Madonna’s face? I can’t believe there’s not a thread already?

I can’t fathom what I’m seeing. She has literally got a new face? It’s hurting my head

@nightfairy

The arse. I zoomed in. 😳 what’s between her bum cheeks? Prolapse? Anal skin tag?

I had a good peer at it, and for a moment I swear it looked like a tiny version of her old face in profile trying to get out! It's maybe just the way the fishnets' seam has pulled a bit to the side... It's eye-catching whatever it is.

Loads of posters have been asking this. To me, it looks like the back end/rear view of her vulva.
Pigeoninthehouse · 25/11/2021 11:59

@dreamingbohemian

If you want a more inspiring role model for aging look at Dolly Parton :) yes she's had work done but she's still Dolly, she's an amazing artist who does huge amounts of charity and all sorts of projects with young songwriters.
Madonna has always polarised opinion, with her behaviour. Whereas Dolly just comes across as a nice inoffensive women, that conforms to the stereotype of what a woman should be. (nothing against Dolly) Sometimes you need the former to shake things up a bit and that is what Madonna does best. It might not be her intention, but she does get people thinking about sexuality and what is and gender roles.
the80sweregreat · 25/11/2021 12:06

That bum photo is just awful though.
No need to inflict people with that one!

I think it’s just the seam of her tights.

Madonna was all about promoting female empowerment.

What I find sad about her isn't how she behaves because of her age but because she's almost become a parody of herself.

Her success owed a lot to her reinventing herself and doing something new and refreshing.

She was something to aspire to in many ways.

I always think that women - of any age - who insist on all the surgery - are deeply unhappy and deeply lacking in being in control of their own lives instead handing it over to advisors who are more interested in money rather than well being of their client. They have become a product to sell rather than a human.

Its a loss of sight of any kind of reality. Thats all I really see.

I don't have time for anyone using filters be they rich or poor because I think they are psychologically harmful and led to a cycle of misery and lack of self confidence in who and what we are(and thats mainly women) for both those using them and those viewing them.

I have a lot more time and respect for those who don't resort to doing it.

I don't get why ANY female artist, be they 16 to 60 should feel the need to or think that should need to lie on the floor under the bed with their arse cheeks hanging out. ESPECIALLY one who has a well established career and should have her own power and agency to say, 'why the fuck am I still doing this?'.

When we were kids so many girls wanted to be Madonna. Now I struggle to wonder who the women are who would want to be the current Madonna (apart from the bank account).

I don't expect her to start knitting at all. Strangely enough there are lots of 60 something women who have class and style and are interesting and talented who don't knit. THAT is agist. Its disrespectful to those women in their 50s and 60s who look amazing and aren't ready for the old people's home just yet.

Madonna is aping people half her age rather than leading the way. She's lost the focus on her talent and her music and unique style.

When you are talking about Madonna's backside not her music, you kind of know the styling isn't working. She isn't going to get hoards of young women following her and it limits even the male audience she has to a somewhat niche market - she isn't going to be able to directly compete with women 30 years her junior based on her backside and surgically altered face, so why paint yourself into that corner and limit yourself to that degree. So why is she trying to do that rather than reinventing and trying something new, refreshing and inspiring to a cross generational audience like the male musicans of her age and era did to prolong their careers?

Creatively, she's a wash up and thats the issue for me. There is no shame in being in your 50s and 60s these days. If you look around at a lot of famous women in their sixties, they look damn good and you don't think 'gosh they look haggard' in perhaps the way was the case in the past.

Madonna's problem is not knowing when to say no, thats enough and thinking out the box which was her trademark.

I have to say, that I have much more time for Abba who at least realise that their mythology and image is based on their youth and are finding innovative ways to capture and market that rather than put themselves on stage and shatter that. I do think it a little sad they can't be themselves, but I also think they possibly don't feel they have the fitness to do that too and understand how it might 'damage the brand' so to speak, without compromising themselves and their artist integrity.

If pop and celeb culture is still percieved as the preserve of youth, where are all the artists looking to break that rather than merely desparately trying not to get old? Why are we still focused on backsides and flawless face rather than pure talent? Its all the wrong way round. Its 2021.

Madonna's face and arse are the embodiment of the agism and sexism in the media. Its not the people complaining that they are fed up of surgically altered faces and unrealistic representations of women which don't accurately reflect things as they really are that are agist. Women shouldn't be expected to be trying to look like they are 30 when they are 60. They can be utterly stunning and sexy without doing it. THAT is the problem and trying to turn it around and have a go at people pointing out how harmful and damaging to society and to women in particular is pretty abhorrent and DARVO like.

I can't help but think Madonna is a victim of that culture at this point in her life and has never managed to break free of some of the dinosaur like attitudes of the era she became famous.

Motnight · 25/11/2021 12:19

Madonna owes nothing to anyone else concerning the way that she chooses to look.

