Has anyone seen this article in SKY about a Hull grooming gang? It is heartbreaking.

Thats horrific

Fallagain · 25/11/2021 14:09

I’m really not surprised unfortunately. Before the Rotherham stuff came out I was aware through my work of two gangs operating in our small city. It’s terrifying. Hull has very poor areas and significant social issues means there are many venerable young people.

KrispyKale · 25/11/2021 14:16

It's in a lot of places. It's appalling.

Pinkspecs · 25/11/2021 14:17

I am shocked they don't think there is enough evidence.
It's appalling.
What's the point in the police?
No wonder people don't bother coming forward.

julieca · 25/11/2021 14:19

I am a bit haunted by that very young girl mentioned in the article.
And yes looks like the men are going to get away with it.

FreeBritnee · 25/11/2021 14:30

I completely believe that the CPS has made a decision not to pursue this due to being terrified of being accused of racism. They would rather allow young girls lives to be ruined by human trafficking than they would actively pursue the evidence and take it to court.

julieca · 25/11/2021 14:34

@FreeBritnee what do you base that on?
The article doesn't identify the men and the redacted photos show men of different ethnicities including some who appear to be white.

OP posts:
FourTeaFallOut · 25/11/2021 14:38

And again and again and again. What the fuck are the police good for if they can't or won't save girls from this horror story repeated up and down the country? They are just so young and vulnerable.

FusciasBright21 · 25/11/2021 14:45

Humberside Police issued a full statement yesterday:
www.humberside.police.uk/news/update-following-media-coverage-operation-marksman

"Critically the investigation found no evidence of organised child sexual exploitation in any part of our community, either geographically or through ethnicity."

Hmm

I'm appalled for the girls and women that nobody has been prosecuted for this. We all know it happens, we all know where it happens. People have known for years!!

CorrBlimeyGG · 25/11/2021 14:45

@FreeBritnee what do you base that on?

On her own ignorance.

I know more about the allegations (there's a lot of detail online) and the alleged offenders are of various races, including white British. I suspect that a big problem with this case is subjudice, too much information has been put on the internet, and therefore a fair trial would never be possible.

Some of the text messages referred to the young girl as a white slag or slut.
Perhaps that's why the poster thinks they aren't white.

Etinoxaurus · 25/11/2021 14:59

Horrific.
What leapt out at me from the texts was “I’m in trouble where I live”
Not with my mum, or at home, where I live. She was in care 🥺

Pinkspecs · 25/11/2021 15:00

Sorry to correct myself they called her a "white whore" **

pinknikes · 25/11/2021 15:02

Rape has (almost) effectively been legalised in the UK.

I bothered to read the article in full and watch the video. It’s obvious there is a sensitive racial element to this. It’s no coincidence the young girls were white and referred to as white slags and whores. Trying to pretend there is no cultural/racial element to this gets us nowhere even if some of the perps were white British.

FourTeaFallOut · 25/11/2021 15:30

@pinknikes

Rape has (almost) effectively been legalised in the UK.
But this is worse, not just legalised but seemingly industrialised and girls in care are apparently the raw materials.
Thatsplentyjack · 25/11/2021 15:31

Fucking hell, how much evidence do they want vulnerable 13 year old girls who and being abused to gather by themselves!
Basically no one gives a shit.

julieca · 25/11/2021 15:34

"Many young women bravely spoke to us about their ordeals at the hands of abusers they describe as being men of Asian and Middle Eastern backgrounds, including Turkish, Kurdish and Bangladeshi."

www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/chilling-texts-sent-hull-grooming-6254654

There is a range of men involved from a range of ethnicities. No this will not be why the police won't tackle it.

OP posts:
julieca · 25/11/2021 15:39

@FreeBritnee, again and again, grooming gangs target girls they see as vulnerable. That is always the key point.

I dont agree I live in a town somewhat notorious for a similar thing and I really don’t think race is a factor. The Police arrest non white people for various crimes all the time here. I think it’s more about the girls themselves. They often come from difficult backgrounds and there is a feeling in some quarters that they are complicit in some way. If one of the girls came from a nice Mc family I think the Police and other authorities would be more interested The Social worker (Sarah??) who exposed the grooming in Rochdale said the same. It’s more that the girls are disposable than the men are Asian
julieca · 25/11/2021 15:47

@Hoppinggreen I agree. There is the added issue that these crimes are tried in front of juries. Juries don't see nice middle-class girls who talk properly and are polite. They see girls, and usually teenagers, who are working-class, swear and come across as "rough". These things do still affect juries.

OP posts:
FourTeaFallOut · 25/11/2021 15:49

You can't blames juries when the case doesn't even get to court.

Eastridingclub · 25/11/2021 15:51

Appalling.

BorsetshireBanality · 25/11/2021 15:54

One of the reasons people commit crimes is that they think they stand a high probability of getting away with it. In Hull it seems that the men raping these girls are getting away with it, based on the Police/CPS response.
