….Statesmanlike. Principled, clear and concise.

Whole other level from some of the current incumbents in govt.

Wonder what he’s like as an MP?

Come the next election, if Labour have people like that in senior roles, they could actually be electable?

OP posts:
greatape · 13/12/2021 07:25

He was my MP many many moons ago when he was just elected. He was very present in the community.

My next mp was Iain Duncan Smith. Amazing what a move 5 mins up the road can do.....

Cwenthryth · 13/12/2021 07:28

He can have his moments but he lost me completely when he called women “dinosaurs hoarding rights” for fighting to protect single sex spaces. He also thinks that cervixes can be grown in a male body. I’d say try to listen to him on LBC - sometimes he is on the money, often however he is just so convinced that he is right and everyone else are bigots that he becomes pretty closed minded and just a typical lefty bloke ranting away despite a woeful lack of actual knowledge and understanding on the subject he is prattling on about.

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 13/12/2021 07:30

He talked a lot of sense about Brexit (or, at least, as a Remainer, I thought he did).

I find that description of him hard to square with my view of his being a self indulgent, virtue signalling bitter child

Cyrilgoggin · 13/12/2021 07:33

Nope, not for me - see the comment about cervixes and watch his woeful performance on Mastermind. He does make some good points (I also listen to him on LBC) but I would never want to see him in a senior position. His heart is in the right place, but we should be striving for better in senior government roles.

I seem to remember him being fined during the London mayoral elections a few years ago. I can't remember exactly what for, I think it was something to do with nuisance calls.

FissionMailed · 13/12/2021 07:34

He doesn't like women much, rights hoarding dinosaurs..

NoToast · 13/12/2021 07:43

'Rights hoarding dinosaurs' was his Ratner moment. A cervix being grown in a male body Grin

HeatonGrove · 13/12/2021 07:45

Is he the one who believes men can grow a cervix?

Got to wonder about his judgement.

FissionMailed · 13/12/2021 07:46

I did enjoy the blow back after his comments. The seemed endless women on twitter in Dino costumes making a joke of it.. loved that, some amazingly humourous women out there.

This.
madisonbridges · 13/12/2021 07:50

His belief that people can grow random body parts shows such a lack of intelligence that its hard to credit him with any positive attributes.

PieMistee · 13/12/2021 07:52

God, I can't bear the singletracked mind set of some on MN. Yet half of the above are willing to vote for the Tories, the mist misogynistic cunts in history. I'm proud to be called TERFy (here's looking at you DS) but it's tiresome.

Who has said they're voting Tory?
zen1 · 13/12/2021 07:54

Used to like him, but given his recent comments I don’t think he has much respect for females.

Claudethecat · 13/12/2021 07:58

He is generally a good bloke but perhaps not leadership material. He didn't really make much of an impression in any of his ministerial roles, but he was a lot younger then so maybe he would be better now.

Opal8 · 13/12/2021 08:00

It's dragons that hoard, not dinosaurs...

Can't even abuse us accurately

I'm not voting Tory but I do wish the Labour Party hadn't decided to commit political harakiri. I'm actually furious that I now have no party that speaks for me.
EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 13/12/2021 08:03

Rights hoarding dinosaurs was my first thought too - anyone who can say that clearly has no respect for women.

FreeBritnee · 13/12/2021 08:04

He would throw my rights under the bus in a heart beat. Fuck no.

FreeBritnee · 13/12/2021 08:09

To be clear this has nothing to do with David Lammy particularly. It's any of these civil servants who pander to the far left on Twitter. I think they're far more dangerous than the Tories.

Gretaburley · 13/12/2021 08:09

I’ve never voted Tory and wouldn’t.
But I wouldn’t vote Labour atm and David Lammy needs to stop gaslighting women imo.

donquixotedelamancha · 13/12/2021 08:12

….Statesmanlike. Principled, clear and concise.

Are there two David Lammys?

I'm only familiar with the whiny nut job who peddles identity politics and says anything to get attention.

Blessex · 13/12/2021 08:12

He lost me when he told women who are protecting their safe spaces that we are rights hoarding dinosaurs. Bloody cheek of it.

CamQ · 13/12/2021 08:15

David Lammy statesmanlike- you’ve got to be joking!

AnEpisodeOfEastenders · 13/12/2021 08:20

The guy is an absolute joke of a politician.
