Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my usual cup of tea, in silence. The main road not far away sounds busy from here but the only other sound is the fridge humming.

We're having a lazy one I think. I'll iron, do a load of washing, and wash up but that's about it house - wise.

I plan to spend the day crafting - I have a tiny house I want to finish, for my Christmas village, and a couple of Christmas cards I want to make. I could do with making my very scribbley Christmas list into an actual list too, so I can nip to town next week to finish stocking filler shopping!

Dd1 has a history test next week so I expect she'll do some revision for that. She's cooking later on I think; some sort of chicken with noodles and stir fried veg.

I'm not sure about dd2. She was looking forward to starting her new book but I acidentally bought the one before it in the series :(

What about all of you? Anyone up to much? :)

I'm at the community centre having a flu jab in one arm and a covid booster in the other 🤪

Cup of tea when I get home I think 😄

nc198567 · 13/11/2021 09:35

Took DD1 to dance. Having a hot chocolate in a cafe nearby while I wait to pick her up. My Saturday morning tradition.

DH and DD2 are out walking ddog getting in some fresh air.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 09:39

Just watched the end of a Christmas movie that I started last night.

Need to charge my kindle, as I'd like to read. I also have to do some online training for work.

Would like to do some decluttering. Never seem to get far with it, although I did get rid of a lot of clothes recently and have a much less cluttered wardrobe now.

What else? Hmmmm might make a Christmas cake tomorrow, so may shop for for ingredients today.

Dh might take kids out so I can do my training, but don't know. If not, I might take one of them to either cinema or pottery painting.

ItsSnotFair · 13/11/2021 09:50

Fed up of slobbing around so I've done my nails, put a dress on and some high heeled boots that I usually save for best
I feel like it's Christmas day

BigRedDuck · 13/11/2021 10:04

Currently in the bath with a cup of tea. My best friend is picking me up at midday as we are travelling to Birmingham to see Fatboy Slim tonight.
I am currently adjusting to new medication for depression and I'm a bit anxious about going.

DH will be here with the DCs, I imagine they will go out to the park and cook macaroni cheese for dinner as I'm not here (dairy intolerant). I'm sure he will let them have far too much screen time too 😂

Loveatthe5anddime · 13/11/2021 10:07

Lazy start here, DH just got up and took the dog out, fed the ponies and made me a cup of tea in bed.

We need to nip into town to buy a picture frame and then are going to finish decorating and putting together DD2’s bedroom...

DD1 has a friend coming over for a few hours and need to take DD3 riding.

Tonight we have our Pony Clubs social which we are all going to, looking forward for to it and the plate of sausage rolls that DH is going to make to take along.

Hoppinggreen · 13/11/2021 10:08

I am still waiting for everyone else to get up.
We need to go and collect my car from the garage where by some miracle it has passed its MOT! It’s old and knackered but keeps starting first time and as it’s bought and paid for I really can’t justify a new one until it dies.
Then I am taking DDs phone to be mended (again) but we will do some shopping while we wait so that will be nice and hopefully DH will have cleared the leaves off the front lawn by the time we get back.
Tonight we are going to the DDs BFs house where his lovely mum is cooking and wine will be had.
Hope everyone else enjoys their day

👋 @lucysmam

We’re in bed having a cup of coffee.

I’ve already nipped downstairs to put the mince meat in the oven to cook for three hours.

In a few minutes I’m going to make our breakfast (toasted rye bread, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, earl grey tea). Then I’ll make up the dough for another loaf of rye bread and leave it to prove. After that I need to go to the supermarket to get some celery for our dinner tonight (lamb leg, pot roasted with juniper and white wine).

It’s my DH’s birthday week so we’re having a celebratory day today.

We’ll have a traditional Danish lagkage (layer cake) with vanilla cream, whipped cream and strawberry compote.

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 10:24

@HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule, can I please ask what you are making with the oven cooked mince meat? Do you mean the sort you'd find in a mince pie or minced beef/lamb/pork?

Sorry, I'm a nosy cow

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 13/11/2021 10:28

@AreYouRightThereSkippy yes, it’s the mincemeat that we’re going to use to make mince pies throughout December. 🎄🎄🎄

I use Delia’s recipe:

www.deliaonline.com/recipes/books/delias-happy-christmas/home-made-christmas-mincemeat

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 13/11/2021 10:30

Ooooo thanks. I'm a terrible cook, so that would be a bit advanced for me! But I was intrigued.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 13/11/2021 10:34

It’s honestly the easiest thing in the world to make.

You don’t have to make traditional mince pies with it - you can buy flaky pastry readymade and make little parcels, or sandwich it between slices of pandoro or pannetone and fry to make a ‘cake’, to be had with a dusting of icing sugar and a dollop of cream...

