Can you recommend me a really good uplifting film?

Any age, preferably Romance or comedy or thriller but not depressing. Even it's a classic, because I'm sure there's gaps where I haven't seen certain things. Any suggestions gratefully received Flowers

I loved 'About Time'.

Has Domhnall Gleeson and Rachel McAdams in the main roles, plus a really good supporting cast ( Bill Nighy, Lindsay Duncan, Vanessa Kirkby, Tom Hollander, Lydia Wilson etc.). Romantic comedy with an unexpected uplifting message.

Enchanted April
Cinema Paradiso (in Italian, but subtitles available)

We watched Free Guy the other week. Funny and uplifting.

@DampSquidGames I think maybe it's more me! It's a great film and totally agree about the end being uplifting but I think I get too emotionally involved in films like this (no spoilers! But when the bit when he's having to find somewhere for him and his son to sleep....cried my heart out!)

Anyhoo, I'd recommend 'The Dig' Grin

Ooo, and this! I thought it was fab, like a virtual 'Truman Show' !

Kinky Boots...just loved it 🥰

Eddielzzard · 30/10/2021 18:12

Untouchable - not to be confused with the untouchables. This is a French film about a disabled man and his carer. True story incredibly heartwarming.

The peanut butter falcon - another wonderful film

An easy watch? (I thought it got far more praise than it deserved if I'm honest 🤷‍♀️)
Eddielzzard · 30/10/2021 18:16

I got it wrong!! It's the The Intouchables

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/10/2021 18:19

Ooh, had a proper crush on Chewitel Ejiofor when I saw Kinky Boots.

DampSquidGames · 30/10/2021 18:45

I recently saw 12 Mighty Orphans about an American football team and that was very heartwarming.
Another good film is Field of dreams.
suckingonchillidogs I enjoyed The Way Back too.

HopelessSinking · 30/10/2021 18:49

Blues Brothers!

EvelynBeatrice · 30/10/2021 18:54

All classics I’m afraid. Christmas film - the Bishop’s Wife.

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (book it’s based on also fab)
Comedies : National Lampoon’s Animal House ( sorry! Not perhaps morally uplifting but makes me laugh) , What’s Up Doc ? ( old Barbara Streisand comedy)
