What quirky song did you walk down the aisle to?

I'm getting married next year and want something fun to walk down the aisle to. We're having a non-religious ceremony in the centre of Manchester and it'll be a fairly non-traditional affair so I'm looking for something quirky and not your usual fluffy love song.

Please inspire me with your songs Smile

On leaving the church ds and dil had this.
Made everyone smile.

I ended up with Muse Feeling Good, but my first choice was Live and Let Die Grin

I went to a wedding where they walked down the aisle to ‘we go together’ from Grease

Not sure if it’s the kind of thing you’re after but we had the acoustic version of Everlong by Foo Fighters.

Scarby9 · 14/11/2021 08:31

I don't know what you count as quirky, but my goddaughter, at her otherwise very traditional church wedding, danced down the aisle to Mumford and Sons (ThWedding Band) She said yes!
It was joyful.

Possibly outing... But we walked out to the theme tune form Black Beauty.

The rest of the ceremony was relatively serious classical music (unlike the reception which was more contemporary).

This! I've wanted to do it since it was in Friends as they're my favourite band and finally managed it!

We went to wedding where the couple had a slightly drippy acoustic song
It was only after a while that we realised it was a cover of No Scrubs by TLC..!

It was an in joke with the couple and they were absolutely delighted to know some people had clocked it, but that the older generation didn’t realise the significance

They then had ‘gold digga’ as their first dance Grin

BonnesVacances · 14/11/2021 09:11

We had ABBA I do I do I do.

FrankiesKnuckle · 14/11/2021 09:11

We had movin' on up by Primal Scream.

LefttoherownDevizes · 14/11/2021 09:12

Makin' Whoopee by Ricki Lee Jones and Dr John (our original choice of Stevie Wonder was vetoed by the Registrar as mentioned God!)

Sparechange · 14/11/2021 09:15

The World is Watching by Two Door Cinema Club

The lyrics for the chorus are ‘I want you with me…’ which felt fitting
And DH is northern Irish and more than slightly obsessed with any band from NI..!

JazzTheDog · 14/11/2021 09:17

We had 'Lets get married' by the Proclaimers and Queen 'Don't stop me now' on the way in and Starship 'Nothings gonna stop us now' and Evanescence 'Bring me to life' on the way out!

Final count down (by Europe) arranged to be played by a string quartet- it was fab 🤣

maddiemookins16mum · 14/11/2021 09:19

Jimmy Durante, ‘make someone happy’. It was just perfect.

We had this on the way out 🥰
VenusClapTrap · 14/11/2021 09:24

Some friends of mine walked down the aisle to Fatboy Slim’s ‘Don’t let the Man Get You Down’. For those unfamiliar with it, the only lyrics in the song are “And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply”. They are both long haired freaky people, so this was perfect.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 14/11/2021 09:27

Feuer Frei! - Rammstein
No sentimental reasons but both of us love the band and it was fun to jump out of the venue door on the chorus Grin

The curtains closed on MILs coffin at the crem to Don't Stop me Now. Genius choice BUT It's quite popular on the radio so DH often has to pull over to compose himself
