Make me envious with your half-term plans!

First day of half-term here and two dc under 10. What are your plans? Eldest is autistic and only wants screentime (doesn't get it unlimited) and days out are challenging. Getting outside is always good. Urgh, and I have to feed the blighters all day!

Also 2 age 9 & 5. Unfortunately there at are both isolating until the end of Wednesday but both are feeling fine now so they are climbing the walls. So for the next few days we are planning Halloween arts & crafts, baking, maybe some gardening, trying not to loose my mind…then on Thursday we are going to a trampoline park and on Friday a farm/zoo/adventure play place with my mum. The weekend is birthday party/Halloween party/ trick or treating.

I am in Spain.
It’s lovely and warm

Ohhelppp · 25/10/2021 08:24

Also in Spain. Not so warm and quite rainy, but at an all inclusive hotel so being fed and watered all day. That’s the best bit, for me!

Ds1 (6) currently sitting with a sick bowl

It’s going to be a long week

inappropriateraspberry · 25/10/2021 08:27

2 aged 6 & 3. Both coming down with coughs and colds - was a long night!
We were going to go on a Halloween Trail in some woods today, but think we'll skip as they aren't very well. Shame really as that's all we've had planned for the week!

inappropriateraspberry · 25/10/2021 08:36

But all being well, we have a Halloween party on Sunday with a few of my daughter's friends before they go out trick or treating.

MonkeyPuddle · 25/10/2021 08:39

I am procrastinating on MN before packing the car to go to centre parcs

dootball · 25/10/2021 08:43

We've been camping! (Already 1 week of holiday) - 2 boys 9 / 11. For some reason DP didn't want to come with us. Went to a theme park + water Park. Currently staying at grand parents before heading home for the second week. Got football planned in London next week and a couple of play dates + Halloween parties too.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 25/10/2021 08:44

Have few nice things planned buy have woken up shivering and aching all over. Sore throat 😫

Justonedayatatime11 · 25/10/2021 08:46

Had a lovely week planned but DD7 went down with germs Friday night which she's now passed to me, but she still has a horrible hacking cough. Was so looking forward to going out and doing stuff, now it looks like we'll be stuck at home Sad

Yesthatscorrect · 25/10/2021 08:47

Off to Scotland for a break next to a Loch with a hot tub in a couple of hours. Stopping in Edinburgh today for a nice lunch and look around before checking in. I find keeping the kids amused easier and less effort on holiday than at home as I get a break from housework etc.

Hope you have a nice week.

BillyAndTheSillies · 25/10/2021 08:49

Just arrived in Cyprus, DS2 was a lockdown baby and will be meeting DH's family for the first time. DS1 excited to be reunited with cousins he's not seen for two years.

Yogawankonobi · 25/10/2021 08:51

Working all week woo

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 08:57

Those going away, do you take Halloween stuff with you? Costumes etc? Do you trick or treat away?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/10/2021 08:58

On our way to meet a friend for breakfast. This afternoon we are making Halloween cupcakes and decorating the house. I'm working Tuesday til Friday but I finish early on Friday so we will go out for some dinner. Saturday we are off to a local farm to go pumpkin picking and then a friend's Halloween party. Sunday we'll go to a cafe for coffee and cake, watch movies and go trick or treating.

toomanypillows · 25/10/2021 08:59

Had a lovely break at the seaside for 4 days last week (we have a 2 week half term)
Spent the weekend sorting out all the cleaning, shopping etc. so everywhere is nice and clean and tidy.
Today we have a couple of appointments (hair /eye tests) then the rest of the week is like this:
**1 day of nothing planned so will probably do pumpkins/baking/TV binging
**Day out with some friends on a walk with "cake by the lake" (that's the name of the cafe)
** Day out planned at a local corn maze, which is spookily themed.
**taking granny out for a day shopping
**DS's friend coming over for a day so we'll go swimming and then afternoon at a castle which has loads of activities.
**Going to the theatre to watch an afternoon performance of Macbeth and then probably go out for dinner.

I love half term. 💕

Dinotruxagain · 25/10/2021 09:03

Off to Northumberland for a caravan holiday this morning with DS4 and DSD 17, she was adament she wanted to come, costume and all!
Should be a fun week and the weather seems to be holding up.
Back home Friday, Saturday I have peace and quiet while they all go to football, Sunday, friends over for food and trick or treating.

Much better than last years misery!

DampSquidGames · 25/10/2021 09:05

My DC are grown up, my DH and I had a really lovely three nights break at a spa hotel in Devon and were very lucky with the weather.

Misty9 · 25/10/2021 09:19

The Scottish Loch and hot tub sounds amazing - enjoy! And sorry to all those with poorly dc 🤒 both mine are a bit snotty and coughing but not too bad. Most of our friends have gone away for the week so no parties :(
I might enforce a walk as it's beautiful here today. I have at least got up now!

I’ll make you envious, OP - currently in Wales Beautiful area, cottage looked great from the outside. However, 3 days in and… dodgy fridge, radiators don’t work, only one toilet works properly as we found very much to our cost yesterday 🤢 (marketed as having two bathrooms) and this morning I’ve opened a window in our bedroom only to discover a bloody fly infestation, most of which are now swarming round the room 🤢Sometimes the UK tourist industry gets it brilliantly right, sometimes not.

Oh no! 😱 What will you do?
OP posts:
AvonCallingBarksdale · 25/10/2021 09:41

Ha, well the owners sent a handyman round to unblock the toilet yesterday, so we just won’t use that - bit grim as now only have one toilet in a bathroom with no window! Other than that, we’ve let them know about the heating and the fridge so will be expecting an agreement to be reached on departure Smile. It wasn’t cheap by any stretch. Still, it’s a different set of four walls and the scenery is beautiful #everoptimistic Grin

Doughnuts68 · 25/10/2021 10:25

Hope it works out avon

We’re on our way back from Butlin’s (there were lots of children in Halloween costumes).

DS is going to MIL’s on Wednesday.

Friday I’m taking him to HMS Belfast and the Imperial War Museum.

Saturday is a Halloween party in the local community centre.

I only discovered on Friday that DS has an inset day next Monday. Luckily I don’t work on Mondays but I haven’t a clue what to do with him that day.

What’s the best Butlins?
