What are your relatively healthy addictions?

I am currently addicted to roasted brussel sprouts. I can't get enough of them, especially if I add shallots and red peppers to the tray. Stir fried sprouts with a ton of garlic and black pepper are equally good.

Likewise roasted kale. I try to use minimal oil when roasting but a little makes it so much better. I can eat an entire bag like that.

Crispy baked tofu is another addiction. I just love the texture.

What are your favourite relatively healthy treats?

Olives stuffed with chilis, it would be the ones stuffed with garlic, but that would be seriously anti-social!

larrythelizard · 06/12/2021 12:31

Cherry tomatoes, I can eat them like sweets! Although last lot I had were tasteless and bland so waiting for them to come back into season

Herbal tea! I like the yogi ones best

I’ve been adding flaxseeds to my porridge which gives it a better texture (and helps my innards!)

They're amazing roasted. I don't parboil. I do tend to use the smaller sprouts but the bigger ones should be fine given enough time, or you can cut them in half. Yes to olive oil, salt and pepper. I often added garlic powder too.

I tend to roast them for 20-30 minutes at Fan 190-200. Check and turn them after the first ten, then check again after then, turn again if you like then check every few minutes after that because they can go from browned to burnt very quickly though personally I think they taste better when they're a little blackened.

You can do the same with frozen sprouts too. No need to defrost.

Dorset Cereals Nutty Granola
I realised I was addicted when my heart sank when it was out of stock!

KrispyKale · 07/12/2021 14:37

Tea.

KrispyKale · 07/12/2021 14:38

With milk. We were cut off in bad weather a few years back and the no proper milk for the tea was the worst part.

Fetchthevet · 07/12/2021 14:48

Cucumber. Would eat it all day every day if I could.

Porridge made with oat milk.

DS2 is addicted to halloumi (actually, I don’t know if that counts as healthy).

TLIMSISNW · 07/12/2021 14:57

Kale crisps. Yum.

Like the ‘seaweed’ for the Chinese but healthier and more delicious.
