Gift for daughter in law. I can't tell if this is something a young woman would like. Any opinions?

I like it, but I'm 43 so not your exact target

Naaaaah · 24/10/2021 17:16

It's beautiful and a fabulous gift. If it's her kind of style, go for it!

Yes, I can't tell if I like it age 58 so not for someone age 30

Well it depends entirely on her personality, fashion sense and likes.
I'm 30 and I would never wear it - especially for over £40! However friends of mine would probably like it.
Sorry thats not very helpful but I don't think anyone on here can really help. Why not ask your son if it is to her tastes?

HerRoyalWitchyness · 24/10/2021 17:17

I'm 30 and I like it. I suppose it depends if that's her style or not

Do you think it's hideous and or frumpy? Be honest.

I like it (I'm 41 though so not the same age range, as much as I would like to think I am) but if you're not sure you would be better going for a voucher so she can choose something herself.

ffiffi123 · 24/10/2021 17:22

I'm 36 and I wouldn't wear it, depends on style though!

I personally wouldn't buy clothes for anyone except my DH & toddler, it's too much of a personal thing and you're always likely to get it wrong Confused

So nice to have such a lovely & thoughtful Mother in law Thanks

Sleepyquest · 24/10/2021 17:24

I'm 30 and I don't like it because it's not my style. Is she that kind of person?

I think she would like it. Just wanted to give something nice to open as she's been working so hard.

GiltEdges · 24/10/2021 17:30

I'm 33 and whilst it isn't my style, I don't think it's hideous or frumpy at all either. I'm sure your DIL will be very appreciative of the thought.

TeacherMa · 24/10/2021 17:31

It's quite an 'out there' pattern. is it similar to things she normally wear? If she usually dresses quite plainly, I wouldn't think this would be something she'd appreciate.

Only you will know if it's something she's likely to wear based on what she usually wears.

Fallagain · 24/10/2021 17:32

Clothes are very personal. Im 37 and i wouldnt wear that. It looks more like summer clothes.

whosaidtha · 24/10/2021 17:33

I'm 32 and I like it. But I can think of 1000 things I'd rather have if your budget is £60. That's a pretty bug budget. Especially if you're not 100% sure she'll love it.
Personally I wouldn't spend more than £20 on it.

afinethingindeed · 24/10/2021 17:35

I'm 33 and I'd wear this - I love it! I wouldn't pay that much for it myself but would gratefully accept as a gift. Lovely idea!

Namechangeforone · 24/10/2021 17:36

It's not very seasonal. I'd get a cardigan or jumper you'll know she loves

Isababybel · 24/10/2021 17:43

Im 31 and hate it, sorry. If she wears similar clothes though to that sort of style then go for it.

NeverTheHootenanny · 24/10/2021 17:44

I’m in my 30s. I think it’s beautiful but don’t think it’s my style. I think you would need to be quite boho (and slim!) to pull it off.

CoastalWave · 24/10/2021 17:46

It's beautiful - on a very slim, very tall blonde model type person!

Personally, I would buy some toiletries she likes - Clinique, Estee Lauder etc, give her some stuff to pamper herself.

It is amazing but I know I would end up shoving it in my wardrobe and just looking at it!

pumpkinpal · 24/10/2021 17:48

They like to travel so thought if they started to do South Asia again then it's something to pop in the suitcase

OP posts:
Hodgehog · 24/10/2021 17:50

If she normally shops there then yes - otherwise it’s a specific style and may not bet her thing.

I agree.

Can you get her a plain kimono in a colour she likes? Preferably silk.

Or a stylish cashmere sweater.
