This cake - yes or no?

I fancy one of these frilly vintagey cakes for my 30th birthday party but not sure if they're stylish granny-chic or just a bit granny? What do you think?

I like that. Colours aren't to my taste necessarily but it's very pretty

That's the question... it looks fine (in the way it's meant to) but as though it would be incredibly sickly and just messy and not very nice to eat.

I love it! Actually I love it so much I'm going to make it for my own birthday next week. I'll do it as a three layer dark chocolate and black cherry sponge with demerara buttercream. It needn't be at all sickly.

I love it, I have seen a few videos on TikTok of cakes like this and been wishing I had an occasion to have one made for!

It's your birthday! The one day a year that you get exactly your own way! (Regarding things you can choose. Not sure about the weather.) Pick any cake you like and don't worry about what other people think.

Are you asking for american buttercream? That's just bog standard buttercream BTW, very sweet, but something like a swiss meringue would be much lighter and less sweet. It should still pipe nicely like that too!

I am a cake fanatic but that one just looks sickly to me I'm afraid. Its over decorated.

Yea I agree with this I would go for Swiss meringue over buttercream, a lot of cake makers would probably suggest they used that anyway
