Silkieschickens · 24/12/2021 20:08

Now have to continue the acrobatic position of having both feet and right arm above heart

Champagneforeveryone · 24/12/2021 20:10

ChampagneCat is wearing her Christmas bow tie.

DS is tinkering with his new record player turntable which he's opened tonight as I'm at work tomorrow morning (and he will need it tomorrow morning Xmas Wink)

DH is sweeping up mountains of shredded wrapping paper as DDogs have had a marvellous time and I am waiting on the results of my LFT for work tomorrow morning.

Merry Christmas one and all Xmas Smile

I managed it also doing my arm exercises for the day getting the ikea recliner to stay in most reclined position and adjusting all the cushions, had it perfected after 10 mins then DH brought me smoked salmon starters, lovely but all my manoeuriving was in vain. Listening to 80s and Xmas music.

Silkieschickens · 24/12/2021 20:14

Champagnecat is much more tolerant than Silkiecat unless that hand in the background is one she bit off Xmas Grin

Acornsandleaves · 24/12/2021 21:05

Merry Christmas everyone!

Champagnecat is looking very festive

MissConductUS · 24/12/2021 22:23

Prok, your tree is beautiful.

Champagne, that is one lovely Christmas cat. Xmas Smile

Silkie, the staff at your hospital will really appreciate the award recommendations.

I have finished washing and drying all of the dirty laundry DS brought home from uni yesterday. I have also made Christmas M&M cookies. Those are green and red M&M chocolate candies that are only sold at Christmas time.

Back from a lovely Mass (not too crowded at all) with beautiful organ music and 5 carols, both DC1 and DC2 served in the altar, the first time we have had more than one altar server since the beginning of the pandemic, it was surprisingly emotional to see them up there together when it’s usually one or the other Have had my first two slices of spiced beef and have started a glass of fizz.

Got to wait for DC1&2 to at least pretend to be asleep before delivering their stockings.

sueelleker · 24/12/2021 23:20

Thank you all; the fingers must have worked, as he came home at 6pm. He had some dinner and an early night, so hopefully he'll be ok for tomorrow.

MissConductUS · 25/12/2021 00:01

Sue, that's great news. They wouldn't have discharged him if he wasn't on the mend.

Helena, I am continuously impressed by what a good Catholic you are. Xmas Smile

Sorry yes@Silkoes I was quoting you. I don't have a right or wrong man. I am on my tod.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and let's hope next year gets better.

I was supposed to be working Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day but would you belive it my mild cold (felt worse than it is, left me flat and lethargic) has turned out to be bloody Covid. Serves me right for being smug when one of the other receptionists told someone they had all had it and I smugly pointed out that I had not. Got a text at 02.58 yesterday morning to tell me it was positive. so had to let everyone at work know I would not be in. Oops.

At least it is mild and I have asked an ex flay mate to get me some milk. I have food in the fridge and freezer. I can also start my Slim fast. After all I am not up to cooking much though might make an effort for today, it being Christmas day, but the rest of the time it would certainly help to lose weight so that is one silver lining about being forced to stay in one small room. Thankfully I got a load of dvds ready for viewing over Christmas.
All in all I count myself very lucky as a lot of you have it so much worse:(.

Enjoy your dayxxxxxxx

Silkieschickens · 25/12/2021 06:48

Sorry to hear that Death, enjoy your Christmas dvds.

Glad you got your DH home for Christmas Sue, even if he is not that well sure he would prefer to be home with you than at hospital.

I woke up early. Merry Christmas everyone.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/12/2021 09:53

Merry Christmas everyone, work is quiet for the time being, long may it continue! We've just had breakfast rolls which should sustain us till dinner Xmas Wink

MissConductUS · 25/12/2021 10:37

Merry Christmas, lovely people of the thread!

I'm up early and it's raining, but we don't have to go anywhere today. I'll spend some time on the stationary bike, shower and then start cooking. The holiday mashed potatoes and apple pie won't make themselves. DH is in charge of the ham and veg.

