I don’t think I’ve really processed it yet. DH slipped down the stairs carrying DS and I saw him land on his head.

DS is only 4 months old. He’s had a scan on his head and has two fractures and lots of swelling. They don’t think he has brain damage. We’re staying in the children’s hospital overnight for observation. They have to wake him up every hour. I’m so scared, I don’t think I’ve left fight or flight mode yet.

If this happened to any of you how was the recovery?

We’re going home! Grin Grin

They weren’t worried about the heart rate.

He’s a happy chappy, his heads a bit lumpy but it’ll go down. We have a follow up in 2 weeks Smile

Fantastic brilliant news!!!

I left my baby in his high chair on his own and not strapped in. He tried to climb out because he was alone. He fell and had the most awful lump on his forehead. I still feel terrible about it. Totally my fault for leaving him unattended- it was only a minute but I should never have done it. I ran to the hospital with him in my arms but luckily he wasn’t badly injured. The doctor told me he was the third baby in with a head injury from a fall that evening. He told me the other two came in ambulances but that luckily no one had an injury requiring hospitalisation.
You’ll never forget this but accidents happen. So glad you’re all ok.

What wonderful news! I hope you’re all enjoying a lovely big cuddle right now.

And I hope your DH has a nice big cleansing sob. Poor fella - terrible time for you all, but this’ll give him the shivers for a long time to come.

I remember when I was on the bed with my DS who was a month old or so, I slightly adjusted the sheet but in my sleep deprived state didn't realise he was on the edge of the bed (thick mattress, poofy blanket). He fell with a thud right on his back on the carpet and his head and let out a major scream, it was awful.
He also fell off the sofa once when I was sleepy with him (although the fall wasn't as bad). Blush
Point is these things happen and you learn from them. Hope your dh does not blame himself especially if in a hurry, most people have been there at some point just your poor dh was very unlucky this time.
Fortunately your little one is ok, hope he heals up quickly and you can all relax. Brew

So glad he's going home!! Babies are incredibly resilient. I really hope your DH is OK too. You'll both have a lot to process Flowers Cake

My mum tripped and fell on me as a baby, I suggested it was the reason I failed my French A Level 🤣

LightsS0bright · 08/11/2021 16:10

We’re back home and having a lovely contact nap on the sofa.

Thankyou so much everyone for your support. This thread brought me some comfort.

Hi How is your son now?

Same think happened to my son at almost same time?

We had a 6 weeks check up and got all clear but I’m still suffering emotionally. Hope your ds and all are good.
