Teabags

Hi

Can I pick your brain this morning and ask that you give me your best suggestion for teabags? I’ve been using Tetley like forever and feel it’s time to switch up as I’m just not getting that good cuppa kick from it.

I love my tea, drink around 3 cups a day minimum. The one that is suggested the most I shall purchase on my next shop!

Thanks

Clipper breakfast tea first thing then Twinings breakfast decaf for the rest of the day. The decaf doesn’t have the full tang of the standard version but it’s the best one I’ve found, and I need to keep my caffeine down so it does the job nicely.

Teapigs everyday brew but it’s just too expensive sadly.

2nd best is Yorkshire

Punjana. My office is tea obsessed and we've done the rounds and this brand has always been favoured.

We get teapigs everyday loose tea on Amazon subscribe and save so it's not as expensive as it could be.

PG Tips currently. Recently, Sainsbury's Red Label (?) and Yorkshire. All much the same.

What I'd really like is t-bags with the tag so I can get them out the cup easily. The seem to have gone out of fashion and I can't find any.

twilightcafe · 09/11/2021 15:49

Which supermarkets stock Punjana tea?

Bert2e · 09/11/2021 16:42

Assam or Sainsbury's Gold which are now biodegradable!

shrugitoff · 09/11/2021 18:08

Punjana
Barry's Tea

@twilightcafe
I tend to get Punjana in home bargains or B&M

Vbree · 09/11/2021 18:53

Yorkshire tea all the way. The decaf one was the only one that didn't taste like gnats water when I was pregnant too!

Wow really? I order online as never seen it in a shop outside of Northern Ireland. I need to investigate

WildRosie · 09/11/2021 20:08

I use Marks and Spencer Extra Strong teabags at home and Waitrose Gold Extra Strong at the office. They're much the same price but the Waitrose bags suit the water there better.

angela99999 · 09/11/2021 20:19

Yorkshire tea for me too, they do one for hard water.

RedCarsGoFaster · 09/11/2021 20:25

Yorkshire Tea. Brewed strong enough to stand a spoon in then drowned with plenty of milk. Lush.

Clipper is bland and insipid yet bitter
Twinings Breakfast and Everyday are both tasteless
PG Tips are just a bit meh
Dorset and Cornish Tea are bitter and unpleasant

Need to investigate this Punjana tea!

shrugitoff · 09/11/2021 20:25

I get Punjana in Tesco Ireland

Poshjock · 09/11/2021 20:26

@Whitney168

I was on Lidl Knightsbridge Gold for a long while, but they seem to have completely changed and have no oomph to them any more, so am now buying Clipper Classic Everyday (added benefit of no plastic).

Currently have some Barry's that a friend sent me, and they are great if you can get them locally.

Oh my god, my friend was just talking about Barry's Tea earlier. She's on holiday in Portugal and found some in a shop there and was delighted as she was missing a decent cuppa!

I almost exclusively drink loose leaf. Im currently on Tea Pigs Breakfast but have tried Brew Tea, Eteaket and Suki Tea. Honestly Morrisons red box is one of the best (and remarkably similar to Waitrose) at the price point. I prefer a larger leaf as less detritus at the bottom of the cup (and I drink my tea to the last drop) but it's not that much of a deal. I have various infusers but my one and two cup teapots are my favorite.

Tea is best if made properly - boiling water into a warmed pot with plenty room for the leaves to infuse - wait 2 minutes then serve. And if you can be bothered, use water from a filter jug in your kettle, fresh water every boil.

Dazedandc0nfused · 09/11/2021 20:29

Yorkshire.

Gruffalogrinch · 09/11/2021 20:33

Punjana Barry's Tea
Another vote for either of these best teas ever, Ocado stock them. Will check out B&M didn’t know they stocked them. PG tips doesn’t taste of anything weak & insipid.
MrsSkylerWhite · 09/11/2021 20:36

My husband swapped to loose leaf a couple of years ago and won’t drink teabag tea by choice now.

SixQuidGames · 09/11/2021 20:38

Tea Pigs
Brew

Pricey (£7 for 40 though there are often special offers and coupons) but so worth it. I add the caveat that we only have two cups of tea per day each so the cost isn’t quite as bad as it seems.

If you’re drinking tea all day then I’d go for Twinings English Breakfast.
