TRIGGER WARNING!!

Wtf have I just seen on Twitter?! I won't post a link, but you can Google it if you actually want to, although I should say it made me weep with rage!

Some absolutely vile excuse for a human being decided to kick and punch a horse for wandering off. It's shocking.

My blood is boiling! How dare they?! What will happen to them? Please someone tell me they will be at the very least, banned from ever owning an animal of any kind ever again.

What is the matter with people? Seriously need my faith restoring in humanity today.

@WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor if the woman is this brazen in public then God knows what she does in private.
I don't care if she loses her job.

@BlueberrySugar if she was a man I doubt it would have made the papers.
@Capferret it’s not just going to be her job she will be receiving death threats as we speak. The women that put the cat in the bin, who was clearly vulnerable herself, had her life ruined.

SirensofTitan · 09/11/2021 08:00

@CovidCorvid

She won’t have her life ruined. None of her mates will care. She won’t lose her job. I doubt the rspca will prosecute. Worst case for her is she’s booted out the pony club and some of the school parents think poorly of her for a bit but I’m sure she’ll brazen it out. It will soon be yesterday’s news. Sadly.
I don't think she'll lose hero unless the school has some kind of policy that would cover it but I think you're wrong to think that her pupils and their families won't care

I wouldn't be surprised she has to resign as it's impossible for her to do her job.

Of course it would have made the media if it was a man. No one accepts animal cruelty from men, why would you possibly think they do?

Pumpkinsonparade · 09/11/2021 08:00

A woman near me years ago starved her German Shepherd to death.
Apparently she was going through a stressful divorce.
Post Court we saw her clubbing in town..
Imo judges also need to use the powers they have to the greatest extent every time.

MorrisZapp · 09/11/2021 08:00

What would you like to happen to her? The media are involved, she's been identified. Presumably if she's committed a criminal offence she'll be charged but I'm not sure that one instance of kicking a horse will see her thrown in jail as some people seem to assume is proportionate.

I think she needs to be prosecuted. She’s a role model for children and needs to be made an example of. Otherwise it will embolden others to think it’s ok to abuse animals as she suffered no consequences.

It is absolutely a criminal offence to kick and punch an animal under the animal welfare act. How can you not know animal cruelty is illegal? Sure she’s not going to get a custodial sentence but she should be banned from keeping animals.

What? You think people couldn't care less about cruelty if the perpetrator is a man? I think that is taking the persecution complex a bit far.

And she didn’t just kick it once, she slapped it twice, then she punched it in the head twice, then she kicked it, then she dragged it into the trailer. Why minimise it to one kick?
Dropitlikeitssloth · 09/11/2021 08:15

Yes and we have only seen one instance. You can absolutely bet that she’s done it before many times.

Clawdy · 09/11/2021 08:19

It would definitely have made the media if it was a man. One of our neighbours was filmed kicking his dog viciously in the street, it was in lots of newspapers, and he had to move house.

Capferret · 09/11/2021 08:25

@WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor no one should receive death threats but unfortunately as you say this will happen.
I still don't care if she loses her job though, people who abuse animals are generally nasty if not worse. I wouldn't want them around dc.

trumpisagit · 09/11/2021 08:30

I am suprised some horsey people are saying its not normal behaviour. It absolutely was 30 years ago, and I am not sure that much has changed.
I think what is unusual is for it to be happening in public.

Horse racing is the worst in my opinion, but the orthodoxy of equestrianism is about suppressing horses natural instincts.

I used to love horse riding, but I no longer think its something people should do. There are very few horses and ponies who's natural disposition is suitable and the "breaking" process is smatterred with violence, which I witnessed repeatedly as a child/teenager among many horsey people.

I was lent a pony as a teenager who was inline to be shot as he had reared and injured a child.

Bertie was lovely but not suitable for children, luckily my parents knew nothing about horses so were just happy to let me have a free loan.

I think we would all be shocked to see how some horses and ponies are "broken in" and treated when out of sight.

Please look at yourselves.

The hateful language used on this thread. The incitement to bully someone out of a job.

Yes she has done something wrong. Yes the law should follow processes.

I am genuinely shocked by the mob mentality and bullying on this thread. Some posters should be ashamed.

MorrisZapp · 09/11/2021 08:32

Having her banned from keeping animals seems just and proportionate. Having her entire life trashed does not.

Totally agree. She's been identified now, there's no need for a mob.
PollyWobbles · 09/11/2021 08:36

There's really no need to email her school. What for? Do you think they're not aware of what's gone on or do you think that by wading in you'll make a real difference here?

Processes should be followed. This woman needs dealing with properly and robustly. It goes without saying how sickening her act of violence was

But the idiots on here baying for her blood just sound, well, thick.

freckles20 · 09/11/2021 08:37

@Bluntness100

Well of course she will say it’s ok to be violent to animals. She’s permitted a defence. Doesn’t mean she wins a prosecution because of it.
They just won't see this as worthy of investigation- or if they do it will be a rare occurrence due to media pressure.

People who leave their animals to starve, beat them senseless or kill them deliberately barely get a significant punishment- this won't even register.

Take a look at the woman who tied a huge rock to her German shepherd and left it to drown because she it was old and needy.

She couldn't deny the charges and was prosecuted and received an £80 fine. The dog would have drowned for certain if a passer by hadn't saved it.