🎄🎄🎄

So far the toddler and I have been to Asda and the dog has shat herself inside out all over the living room because she ate a discarded kebab on her walk this morning. She's very allergic to basically everything and managed to wait until I'd gone out before exploding. So nice to come home toHmm she got the kebab before I could stop her the dickhead.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 13/11/2021 10:40

Lying in bed with Covid Sad.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/11/2021 10:41

I just finished scrubbing the kitchen and the baking utensils in preparation for the first round of Christmas baking, which will happen this afternoon.
DS is gaming, DD is reading stuff for uni, DH working as usual. He has already done the weekly food shop.

pixiedust21 · 13/11/2021 10:43

Had a little lie in. Today will mostly be pottering around and looking after our 2 week old :) I am still recovering a bit from the c section so I won't do much but I might have a little wander to M+S which is five mins away to look for some new pyjamas.

We have some visitors this afternoon and then DH and I are planning to try and go to the local pub for an early tea, all fit around baby's feeding times!

Any time unaccounted for will be me snuggled on sofa with baby and some films I think.

AlbusDumbledore2234 · 13/11/2021 10:43

We have no food in the house so its off to Sainsburys for a big shop, may also do the Food Warehouse and stock up on some freezer bits too.

DD has a sleepover tonight so just me a DP this evening, may go out for a meal and stroll round the harbour, weather depending Grin

GrabTheDayByTheBalls · 13/11/2021 10:48

Thanks to youngest being up 6.30 am.

Cleaned bathroom
Packed away all the bits in lounge for decorating
Just had shower.

Then take youngest to ILS. Then middle one to a party. Collect youngest.
Quick tea for them pasta and meatballs.
Get them bathed and hopefully early night for them.
Then start some painting in lounge :/ dh is working all day prob till late 9/10pm then plan to do a chow mein and some chilli and garlic chicken with rice. BUT chances are we'll order food as its not 11am and I'm already shattered

EileenGC · 13/11/2021 10:52

Very lazy start here as I didn't go to sleep until 2am. Was meant to go to church this morning but didn't. I will probably have a long phone call with my sister in a little bit, and try grab a quick nap after lunch.

Will leave for work around 4pm, back at midnight. The highest concentration point will need to be 10-11pm and I have no idea how I'll keep myself awake enough until then...

EarringsandLipstick · 13/11/2021 10:54

I always love these threads @lucysmam 🥰

Some of your days sound lovely. My Saturday is like every other, rushing around to kids' sports. Early start with HIIT class for me, then rush to DS1 match, quick pit stop for lunch before soccer training for DS1 & 2. Need to fit in some grocery shopping & all the housework 😭

I do enjoy being out & about all the time, watching kids' sports but it's exhausting.

Tomorrow starts at 8 with another match, then training for DD, so maybe by Sunday afternoon I'll have a chance to take a minute!

Nandiniti · 13/11/2021 11:03

I posted on the other thread from earlier, but at the time I was lolling around feeling a bit weary after a long dog walk. I galvanised myself to get showered and changed and then go and start messing around with my nails (in a room outside) - but got a message to say that my eternity ring is coming back today and needs a signature, so I'm afraid to get in the shower or disappear outside in case I miss the postman.

I haven't been able to wear it for a year - it was always slightly too small anyway and left a dent in my finger after many years of wear, and when I put on some lockdown weight it became just too uncomfortable. It's been banished to a drawer until last week when I sent it away to be resized, so I'm excited to have it back.

Therealjudgejudy · 13/11/2021 11:07

Went into the city this morning with my mum for a festive costa latte and some shopping. Back home now eating cheese on toast.

Later will rake the leaves and then chill and watch tv

runwithme · 13/11/2021 11:15

Took the car to the garage, had a hot chocolate and lovely walk in peace, then did the food shop. Took the kids to their club, waiting for them to finish, then home, tidy up a bit and make lunch. DH is whf so I feel like I need to be busy but now just want to relax!

ilovebagpuss · 13/11/2021 11:17

I woke up early thinking it was a work day and although it was a joy to realise it’s not I was then awake at 7.20!
So far I have butchered a bit bit of mutton my DH bought for my DF but he couldn’t use it and that’s in the slow cooker.
Popped to the chemist and post office and entertained our kitten in between. She’s very vocal and miows if she can’t see anyone so she needs a lot of play and cuddles (the hardship)
My eldest DD is working later so she’s having a lazy day, we might pop to a garden centre to look at the Christmas baubles.
Youngest DD is tired from school and had a hard week after her Covid Jab and is full of cold so she will probably be minecrafting and she wants to make some soda bread.
All a bit tired and jaded generally so it’s a day to potter. Except for DH who has gone for a long run with his mate!

dorothygaleandtoto · 13/11/2021 11:24

Parkrun followed by tea and bacon sandwiches. Home for a bath now and then going for a pregnancy massage that was gifted to me by some lovely friends.
