Madonna’s face? I can’t believe there’s not a thread already?

I can’t fathom what I’m seeing. She has literally got a new face? It’s hurting my head

I am not Madonna - bashing and I have been really interested in reading the different views on this thread. The problem for me is, this isn't an older woman giving society the two fingers and celebrating older women as 'not invisible'. This is an older woman conforming to the stereotypes and saying, 'you have to look young to be sexy/I feel the need to look young or I'm not sexy.' She's not challenging the stereotypes at all which is disappointing as I am at an age now where I am wondering where my youth went. I want to be inspired that being older and looking older is fine!

whitehorsesdonotlie · 25/11/2021 10:31

She looks like she's searching for a contact lens in one pic... oh dear. Her kids must be mortified.

Come on, Madonna, you don't need to do this!

LittleDandelionClock · 25/11/2021 10:33

@divface

Was just coming here to start a thread

She looks like a teenager which is unnerving

Sher really REALLY does NOT look like a teenager. No woman over the age of 30 looks like a teenager, no matter how much botox, filters, or make up she uses.

Also, I have never understood why, on mumsnet, it's classed as a cardinal sin to criticize anyone (particularly a woman,) over the age of 60, without screams of AGEIST!!!!!Confused

Anything remotely negative, said about a woman over 60 (no matter how well-deserved or reasonable,) is classed as 'ageist.' Utterly ludicrous. And I am past middle age, and wouldn't give a shit if someone put as a description of me... 'blonde, average built, senior-age woman!'

cleocleo81 · 25/11/2021 10:35

@SarahBellam

Well, I for one and shouting from the rooftops, "good for her". I'd much rather her continue to be her outrageous exciting self than have her sitting in a country manor in her twin set, clutching her pearls. That would be more shocking!
But she's not herself, she's turned back time by stopping ageing. She can be shocking and fun looking her age. I would say good for her if she hadn't completely changed herself. It completely goes against the good for you manta.
the80sweregreat · 25/11/2021 10:39

The general consensus is one of mild irritation or amusement , probably not the reaction she would want at all. She wants to shock and stay relevant , which she won't as most young people won't be interested and older women everywhere will just shrug and know that they couldn't afford to have any work done anyway and have to work with what we have. Most men probably don't care either.
It's all just attention seeking rubbish.

PaulRuddsWife · 25/11/2021 10:40

She had a good long reign but now the likes of Gaga and Eilish have taken over and she's been sidelined somewhat.

Not just that, but Gaga has followed the template that Madonna set years ago and has more or less surpassed her. Madonna could only dream of being nominated for an Oscar for her acting. I think she's feeling a very real pressure to come up with something new and exciting and is instead falling back on what she's always done.

@BedisBliss I completely agree with what you've said there.

Jackofallsorts · 25/11/2021 10:44

It's her face (and ass). Why all of a sudden are famous women now free to be criticised by the public when they choose to have surgery. Feminism my ass

nextdoorslawnmower · 25/11/2021 10:46

What is in her butt cheeks?

foxgoosefinch · 25/11/2021 10:49

Ah come on, Debbie Harry was at the Met Gala this year and she could barely speak to the interviewer as her face didn’t move! She looked like a ventriloquist’s dummy! 🤣

Madonna was never particularly feminist, unless you think the “I’m profiting off my own tits and arse show instead of someone else” stuff is real empowerment, rather than just being the person at the top of the female exploitation MLM pyramid. All it does is entrench and reinforce the sexual objectification of all the other women below you in society, who aren’t in the privileged position of creaming off profit from it.

Same goes for Nicki Minaj et al, nothing to do with age.

I do think someone who goes that far with surgery and pretend photos, must have some quite serious mental health issues around accepting reality that are not edifying or admirable.

No, her ass 🤣

Seriously though, she’s released these as public photos to the public and the public aren’t allowed to comment? They’re not leaked boudoir shoots for her eyes only. They’re to publicise her tour!

TomelettewithGreggs · 25/11/2021 10:55

Have never enjoyed Madonna-she was always very "look at me"!- and don't enjoy Nicki Minaj and others of that type.

Emily Ratajowski ( cba to check spelling) has just written a whole book about how she now believes she hasn't benefited from profiting off her tits and arse, but has been objectified instead. No shit, Emily?

TomelettewithGreggs · 25/11/2021 10:59

Also, I don't know what "girl power" means in this context. Why is it always showing your ass?

ssd · 25/11/2021 11:04

She looks like a lot of people now but Madonna isnt one of them

ssd · 25/11/2021 11:05

It must be shite being a world famous mega popstar where no one tells you to get a fucking grip

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 25/11/2021 11:12

She’s clearly just looking for her skirt under the bed. We’ve all been there. Grin

Yes I agree with this

It's not true that Madonna gives no fucks, she has always been a raging narcissist who wants everyone's attention, and it's the same thing now.

She's a terrible actress and mediocre singer who became famous by being sexually provocative and relying on true artists in music and dance to keep her ahead of the curve. I personally never saw her as a role model or artist, she was a pop superstar trying to sell records.

I don't think women should have to age gracefully but nothing Madonna is doing right now is interesting or provocative, it's just vanity and desperation, like it's always been.

dreamingbohemian · 25/11/2021 11:17

If you want a more inspiring role model for aging look at Dolly Parton :) yes she's had work done but she's still Dolly, she's an amazing artist who does huge amounts of charity and all sorts of projects with young songwriters.

Couldn’t agree more! She is my idol. She will be 76 in January.
TonytheDog · 25/11/2021 11:23

I've just looked at her Instagram - she's so far up her own arse she's eaten herself.

She looks like a plastic doll, she surely can't believe people think she really looks like that.

Margaret aAtwood is 82 and looks far cooler than plastic Madonna.

Madonna’s face? I can’t believe there’s not a thread already?
ssd · 25/11/2021 11:27

Dolly is a total legend

dreamingbohemian · 25/11/2021 11:30

Yes and still relevant -- did you see the Lil Nas X cover of Jolene? Really beautiful, and Dolly loved it, now they might do a song together apparently

(Sorry for Dolly derail!)

BedisBliss · 25/11/2021 11:32

@dreamingbohemian

Totally agree - Dolly has always been so upfront about work done and invented her 'dumb blonde' thing while being a fantastic and talented philanthropist who just gets on with it. She is a positive role model, and clearly is confident in herself and gives no shits.

OrangeJuiceAndNoodles · 25/11/2021 11:33

It's not just in pictures though.

I saw her talking recently and it was like she'd had her entire face injected with litres of jelly. The way it moved (or didn't) was so unnatural.

MaddieElla · 25/11/2021 11:39

I don't care about the stupid filers, but I can't believe no one has mentioned you can see her actual nipple in the first photo! How is that allowed on Instagram? Other people are banned but because she's Madonna it's "art"?

nightfairy · 25/11/2021 11:52

The arse. I zoomed in. 😳 what’s between her bum cheeks? Prolapse? Anal skin tag?

I had a good peer at it, and for a moment I swear it looked like a tiny version of her old face in profile trying to get out! It's maybe just the way the fishnets' seam has pulled a bit to the side... It's eye-catching whatever it is.
