What quirky song did you walk down the aisle to?

I'm getting married next year and want something fun to walk down the aisle to. We're having a non-religious ceremony in the centre of Manchester and it'll be a fairly non-traditional affair so I'm looking for something quirky and not your usual fluffy love song.

Please inspire me with your songs Smile

I walked down the aisle to ‘You’re so cool’ from True Romance which is one of our favourite films.

And we walked back up the aisle to Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News.

Sally cinnamon by The Stone Roses 🙌🙌🙌

Toddleberry · 14/11/2021 11:48

We had loud like love by placebo while we were signing the register. It was actually a nod to our best friend, and BF stood up and just shouted how much they loved us at this point. It was the best thing ever, they’re so important to us and we wanted to give them a special mention. Still well up whenever I hear that song

Signed the registry to - 'You're in Love with a Psycho'. Kasabian - favourite band.

First dance was 'Take Over the World' by The Courteeners.

Omg I LOVE this!

If we ever renew our vows I am stealing this. I'm the biggest Eurovision geek ever 😂

@SpookyScarySkeletons

Most people just thought it was a lovely fanfare….my close friends thought it was hysterical

You Make My Dreams Come True, Hall and Oates.

Walked into the registry office to U2 All I Want Is You and out to David Bowie's Heroes.

H had always said it would be The Smiths Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now but changed his mind due to the request at which "Caligula would have blushed" and the reference to being nice to people he would "much rather kick in the eye" as he thought his Mum wouldn't be happy.

PermanentTemporary · 14/11/2021 12:36

Walked out to a jazz instrumental - She's Funny That Way played by Joe Pass. Meaningful for us and very gentle.

usernotfound0000 · 14/11/2021 12:36

Life's a happy song from the Muppet movie! We walked out to it.

I've actually been thinking about this as True Romance is my all-time favourite film as wellSmile

@bellissimiaow do it, it’s a lovely piece of music anyway but I think it’s a perfect ‘down the aisle’ song, especially when it has a bit of meaning.

Brilliant taste though it’s a bloody great film. Was vetoed on calling DD Alabama though 👀😂

bellissimiaow · 14/11/2021 13:32

@grealishhairband we had two cats called Clarence and Alabama for years Grin

A-ha - Take on me.

Forestcantrun · 14/11/2021 14:32

@Lizardcentral this was my first choice as it sounds amazing on strings but DH vetoed.
Went Beach Boys instead. In fairness, the BBs always make me smile so it was a great choice in the end.

Redannie118 · 14/11/2021 14:32

Me and DH are a bit gothy so for our civil ceremony i walked down the aisle to Love song for a vampire by Annie Lennox. Its the love theme from Bram Stokers Dracula movie and my wedding dress was a scarlet satin ballgown like the one Winona Ryder wears in the movie

FuckingFabulous · 14/11/2021 14:35

I desperately wanted "Fuck Her Gently" played by a string quartet, but ours absolutely refused to do it at the last minute. Dicks. Instead we had something else, but we did sign the register to them playing "Marry You" by Bruno Mars

BackAwayFatty · 14/11/2021 14:39

Our choices to walk down the aisle are;

Bridesmaids; Jurassic Park Theme by the Piano Guys.

Bride; The wedding March by Queen

Still deciding what we will walk back out too!

MrsTWH · 14/11/2021 15:14

We walked down the aisle to Jackie Wilson’s (Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher. It was fun, and everyone was having a little bop 😂

drspouse · 14/11/2021 15:29

Oh we also had a jazz duo (they played Oh When the Saints) and they played this for us as well. These were also sung by the congregation, and two regular hymns (just played by a pianist, no sax)

C8H10N4O2 · 14/11/2021 15:43

Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. Start as you mean to go on!

afrikat · 14/11/2021 15:45

I walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of Sweet Child Of Mine, it was perfect 🥰
The end of ceremony song was Sweet Home Alabama
