@Prokupatuscrakedatus

kiki Hi - enlighten me, what is a breakfast roll that needs tomato sauce? What do i need to google? (I collect all the new food stuffs that get mentioned here.)
I should imagine it's probably got bacon and sausage, and possibly egg, on it. Some people like tomato sauce on fried food.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 11:57

Thanks Sue! Found them - they even have a Wikipedia article of their own. Some look quite tasty Smile

Silkieschickens · 23/12/2021 12:17

Welcome kiki and glad you enjoyed your breakfast roll, sounds like a tough choice. Xmas Grin

Hope your DH is as OK as he can be in hospital Sue and hope he will be well enough to return home for Christmas and do his operation on 5th, saw your post on another thread.

The delivery for rabbit has arrived and DS has finally moved from the sofa to get the delivery from front door, about 2 metres, and is setting up the rabbit tunnels. I told DH to tell DS its an Xmas present for rabbit but he can open it now and he said DS has already opened it. He worships the rabbit.

Can hear DH on the phone and someone from work must have asked him how I am doing emotionally with cancer treatment. DH does not really do emotions and is Xmas Shock I have no idea. Xmas Grin He is much better on food but every time I ask him what food do we have in he replies cheese, that is his favourite food but I need to restrict dairy with medicines and also do not want cheese for every meal. He is always Xmas Shock about that but then says I need to think and returns with a better suggestion. At least tomorrow get the Christmas pack from butchers though that also comes with cheese selection board.

DH always goes on about cheeses (mostly French ones) and bemoans the fact that I generally do not like cheese.

Amazon just now delivered a small paket from my employer: a bit of nice chocolates and a set of juggling balls with instructions (I immedeately took out a cup Grin)

sueelleker · 23/12/2021 12:33

Thanks Silkie. The operation has been cancelled, as they've switched his care from the Urology to the Oncology team. He was supposed to have a CT scan at a different hospital today, but I cancelled that and they've managed to do it where he is now. They think he may have a bladder infection, and hope to send him home tomorrow.
Take care of yourself.

Bouledeneige · 23/12/2021 12:40

Just had to cancel Christmas for 13 as DD tested positive last night. Found somewhere to donate the Turkey thank goodness.

Acornsandleaves · 23/12/2021 13:47

Oh what a shame Boule, hope you manage to have a nice Christmas anyway.

Glad you're doing ok Silkie. I hope the rabbit likes it's new tunnel. We're planning to adopt two guinea pigs soon, I can't wait and the kids are incredibly excited

We're waiting for a PCR test for DS and keeping fingers crossed it comes back in time for us to go ahead with our plans tomorrow

Acornsandleaves · 23/12/2021 13:52

Glad your daughter had a nice birthday MissC.

Sue I hope your husband recovers well from his infection

Nydj · 23/12/2021 14:35

@sueelleker, I’m sorry you and your husband are having to deal with so many change of plans from the hospital. I hope his infection clears soon and he gets a new date for the operation soon.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 14:45

The dentist's office called - I was there the day before I tested positive and of course notified them. Funnily enough I infected the assistent (1 vaccine) but not the dentist (2 vaccines). The assistent needed some info for her paperwork.

@sueelleker - Sorry, I missed your update, all the best to your DH!

kiki22 · 23/12/2021 14:57

I am scottish therfore I had a roll with sqaure sausage and potato scone otherwise known as a square n scone with tomato sauce breakfast of champions 🙂

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 15:07

kiki There is a youtube video Smile

kiki22 · 23/12/2021 15:09

it's a must try

MissConductUS · 23/12/2021 15:40

Welcome, @kiki22, and thanks for sharing your breakfast new. The square and scone sounds fab. I'd add a fried egg I think. The New York equivalent would look like this:

Welcome, @Bouledeneige, and I'm so sorry to hear your holiday cancelation news. Is your DD feeling poorly?

Sue, sorry to hear about the change in your DH's treatment plan. It shouldn't take long for his UTI to resolve.

DS texted about an hour ago that he was leaving Boston, so unless he hits bad traffic we expect him early to mid-afternoon. We had some of DD's leftover birthday cake last night but there is still some left for DS.

Dull and unexciting news:
I went shopping did not have to wait long for bus either journey or should it be both journeys?
Probably I should have said both journeys.

Bouledeneige · 23/12/2021 17:06

DD has a bit of a cough and tiredness but generally isn’t too bad. Sounds a bit delta-ish and old school to me. I was isolating with covid till last Wednesday and I (imagined) was a bit more Omicrony - fluey and headachey. Anyways, I just dropped the Turkey to feed 14-16 off with a charity. We plenty of alcohol and plan to work out way through it.

MissConductUS · 23/12/2021 17:08

Welcome, @Politics4me, and thanks for your shopping news. I tend to think of a journey as a round trip, but I can see your point of view.

A small mystery was solved today. DS has a room downstairs we refer to as his cave. It has a comfortable chair and a small TV with a cable box. While he's been away at uni, we have occasionally found the TV mysteriously on. DH discovered that dear boy cat has been sitting on the cable box (for the warmth, no doubt) and turning it on by pressing down on the power button with his backend. We had just unplugged the TV, but since DS is coming home today it will have to get plugged back in. DH has moved the cable box to a location that will make it less inviting to the cat.

Further dullness,
I went shopping for 4 items in 4 different shops and bought all 4 that I wanted.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 17:43

Snow!

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 20: Calmly through the day
HildaTablet · 23/12/2021 17:53

I don’t think we’ll have snow, though it’s been quite chilly and rainy.

Our next door neighbour thinks she might have Covid and I’ve been communicating with her by phone to make plans to deliver some Christmas dinner to her doorstep if her PCR test result doesn’t come back in time and she’s still isolating in case. Meanwhile DH and I are avoiding the pre-Christmas crush as much as possible, but the shops are open till late tonight and almost deserted in the evening, so I’m going to nip out and get the last couple of things we need. But we’re mostly sorted anyway, we really just need some extra milk and anything tempting that might be hugely marked down in price
Tomorrow we’ll be staying well clear of any shops. It’s a weird old Christmas.

MissConductUS · 23/12/2021 17:59

Prok, that's festive. We have no chance of a white Christmas here.

politics, you have a perfect record.

DS texted that he stopped for lunch about halfway home at Shake Shack, a posh burger chain. I am a bit jealous as the food there is amazing and we don't have one near us.

Spending my time scrolling through Mumsnet trying to take my mind of my 3 days of fever and feeling ill with hardly any sleep for 3 nights too. Desperate for a shower but need to build up the energy

IWanderedLonely · 23/12/2021 20:03

Busy day here, a bit of dullness I will share with you:- I asked my Dd if she needed new slippers for Christmas, she said no - last year's were still fine. Whilst sorting presents into households this afternoon I discovered I'd already bought her someHmm. I swear I am turning into my mum.

MissConductUS · 23/12/2021 21:08

Welcome, @WhatTHEactualWHAT. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly. Do you know what you are ill with?

DS is home. He's moving to a new dormitory next semester, so he had to bring all of his stuff home. We helped him get the car unloaded. He brought home two large bags of laundry to be washed, so I'm working on that. Our favorite Tex/Mex takeaway is closed for the holidays, so we may make pizza if the dough defrosts in time.

It's lovely to have him home.
