Okay - hands up, I haven't.
But I was reading another thread and it got me thinking.
I love sweet things and am wondering if I should add this to my 2022 bucket list!
Have you tried one? If so a) did you enjoy it? b) did you eat a whole one? and c) would you recommend it for me to try?
Sorry, too many questions Blush

No but I've had a deep fried Flake - tasted essentially like chocolate spread on a pancake.

ISpyCobraKai a pizza crunch is a pizza dipped in batter and then fried rather than just the pizza being deep fried on its own.

Yes, that's what I meant, sorry if I wasn't clear.
I love them.

I buy this, it's like the sauce they have on the East Coast.
That brand also do amazing silverskin pickled onions.

Yes, I shared one with someone. It was pretty good but a few bites were enough. The person I shared it with came from the hometown of the deep fried Mara bar and we were visiting his family. It was part of the “highlights of home” tour.

To be honest, I could see how it could be poshed up pretty well for a restaurant. Small slices, light tempura batter, good vanilla ice cream, drizzle of caramel sauce kind of thing.

If you really want a properly Scottish dessert though look into the puff candy meringue.

Yes I've had a few but a deep fried crunchie is even better if you want something utterly molten. Getting it off your teeth afterwards is quite a feat but worth it.

Our local chippy has them on the menu but it's only there I've ever seen them actually on a menu. Another local one does the deep fried creme egg every year but I've not tried that.

You could just walk into any chippy and ask for any of their chocolate bars to be battered back in the day. We used to go to one near our high school and get a deep fried chomp bar. Only cost 10p so you could keep the rest of your lunch money for whatever you wanted that way.

(And as for pizza crunch it's only recently I've heard it called that, whenever I've had a deep fried pizza it's always had batter on it and didn't even know you could get one without elsewhere until a few weeks ago.)

If the pic works I've added the desserts section from our local chippy. Grin

@Damnloginpopup

Not a full size one no, but I used to batter and deep fry my way through a tub of celebrations every now and again...one of each was a good portion to have.

Think I need to change the oil in my fryer now that Christmas is coming... 😋

Brilliant idea!

Celebrations Tempura with ice cream.

Have you ever tried Maltesers?
