Hello, lovely people of the thread. Today is my last day at work before going on annual leave until early January, so it's been nonstop meetings and trying to get things done before I go. I'm still taking some things home with me.

Lemons, I'm sorry things are still stressful for you at work.

Champagne, how brave of your son to discuss that with you. Things are so much more open now than when I was growing up, thank goodness. Re the sellotape, I buy the multipacks of Scotch tape at the warehouse club and it's not pricey at all. I'm still working on a package I bought years ago.

I'm picking up DD's birthday cake on my way home.

I finish work tomorrow at 12. Telephone appointment with the doctors at 12 for blood test results menopause/stress being the main candidates.
I have shamed myself today by buying mince pies. I have 1/2 a jar of homemade mincemeat brandy with fruit & suet chucked in but I can't face making my own this year. I've never been so disorganised and CBA.
On a boring but positive note one of our churchwardens bought me a bottle of champagne today - I have never, ever been given champagne Smile

Silkieschickens · 21/12/2021 22:28

Thanks Basilik Glad your puppy is having fun.

Ordered the last few bits for Christmas. Got next hospital appointment through, not until 14th January but is with the lovely female surgeon not the brusk male one so hopefully have switched. I thought they would check I was ok before then but maybe no checks. I have their phone number and will call them as getting fluid build up and getting indigestion, have taken some anti acids but not sure what I am supposed to do re bandages either. I think they said remove after 5 days but not sure what is a bandage and one looks like clear, well bloody, sellotape but is ot stiches or bandage. But not bad at all considering.

Silkie as long as you can reach somebody when you need them!
Your body especially your digestive system will notice (among other things of course) that you are not as active as you used to be and react to that.
DD has finished baking, the tree is up and I had an attack of the "housewife's" and checked the storage containers under our bed.

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 10:17

Thanks Prok and glad you are sorted for Christmas.

I have numbers to call in the daytime but there are Christmas closures, where I was operated on is just an acquired site as all beds are taken in the normal hospital and they close for a week, just called breast unit and they close for 4 days. They said otherwise A&E but A&E is not somewhere you want to be going in the UK at present in the winter of a pandemic with covid rife. I have solved the indigestion, seems looking online they may put gas into you in surgery and that must have been what was causing my stomach pain and indigestion but now solved that but have fluid building up on both feet and the operation site which was turning yellow. I got through and will see me Friday at 2pm, its not very urgent and prefer that as they close for 4 days and will drain it. Said to take off compression stockings and elevate feet and that the yellow is normal and may go green then purple.

DH has to pick up the Christmas food on 24th but luckily that is the morning and this is at 2pm otherwise Silkiecat would not be happy.

I ordered DSs rabbit a Omlet rabbit tunnel set which is chew proof, DS has always wanted tunnels for his rabbit, whether the rabbit wants one I am less sure of. Happy Birthday to your DD MissC.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/12/2021 10:41

Silkie Fluid build up - I remember. When the operate on you the cut through 'lymph channels' (sorry, that is way above my English) and the fluid has to find new ways. I had build up in areas I never thought there logically should be (knees?). It took time but it got sorted in the end.

Those tunnels this is what I found look interesting - did rabbit ever build a tunnel? Or is (s)he a strictly indoor rabbit?

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 10:50

Those rabbit tunnels are similar, Prok, this is the exact one I ordered in purple and its 2 tunnels and an tunnel station. There is a video on this one. Rabbit is pretty much just indoors, the children both say its cruel to take him outdoors, he does go sometimes though think he prefers indoors lying on sofa watching TV cuddling DS munching away. He is ok with outdoors but mainly just the constant food supply of grass that interests him.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/12/2021 11:38

That is a rabbit with very catlike habits you've got! (And now I get ads for all sorts of rabbit supplies Grin).

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 15:01

Wabbit is quite like a kitten, bouncy, playful and cuddly, always hungry and lively, scared of nothing.

Silkiecat is getting very grumpy any time dh talks to me and lots of very cross sounding howls are being made to him.

I told DD a former friend of mine had replied a few days ago who is an MP offering his number etc and DD said Mummy I am most impressed at the number of rich and powerful men you are getting to run round after you and please can you teach me how I can achieve this. She has gone out with friends for the day.

The 🐇 adverts are clearly a sign you need an indoor rabbit 🐇 Prok. I

This is a new kindle and it keeps changing Silkiecat to Silliest. DH will go to Dunelm later to pick up a few smaller presents, I won't say DD s as she stalks me but DS has things including a fish bubble lamp, he loves fish and lights. I have a washing up bowl for myself as my life is that exciting atm. It's for my hair as can't bathe for 2 weeks, I did it like that straight after hospital before I realised was not supposed to put arms above head first week oops but worked well for keeping rest of me dry as put pink fluffy onesie on first, DH said I look like a giant pink rabbit.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/12/2021 15:21

DD bought me a fluffy coat with cat's ears on the hood. Does your onesie come with a hood? and can you get DC to fit said hood with wabbit ears - to make the most of it?
Not being able to properly wash ones hair is a pain.
The name Dunelm gives off Lord of the Rings vibes - I googled - and it is "Haushaltswaren" - not one hobbit is sight.

