Mine is just the M and S range. It looks good and I'm not naturally creative.

OP posts:

Starter: (Green) pea and leek and potato soup with crackers of ghost and bats. I made the crackers by cutting them out of wraps and baking them for 10 minutes.

Main: 3 bean vegan chilli served in a bowl put inside a small hallowed out pumpkin. Plus some guacamole on the side.

Dessert: jelly with little chocolate spiders set in it.
I love cooking so it's probably a bit OTT

Starsnores · 31/10/2021 15:34

I've got a couple of the m&s bits, wiggly worms, boo bao buns and cheese cauldron. Also doing jacket potatoes, sausage/cheese and onion rolls, falafel, quorn scotch eggs, crisps, crudités and dips.

I wondered the same. I'm just doing a usual Sunday lunch 😂
PennyWus · 31/10/2021 16:05

We're having whole roast orange peppers cut with pumpkin faces and filled with (vegetarian) spaghetti brains, various weird coloured fruit smoothies, mummified sausage rolls, and jellies with jelly worms in for pudding with peeled grape "eyeballs" on the side.

Not really a buffet but since the kids will be up and down to answer the door to the trick or treaters, it may as well be. It's already started here with the little ones! Not even dark yet.

Cupoftea53 · 31/10/2021 16:09

I didn’t realise this was a ‘thing’ and I have 3 primary aged kids! Have seen halloween cookies etc but not a whole meal

immersivereader · 31/10/2021 16:15

Halloween buffet? We're having general tao chicken

Ive put the Halloween tablecloth on and we have spider napkins

Notaroadrunner · 31/10/2021 16:15

Halloween buffet isn't a thing. You're just having your dinner. I'm having a bowl of cereal. Yum.

Bluntness100 · 31/10/2021 16:15

I’ve never heard of a Halloween buffet either,..

Burnt0utMum · 31/10/2021 16:17

I've just tried to give the kids an early dinner knowing they'll soon be stuffing themselves full of sweets 😂

DementedPanda · 31/10/2021 16:19

Roast beef here. Just a usual Sunday lunch. We usually just head to the chippy after trick or treating but dc are old enough to go by themselves now.

I never realised a Halloween meal/buffet was a thing!

I hope this isn't a thing now! We're having a massive pan of cawl because it's windy and miserable out; perfect weather for cawl...

I used to make 'cheese on ghost' for the DC when they were little (cheese on toast cut with a ghost biscuit cutter) , but that's the only halloween food I ever remember doing.

Squirrelblanket · 31/10/2021 16:25

We're having steak and chips. Grin

ParkheadParadise · 31/10/2021 16:32

BlitheringBlathers · 31/10/2021 16:33

I think some people are trying to make Halloween like a second Christmas or something 😅 I've seen massively decorated houses and this year for the first time I've heard of people buying Halloween gifts for their kids...now Halloween meals?
I cant afford a second Christmas so will not be bothering with any of it.

Ive not been particularly hungry so am just planning to make myself a s'more under the grill for my dinner today 🤣

LynetteScavo · 31/10/2021 16:37

Just pumpkin soup for lunch here.

And a roast dinner this evening.

M&S did have some cool looking Halloween food, but it must be £££ to have guests and feed them a whole buffet of it.

Ha! This did make me laugh.

Halloween is banned in our house. I'm fed up of our children having nightmares, getting scared of the increasingly gory costumes in the shops and being convinced there's a piggin' ghost in the hallway.

Why would anyone be happy to scare their child shitless and call it fun?

I know I'm the odd one out, but I can't wait for it to be over.

MeatyRvita · 31/10/2021 16:45

We have ds aged 4, we’ve done 2x of the Aldi £1 cheapie cheese and tomato pizzas and a pack of frozen cocktail sausages.
He’s happy as Larry and prefers it to if I spent more money on a lovely spread from m&s.
Plus then me and DH can have a proper dinner in peace later when he’s gone to bed- steak, chips, mushrooms, blue cheese sauce and some wine 👍

Pumpkinsonparade · 31/10/2021 16:48

Pumpkin soup.
Pumpkin scones.
Mummy sausages.
Mummy gingerbread persons.
Jacket potatoes.
Mummy pizzas.
Pumpkin shaped cookies.

ChocolateGingers · 31/10/2021 16:49

Thank God it's not just me.

I could just about understand kids having a few bits like special biscuits and some supermarkets have recipes out for themed cakes- but adults? Nah, surely not.

We're having Duchy Organic rack of lamb, bought for 50% off.

Not a pumpkin in sight (hate the stuff.)

Yourstupidityexhaustsme · 31/10/2021 16:52

We don’t trick or treat so we have a Halloween party every year and watch ‘scary’ films.

We’ve got some M&S bits - chicken bats, spooky bao buns and popping candy jelly brains.
Ham sandwiches, cheese sandwiches and jam sandwiches that we’ve cut with Halloween cutters.
Selection of bat shaped crisps from aldi and some thai chilli sensation.
Oven nibbly bits - mozzarella sticks, cauliflower bites, a pumpkin shaped pizza, cocktail sausages and sausage rolls.
Dips and crudites
Pasta salad
Lemonade dyed with green colouring to make it scary.
Sweets, Halloween cupcakes we made yesterday and toffee popcorn for pudding.

Everyone dresses up and we have giant gold chocolate coins for participation trophies.

ChocolateGingers · 31/10/2021 16:52

I hate Halloween with a vengeance. As a kid, we had a hollowed out swede (pumpkins were few and far between where I lived) which we walked round the road with.

Now, I hate the rather horrible concept of 'blackmailing neighbours' , by ringing their doorbells, to hand over sweets or they will be victims of some nasty prank (which at times can go horribly wrong with homes and cars being damaged.)

Sorry I am such a misery face.

Bananasandevap · 31/10/2021 16:53

We’ve just had home made tomato soup and tiger bread! Was topped with home roasted pumpkin seeds though so I suppose it’s a bit Halloweeny?!
Dessert is lemon cheesecake…. Not a spooky version.

ChocolateGingers · 31/10/2021 16:54

@FTstepmum I am with you all the way.

The thought of more plastic going into landfill or oceans is not one bit of fun.

It's all become a means for shops to make money by selling plastic masks, decorations, costumes, you name it, and people destroy the planet.
