Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm drinking my usual cup of tea, in silence. The main road not far away sounds busy from here but the only other sound is the fridge humming.

We're having a lazy one I think. I'll iron, do a load of washing, and wash up but that's about it house - wise.

I plan to spend the day crafting - I have a tiny house I want to finish, for my Christmas village, and a couple of Christmas cards I want to make. I could do with making my very scribbley Christmas list into an actual list too, so I can nip to town next week to finish stocking filler shopping!

Dd1 has a history test next week so I expect she'll do some revision for that. She's cooking later on I think; some sort of chicken with noodles and stir fried veg.

I'm not sure about dd2. She was looking forward to starting her new book but I acidentally bought the one before it in the series :(

What about all of you? Anyone up to much? :)

I've just mopped all the floors and tidied up after DS went on the rampage this morning. He's now lying down with a blanket so I'm having a coffee and reading MN ☕️

MrsDThomas · 13/11/2021 11:54

Cleaning, walk and watching Im a celebrity helicopter ms flying round.

Very busy this morning 🚁🚁🚁

DroopyClematis · 13/11/2021 11:57

Ooh, that's exciting @MrsDThomas , are they practicing then?

MrsDThomas · 13/11/2021 12:05

Not too sure. Lots of going back and forth local refuelling) and they are busy in the quarries. There is a gantry being built! Its in the papers

StillMedusa · 13/11/2021 12:07

I have Covid and am moderately poorly with it, so my aim for today is to be upright, showered and practise a new Piano piece!

On the plus side, dh is having to walk the dog, do the shopping et etc (he is testing negative every day..HOW!?)

whymewhyme · 13/11/2021 12:13

I've finished work, gone to asda brought 3 1l bottles of bailies...as you do when they are a tenner! I'm making lunch now then off to ride the horses.

SalemWitchCraft · 13/11/2021 12:15

I'm dying my blonde hair brown and pink, getting a fringe - total new hairstyle - scared but excited!

RoseMartha · 13/11/2021 12:18

🤗 to poorly posters

Had a lazy morning as had my booster yesterday and arm painful to raise, teens had lie in.

I am now up and dressed and have just hung a load of washing up.

They are getting ready. I said we will pop out for a snack type lunch and a short walk. (My teens dont make plans even when I suggest it). They will get the lunch they want and I will get the walk I want.

Then I will supervise some homework as one of them needs support. And then they will chill and I have a few household jobs I need to do.

scooterbear · 13/11/2021 12:23

Been to dd1's football, dropped the dogs off at kennels (left to very dirty looks from them), now waiting for dp to come back from dss's football then we can set off as we are having a night away tonight and a fancy dinner-for no other reason than it's a nice thing to do and we have both been poorly with chest infections for the best part of the last month Smile

TheLastLonelyBakedBean · 13/11/2021 12:31

Everyone is sick or snotty or on antibiotics. I have done sweet nothing this morning, so now got to try and make a dent in the never ending housework mountain.

Seems like this is my new Saturday routine... why is everyone in my family always ill? It's been constant this term. Anyone else?

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 13/11/2021 12:50

I feel rough thanks to catching dh’s cold, head spinning and feeling sick.
Dog is bored and waiting for DH to take her for a walk, DH is faffing around and all I want to do is go back to bed.

Crunchymum · 13/11/2021 13:56

@whymewhyme

I did the same with Sainsburys (for gifts. Although I may keep one for us) but they were £12. Don't have an Asda near me though.

Usual morning - swimming lesson, shopping delivery, bulk of homework.

Older two DC and DP have gone to the woods this afternoon so youngest DC and I have gone to pick up DC1 birthday cake and balloons (for tomorrow). I'll whizz the hoover round and do the ironing later. Wine and takeaway for us after kids go to bed. I'm fancying a mezze for 2.

I love these threads.

They are very calming.

This morning i got up and nipped into town as i wanted to get some money out of the bank as i have misplaced my card and the new one hasnt arrived yet.

And got my free bacon buttie from gregs from the 02 app.

Then i came home and washed up.

Dd is at her Saturday job , little one is on the xbox , dh is helping my friends mum with some diy jobs.

I might do a washload later- thats it !

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 13/11/2021 14:39

I've cleaned the kitchen, done a load of laundry and done most of the work on the banner the kids are supposed to be making for my sister's birthday, so I'm feeling quite justified in having a sit down now. I've lit the fire so it's nice and cosy.

The kids are a bit under the weather with snots, temperatures and tonsils like tennis balls, so they're curled up in front of the fire with books and blankets. DD has just finished making a batch of doughnut muffins which should be ready in about 15 minutes.

DH has gone shopping, and as usual has been gone for faaaaaaaar longer than could reasonably be expected, so who knows what he'll come home with?

The cats are having a snooze; they had a massive sleep this morning, but then had to watch us having lunch, which was exhausting, apparently.

Eggsley · 13/11/2021 14:53

Love these threads!

We were up early to put the goals up at the football club for DH's team's match. DS1 stayed at home and DS2 was bribed to help with promises of a bacon roll afterwards. DH stayed up there, DS and I came home. Then I had my hair done. Then we went to Lidl to get some rolls for lunch.

Not much planned for this afternoon, DS2 and DH are watching tv, DS1 is gaming upstairs. I'm in the garden with DDog as I think he needs the toilet but he's busy digging up plants 🙄 We need to get him a new lead later on. I've got some work to do for a couple of hours later. DH and I will watch a film when the DC are in bed later. I will be having popcorn and wine!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 13/11/2021 18:54

Love these threads

We had a quiet morning, DH got up with the younger children as I was up from 3-4am with them. Tea in bed for me and I finished my book yay!

This afternoon was beautiful weather so we met friends at a national trust place near us and had coffee and cake at the cafe outdoor tables.

Had pizza for tea.

Wine chocolate and TV once children asleep tonight!

@bestcattoyintheworld

I'm at the community centre having a flu jab in one arm and a covid booster in the other 🤪

Cup of tea when I get home I think 😄

I was wondering about this @bestcattoyintheworld I'm having my covid booster next week and I also need my flu jab. Is it ok to have them at the same time? Would save making a separate trip!
LoveFall · 13/11/2021 19:11

Quiet day so far. Velcro dog snoozing on my lap as I contemplate evicting him and taking a shower.

bestcattoyintheworld · 13/11/2021 19:24

No, they encouraged me to have both as the initial appointment was just for a flu jab, but they said they've just had permission to give a covid booster before the sixth month mark so were cracking on and doing both. Dh had both as well.

mamaduckbone · 13/11/2021 20:20

We had a bit of a slow start then took ds2 (12) shopping this morning as we realised he only has one pair of jeans that fit. Successful trip all round - I bought some Christmas bits and Dh located Red Stag, as well as trousers, so all good.
We lit the fire, opened a bottle of red wine and watched the rugby this evening. Ds1 (15) went out with mates after doing revision for mocks and gym, Ds2 had a PS4 binge and has joined us now. We're watching Point Break. Keano Reeves was so pretty in the 90s! Smile

Babysitting for a friend. Need the loo but child has fallen asleep. In a separate part of house and loo trip would involve noisy doors. Child could wake up. Dilemma.

On the plus side friend must be having a good time as not heard anything for a while. She said the reception was bad.
