Prok Flowers. Waiting for the inevitable news is horrible, I'm glad the priest was allowed to go.
Today I have to go and wash and set my mum's hair. I have no hairdressing skills and the result isn't always a great success. I've been trying for years to convince her to have it straight but she's not budgingGrin.

Silkieschickens · 31/12/2021 09:28

At least he discovered that now Prok DH announced on Christmas Eve about 8pm he was going food shopping on Christmas day Xmas Hmm, only lived here about 25 years. Thankfully I had already ordered and he had collected all the food we need and shops only close for a day here for food then but there seems to be part of the brain that does not work for that. DH has a routine where he goes to the shop several times every day, thankfully the shop is really close.

DH and DD are still sleeping and DS has fed the silkies but very quiet.

Good luck with dental treatment MissC

Silkieschickens · 31/12/2021 09:30

Glad the priest was allowed to go Prok

miss, while the cats away Grin those were the days

We were actually drinking beer, eating cheese and discussing what we would (theoretically) do to the impractical house.

I say theoretically, but we've just put an offer in and we're waiting to hear back Wink

Deathraystare · 31/12/2021 12:00

@Lemonsandlemonade thanks. I amstill positive but one of my colleagues said she had two positive tests before a negative one.
@Silkieschickens I too had ti go down the private dentist route. Mind you was shocked to find the price for private was not much more! My dentist is lovely. I had not been for decades and thought she would throw up her hands with horror but she didn't.
Still positive with Covid but hopefully not much longer. I really miss work! Living on my own, in a small room, I am really missing my friends and colleagues.

Champagneforeveryone · 31/12/2021 12:14

deathray, I have had to go privately as well, after I rather recklessly flounced out of my perfectly acceptable NHS dentist following a run in with a dentist (who was subsequently sacked for bad conduct)

Like you, I'm surprised that it's not that much more expensive, though I think it starts to mount up if you need treatment like several fillings. Privately they're charged for individually, on the NHS they come under one course of treatment so one charge.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/12/2021 12:20

Whisper: DS is still working on his paper - waiting for tomorrow.

@Nydj - Re: your predictions. When I reminded DH that today is the 31st, he "looked". Grin

I finished cleaning for today

Deathraystare · 31/12/2021 12:24

Hold the front page! I may excite you all! My lovely ex flat mate has just brought my Jacobs Crackers! I can now have some cheese!

Yes I know small pleasures and all that, but covid is boring!!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/12/2021 12:44

Death Yay and congratulations!

Nydj · 31/12/2021 13:48

I live with a hoarder so you have my sympathies, Prok

HelenaJustina · 31/12/2021 15:27

Crackers make the cheese Deathray you are right to be pleased.

I’ve put my foot down and am insisting the everyone’s new belongings are removed from the living room. I’m meeting fierce resistance but standing firm.

MissConductUS · 31/12/2021 15:48

Do you have these crackers in the UK? They are my all time favorite with cheese. We had them yesterday with the brie.

Stoned Wheat Crackers

IWanderedLonely · 31/12/2021 18:36

I've never seen that brand Miss but we do have a huge variety. I've just had rosemary infused crackers ( Aldi) with cheese & pate for tea. Followed by the last 1/2 ton of Christmas pudding.

IWanderedLonely · 31/12/2021 18:38

Also a Happy New Year to you all, I hope it brings good things ( I know we all have rubbish things too).

mathanxiety · 31/12/2021 19:28

Deathray - how lovely of your ex-flatmate! It is indeed the simple pleasures that make the day. Hope you'll have a negative test soon and get out and about again.

MissC I'm a big fan of Triscuit myself, both Original and Rosemary and Olive Oil varieties, but we love Stoned Wheat Thins here too.

Helena, I am about to use your stern air of command here, and I expect rock solid inertia as a response.

I had my booster shot this morning. All went well, and I am crossing my fingers that I didn't get a speeding ticket as I was well into a radar monitored 25 mph zone doing 30 mph by the time I realised my mistake. The pharmacist stuck a new vaccine info sticker on my card right on top of the second dose information even though there is space for two subsequent shots to be noted on the back of the card, so I'm going to investigate the digital vaccine passport my state has developed, with all of my covid vax info going on my phone instead of the dog-eared card I have had up to now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/12/2021 20:02

First of all, a 2022 as good as it possibly can be to all of you!
DH is working, DS is drawing (practicing knees), DS is gaming and I finish the years accounts. Grin
@mathanxiety - In Germany all vaccines are noted in a little booklet that you keep among your papers. Mine starts in 1962. Plus - for Covid - a QR-code in paper you can use for the app. I show my phone to everybody guarding an entrance.

Silkieschickens · 31/12/2021 20:09

Hope everyone has a good New Years eve and a good 2022. Can't say I am looking forward to 2022 but have booked a week and a half in Edinburgh / by puffins etc which hopefully will get to go on.

We are having Asti, smoked salmon blinis, steak and ale mini pies and other assorted mini mains and then cheesecake.

Good luck with house offer Champagne

Many millions of cracker varieties here MissC

DoctorTwo · 31/12/2021 22:04

I hope next year is a good and happy one for everybody, whether you're a regular or a lurker on this thread. Much love to you all.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 31/12/2021 23:16

@Nydj You were right.

Nydj · 31/12/2021 23:20

I’m sorry about that @Prokupatuscrakedatus.

Wishing everyone a happy New Year

Champagneforeveryone · 31/12/2021 23:27

There's been some vomiting (thankfully contained)

The victim is being mercilessly ribbed in between waves of puke. It's all very good natured and I've just heard the immortal line "that's the problem with long hair, it looks good but gets in the way when you're sick"

Envy
HelenaJustina · 01/01/2022 08:27

Happy New Year all, may it be peaceful and prosperous x

Silkieschickens · 01/01/2022 10:37

Silkiecat managed to call DH at exactly midnight, was impressive. Xmas Smile

MissConductUS · 01/01/2022 11:55

Happy New Year and happy Caturday, lovely people of the thread.

It was a quiet NYE chez Conduct. We had a lovely roast chicken with mac & cheese, then watched some telly together.

Today is DH's birthday, so I will have to go out later and pick up his chocolate mousse cake from the posh bakery.

Math, look into getting a radar detector. We have one in each of the cars. I think it's saved me a few tickets.

Champagne, good luck with your offer. The housing market here has been really hot between covid and low interest rates.

I hope you had some success math, I did eventually ‘win’ but got dragged into searching for a missing Sports Captain badge which prolonged the efforts. DC1 decided that they had to completely tidy their whole room before they could add anything new into it. This took some time. Today’s mission is to get thank you notes completed and posted.

Happy Birthday to your DH Miss how does he find a NYD birthday? My nephew’s birthday is today, all of 4 yrs old.

I have been on a run (to the town) and been to Mass. Just hoovering to do, and need to drag DC out for some fresh air.
