of boys and party food. She appears completely crestfallen that they have left and keeps staring forlornly at the front door. ChampagneCat has (most sensibly) kept well out of the way.

The house is returned to normal, and we're just waiting to put the last load in the dishwasher. In the spirit of this thread, I have a dishwasher cleaner which I may run through afterwards.

DH and I are going to walk to the pub and get a lift home with DS who has the misfortune of having to work, then an early night with clean sheets.

Hope everyone else is enjoying a peaceful start to 2022 Smile

Happy New Year everyone. My DH had an MRI scan today-I was very surprised when they offered it. Now to wait for the results.

@Champagneforeveryone your description of teenagers made me laugh.

Happy new year all

Nydj · 01/01/2022 16:58

Fingers crossed for your DH, @sueelleker.

Champagneforeveryone · 01/01/2022 17:21

sue Flowers

We've just ordered Chinese. Despite my very clear instructions and W3W location I expect the driver will get lost Confused

MissConductUS · 01/01/2022 18:05

Good luck for a normal scan, Sue. Have they told you when to expect the results?

Champagne, W3W?

They may have told him, but he's got a terrible memory! It won't be normal, as he had part of a bladder tumour removed in November; we're just hoping it hasn't metastasized
MissConductUS · 01/01/2022 18:58

Helena, he is indifferent to it being on NYD, except that some prior employers gave staff their birthday off, which never benefited him as his is always a holiday. His current employer allows him to take it off on another day in the same or following pay period.

I miss those days of shuffling teenagers blinking in the unexpected brightness of daylight.

Sueelleker hoping for good news for you and DH.

Happy Birthday to your DH, MissC.

I had a horrible night after my booster yesterday - aches, fever, a feeling that my skin was crawling. Dcat somehow figured out I coiuld use some moral support and joined me in bed, getting up at one point to spring onto my bedside table and knock something off it.
I'm feeling great now that I've polished off a pot of tea, and I'm going to see if I can find whatever it was that was knocked off.

The snow started exactly as forecast. I think we're really in for it. It's not the floaty, fluffy stuff but little frozen pellets that hit you in the face. I brought out all the bins and recycling just as it was arriving.

Lemonsandlemonade · 01/01/2022 21:51

Very uneventful day today. Aww math Hope you feel better.

@sueelleker 💐

Am watching the tourist am very unconvinced at the moment.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/01/2022 21:56

DH is still sorting the paper and doing related stuff Smile. DD is putting chocolate on a box full of cookies. DS is still working - I do so hope that he manages to finish the thing and get a pass.

Warmish and wet here.

Lemonsandlemonade · 01/01/2022 22:02

Oh in the internet of boring news I ordered DS a new swimsuit.

Are those the actual papers prok?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/01/2022 22:37

Lemon Yes - those are the papers that live on 1 - a sofa (seat and backrest), 2 - a bench (seat and on the floor below) since March (DD sent me a video to shock me when I came round from my OP) plus 3 - on the floor and on and under several small tables in his office
Paperwork really really overwhelms him unless it is in a computer. He can also write books and articles that are fun to read in his field but a birthday card stresses him out. Grin

MissConductUS · 01/01/2022 22:41

Lemons, I ordered a pair of blue jeans for myself from Lands End. They were 50% off. 😊

The men are making pizza. The birthday cake is hidden in the garage fridge.

@Silkieschickens
Greetings from the zoo I am always trying to film the beautiful Silkies in (they never let me)

Silkieschickens · 01/01/2022 23:26

Thank you very much Prok beautiful panda video. Had a horrible day as DH was very grumpy so just what I needed. He is feeling very guilty now and did get us a Chinese.

Hope the scan does not show mets Sue For mine results come back to doctors very quickly within 24 hours or so but it can take a couple of weeks before mine tell me as they go through committees first and see me on Fridays. I am in the middle of a 4 week wait for surgery results, they said 2 weeks but then given appointment for 4 weeks though was expecting 3 with the Christmas period. Mine are on 14th and will say if in lymph nodes, doctor gave impression it was but we will see and see if that means chemo, hope not.

Very kind teacher messaged today to offer help for DD again. I asked her what she needed and she said emotional support then no all the support he has. She has got through to interview stage at Kings College Maths school, its not viable for her to get there from here but she applied anyway. Bet she gets offered a place then the can you just buy me a flat in central London ensues. Xmas Hmm

sueelleker · 02/01/2022 10:28

Thanks Silkie; he has an oncology appointment on Jan 23rd, so hopefully they should have the results by then.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/01/2022 10:44

Well done to your DD silkies, you must be so proud Flowers

Apologies miss, W3W is What 3 Words. It's an app where the world is divided into 3x3m squares, each square having three random words assigned to it. If I gave you the W3W location for my gate, you could plug them into the app and it would take you to it unless you're delivering a Chinese of course

It is a fantastic bit of technology and we use it a lot through work. It amazes me every time TBH Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/01/2022 11:22

The sofa is empty and the sofaspread is in the washing basket. Plus he has finished one set of accounts last night. Grin

Now he is making lasagne.

DS needs until 15:00 h to finish the paper. Then his sister will read the thing and check it against formal requirements.

Silkie I had to google. Congratulations to your DD.

Silkieschickens · 02/01/2022 12:19

Thank you. She has done really well to get this far, very proud of her though nervous of the ensuing can't we just buy a flat in central London or can't you just pay for me to stay in central London hotels all week coming next. We have already had this and said no.

I think results should definitely be in by 23rd Sue.

DH said he was getting a roast. I was Xmas Shock why until he pointed out it was Sunday. I pointed out even though my computer agreed with him it was not Sunday and so we are having steak in wine sauce with veg from the roast and DD will have the veg roast and yorkshire puddings and her veggie stuff.

I have just got a lonely parcel alert from Boden and it helpfully says that the pick up shop is "Open today until Closed" and the link through says closed, the shops page says open. But price has reduced again so just reordered and think that one will get sent back. I am still doing my 30 mins exercise a day, I tried the Cosmopolitan exercises from bed thing, some of them are quite a challenge after operation on arm. I keep overstretching arm and getting pain but otherwise almost nothing and every time I think I won't do that again then 30 mins later oops. Trouble is its my right arm.

Silkieschickens · 02/01/2022 12:22

Well done on getting your DH to move things Prok I discovered why DH was so grumpy, it was as he could not get the x-box to set up but did not want to admit he needed help. Thankfully DD helped and as a young person could do most of it.

I have never heard of W3W Champagne, I had assumed it was WW3 at your house with many teenage drunk boys misspelt.

Champagneforeveryone · 02/01/2022 13:01

I'm always surprised by the amount of people who don't know about it silkie as it's such a simple concept and potentially a lifesaver.

Even something as simple as if your car breaks down on a long country road with no visible landmarks, this will allow the AA to get to you quickly.

HelenaJustina · 02/01/2022 14:07

DH loves W3W champagne it’s much more accurate the postcodes, especially rurally.

dementedma · 02/01/2022 14:10

I have done a little tidying in the garden and lit a fire outside. Sitting in the summer house enjoying the cracking noise and the smell of woodsmoke