Her decision though not to pay people who work for her is awful and disappointing.

Fiftythreepercent · 25/11/2021 12:20

Unfortunately you only need to follow the thread on how fiftysomething women are treated in the workplace to realise that ageism is alive and well. It will come to some of the smug types on this thread in due course.

If someone wants to have work done to look younger to extend their career, be it Madonna, or be it Karen down the road with some Botox injections, they are definitely not the problem

Bambooshoot · 25/11/2021 12:39

What if she’s hired a twenty something body double and is wetting herself laughing at the reactions, knowing full well it’s all a joke and women are held to impossibly high standards? That would explain the daft poses.

lemmein · 25/11/2021 12:39

I completely disagree with previous comments that Madonna doesn't give a fuck about what others think of her; I think she cares very, very deeply and always has.

Deadringer · 25/11/2021 12:46

I'm delighted that Madonna is still pissing people off with her art you misspelled arse there.

LittleDandelionClock · 25/11/2021 12:49

Saw THIS pic on her instagram too. As a pp said, her legs have clearly been photoshopped to look much longer.

No WAY are these her 'normal length' legs! They look batshit! 😂

SirChenjins · 25/11/2021 12:51

I'm sure that's an Ikea bed

LagneyandCasey · 25/11/2021 13:10

I agree she doesn't look like herself anymore. Even well into her 50s she was still beautiful and natural. When I look at her now I don't recognise her face at all.

I wouldn't do it myself as I think once you start but, you can't stop. It's her face and it's up to her though.

I still love her and am so grateful to her for what she gave us in the 80s and 90s. It was a brilliant time and unless you were there n the middle of it you have no idea what a total star and phenomenon she was.

This.

The word 'insecurity' hangs in the air.

TarasCrazyTiara · 25/11/2021 13:23

@WhatHoMarjorie

I’ve got a hunch that Eilish is going to be more trouble than either current Madonna or Gaga. She seems to have serious body image and confidence issues and just a general overwhelming complex about showing/not showing her body.

TarasCrazyTiara · 25/11/2021 13:25

@Jackofallsorts

You don’t think of George Clooney had deforming plastic surgery and took a picture of his arse with his torso under a bed people would talk about it negatively?

Theplantisgrowing · 25/11/2021 13:29

That bed photo, all the tutt on the bedside table ....

midsomermurderess · 25/11/2021 13:35

I had a look at the Mail photos. This one, what the fuck is it with the hand? It looks like she nicked it from a docker. The arse sticking out from under the bed is loopy. And there was one with a man holding a big knife to her throat. How is any of this erotic or 'empowering'?

Kanaloa · 25/11/2021 13:41

@Restawhile

Yes she’s had work but she’s clearly worked her arse off to look so toned and slim.

I say go Madonna , she’s trying to show that us older ladies can still be sexy and are sexual. Most men’s comments are disapproving and don’t like it. Good !

I think she’s showing the exact opposite. She’s filtering and photoshopping her face so she looks twenty. That doesn’t scream ‘older women can be sexy’ it more says ‘you need to try to look young enough to be your own granddaughter.’
PleasantBirthday · 25/11/2021 13:50

@babouchette

The marvellous thing about Madonna is that she gives zero fucks - and always has - about what other people think. You may not like how she looks, but she does. Good for her I say. Not everyone has to "age gracefully".
I think the opposite. The amount of time and money she spends on her appearance shows that she does care what people think, very much indeed.

Personally, I don't care what surgery she has or doesn't have, it doesn't matter to me at all. But I do think that reconstructing herself to resemble a Kardashian is a hard way to spend your life. Obviously, she's free to do it but I certainly wouldn't say that's an example of a person who's accepted anything about themselves, their age or has much that they genuinely enjoy in life.

EishetChayil · 25/11/2021 14:11

I'm mortified for her.

SecretKeeper1 · 25/11/2021 15:16

@EishetChayil

I’m more mortified about the amount of make up there must be on those lovely white sheets Shock
turnaroundtime · 25/11/2021 15:34

@Amandasummers

I don’t have a problem with it, but the photo with her hair in braids…that’s not fillers and Botox is it??? It’s an entire new face. There is no resemblance of her? She’s not her but younger, she’s not her at all?!
You need to look into filters OP. I don't think you realise what they do. You can totally change your appearance. You can even filter yourself in videos now so you look like your new self whilst moving. It's not a minor thing. Filters are like photoshop++.
Soontobe60 · 25/11/2021 15:41

@Amandasummers

Yeah I’m not slagging off her looks, I’m just stunned because it’s literally a new face! I hope she didn’t get her teeth done. I’ve always referred to my gap as “the Madonna”
If someone asked me who was in the photo, I’d have said Madonna. Even if it didn’t look anything like how she looked a few years ago, what’s the issue? Are women not allowed to change their minds about cosmetic surgery?