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 15:29

Yes it has a hood and ears already, also have the koala one which has a koala head and ears on it, they are supersoft and great atm. Just washed my hair again in the washing up bowl, living dangerously, but arms are normal and easy to keep sound dry and I hate manky hair.

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 16:33

My kindle just fell off me and got totally submerged in the bowl of soap and water I used for my hair, it suddenly then said liquid detected. It was just a 40 pounds cheap one for hospital but still hope it survives.

Lemonsandlemonade · 22/12/2021 16:50

Not really caught up but oh no Silkie I hope it survives for you.

Had booster today arm is sore.

Silkieschickens · 22/12/2021 17:23

Thanks Lemons Hope you escape booster side effects.

The kindle appears to have survived.

I am having to do acrobatics to get feet higher than heart on this recliner but then all the fluid seems to go in my mouth, not sure this is an improvement though at least can empty my mouth.

HelenaJustina · 22/12/2021 21:23

Met one of my best friends today at a NT property for a long walk. Her DC and my DC get on well and disappeared off while we went for a cross-fields tramp.

I took my slip of card to the sorting office to pay for and collect a piece of post which didn’t have the correct postage on it. They couldn’t find it so have taken my phone number. Once they find it they will call me, I then have to go online, pay the postage+fees and request redelivery. The man assured me that it will be a Christmas card (he could tell by the surcharge I am being asked to pay). I’m not sure it’s going to worth all this hassle.

DoctorTwo · 22/12/2021 21:29

I collected my car yeaterday, it's now lovely and runs smoother than a buttered bannister. I have my booster jab tomorrow just before lunch, not looking forard to it but want it done.

Have a great Xmas everybody, see you on the other side.

MissConductUS · 22/12/2021 21:33

This is my first day off for the holidays and I spent an hour on paperwork this morning and just got off a Zoom call for work. Perhaps now my time off will actually begin.

I had a follow up appointment with the orthopedist who did my surgery in July as I still have some discomfort in the hip. He's referred me for PT and possibly a specialist if PT doesn't resolve it. The same medical building has an urgent care center on the first floor and the line was around the building at 8:30 AM, presumably from people who want covid testing. I also have a sinus infection that my GP was kind enough to prescribe AB for without a visit. I just saw her a few weeks ago, so she was in a good mood. I have a history of sinus infections and that's in my chart.

DD's birthday yesterday was nice. She went out to dinner with her boyfriend and he joined us for cake, which was delicious. He's a lovely young man. We did presents after he left, and there is plenty of cake left in the fridge for DS when he gets home tomorrow.

Silkie, I'm glad to hear you are recovering well. It's expected that you'd need some pain relief now so disregard any opinions to the contrary. Your Kindle will probably survive but they are on sale now for Christmas if you need to replace it.

Lemons, well done on getting your booster. The soreness should subside in a day or two.

Nydj · 22/12/2021 22:54

Good luck to those who have had or are about to have boosters.

Sorry to hear about the kindle mishap, @Silkieschickens but glad it has survived the swim.

A belated happy birthday to your DD, @MissConductUS.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 05:57

DD and DS are off for their boosters soon, I need to come with them because of DS.
I will do some shopping while I am out and get my "recovered' slip, too.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/12/2021 06:16

I've just received notification that I need to isolate for 6 days Xmas Hmm

Oddly, I received one at the beginning of the month but didn't need to isolate, as at that time I wasn't eligible for my booster jab. I am now eligible but have had it too recently for it to count so I now count as not fully vaccinated so do need to isolate.

It's no big deal, except I should be at work over Christmas so I imagine that will go down well. Also, DH will have to do the final food shop which cheers me enormously Xmas Grin

Silkieschickens · 23/12/2021 10:25

My kindle survived, seriously impressed as it was a very cheap one.

Am not too bad considering, just having swelling issues in both feet and operation site but looked up what best to do and trying to follow that diet and no ibruprofen, no gaviscon but don't need that with paracetamol and trying to do exercises and it's stabilised and took compression stockings off as nurse said to and that has taken swelling from legs. Glad will see them on Xmas eve though so can be checked over.

Glad your Dd had a good birthday MissC.

That seems good timing for an isolation for you Champagne but yes imagine it won't be too popular with your colleagues. I am surprised they do that if you are double vaccinated with the staff shortages unless it was a very close contact.

I still have to get booster though am isolating anyway apart from hospital visits, have it booked in for 7th January.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 10:55

DC are back home and boostered, I got my 'recovered' slip.
We checked if there is anything we still need, because from about 14:00 h on the 24th until the morning of the 27th the country will be closed for Christmas except for absolute essentials and hospitality / culture related venues. (even supermarkets are closed and bakeries open on a rota)

kiki22 · 23/12/2021 11:23

Hi all thought I would join seems like a great thread.

Today my second favourite breakfast roll shop changed the type of tomato sauce they use it's not the type thats a bit nippy and I really like it better than my favourite shop. Now I'm very conflicted on which is my favourite breakfast roll.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/12/2021 11:29

kiki Hi - enlighten me, what is a breakfast roll that needs tomato sauce? What do i need to google? (I collect all the new food stuffs that get mentioned here.)