@Deathraystare, I'm so sorry to hear about your test result. I hope your case continues to be mild.

Here's our tree. I picked up from another thread that you hang the kids' stockings in their rooms after they fall asleep. Here the custom is to hang them over the fireplace.

Merry Christmas to all!
I woke up to -3 °C outside on the terrasse. The forcast for next week says +13 - so I am waiting for my head to start grumbling.

DH is working, DD is asleep and DS promised to start working for school at 12:00. His deadline is the 4th, no extension unless medical.

HelenaJustina · 25/12/2021 11:36

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope everyone finds some joy in the day, even if it’s not the day you were expecting or planning. X

DoctorTwo · 25/12/2021 12:16

Happy Christmas everybody. Yesterday I felt like I'd been hit by a bus, today I appear to have made a miraculous recovery. Hurrah! The small leg of lamb I bought is just about to go into the oven. Lovely.

MissConductUS · 25/12/2021 13:36

I'm glad you are feeling better, @DoctorTwo. The good news is that you feeling poorly means that you had a robust immune system response to the vaccine and will be well protected. Enjoy the lamb. Xmas Smile

I've peeled the potatoes for the holiday mashed and am waiting for the water to boil. Everyone else is still asleep or in bed.

Presents are opened and everyone is happy. DS got a new iPhone, so he and DH are setting it up. We're taking a break, then I'll start dinner soon.

We have just had our Christmas meal, stilton and apple to start then roast turkey and stuffing, lingonberry sauce as similar to cranberry, yorkshire pudding, pigs in blankets, cabbage, carrots, long brocolli, roast potatoes and gravy followed by christmas pudding with double cream. Pretty much everything was from the butchers hamper and was really lovely and dh cooked it all. Silkiecat had turkey, stuffed herself then fell asleep on the robin seat cushion. DD had veggie version and DS ate everything, even the Christmas pudding and double cream which DD helpfully told him he would not like, well apart from stilton. Rabbit had carrots. Very full now, think will be all food for the day.

DH got DD something in size medium and he is now in trouble and has learned you never buy females clothes too big. I got DH a Christmas jumper and christmas socks but had got it early October and we could not find it then DH sent me a photo and I spotted it so DH was very happy and proudly wearing them to Christmas lunch. DD has a tiffany bracelet and money and few bits and pieces, DS had the xbox and games, a fish bubble lamp and bits and pieces. DH had already got me the pink recliner with money from MIL and got me a penguin onesie though he said DD is after it and a soppy card to my beautiful wife.

DoctorTwo · 25/12/2021 19:03

Thanks Miss, the lamb was delicious, somehow I managed to cook it properly without making it tough. :o A first for me.

Silkies that sounds like a great family Christmas, glad you enjoyed it.

Champagneforeveryone · 25/12/2021 19:28

DH has recently started to feel the cold so I got him a heated throw for Christmas. He's currently got it wrapped around his shoulders and looks like something from Game of Thrones, while simultaneously smirking to himself at his new found heat.

Lemonsandlemonade · 26/12/2021 05:55

Hi all, glad you’ve all had Christmas we had a lovely one here. First one as a mum. Food went well but I wasn’t happy with my gravy. Ds was crying so it was rushed. FIL hovered in kitchen which drove me insane. DS was a delight.

Seeing DB today who hasn’t been well cancer has been mentioned but DM has told me in confidence. Waiting on scan results. DB isn’t a sharer.

IWanderedLonely · 26/12/2021 09:12

Happy Boxing Day all.
It snowed here in the night, just a sprinkling.
Miss we always hang our stockings on the mantlepiece, but I don't know how unusual we are.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 26/12/2021 10:00

Good morning, woke up to -8 °C and borrowed DH's padded trekking trousers. No stockings here ever and only small presents now we are all adults.
Beat DD at our new board game twice(!) and after that we played Qwirkle and I lost as usual.
