For me...

Marmite
Carrot cake
Black pudding
Lucozade

I've got to fifty and all these have so far passed me by. The likelihood is that won't change.

Im a really varied eater and love trying new things. I'm not sure I can't think of anything. I've never had red bull, I hate the concept (and now don't drink any caffeine, but used to previously) so maybe that counts.
Black pudding is delicious. I adore shellfish. Rabbit is one of my favourite meats... Oh I've never eaten heart, I don't think. But I've eaten haggis which probably has heart in it (all kinds of offal) so can't say for certain.

Quite a lot of things really, but people are always surprised about sweetcorn. It makes me feel sick to see it or smell it (my husband and kids eat it though).

I only realised recently that cornflakes are sweetcorn, and I love them but it doesn’t make me want to try sweetcorn

BadPlaceJanet · 19/10/2021 00:20

Loads, because I'm funny about food. I like some polarising food like olives, sardines, blue cheese, but have never eaten some very ordinary things like strawberries, yogurt or bananas. I never tried eggs or pizza till my 20s (love them now).

I'll shock the dessert-lovers out there and say I've never tried cheesecake and have no desire to Grin

It's a texture / temperature thing, I think. Anything cold and sloppy doesn't appeal.

@Bluntness100

Dairy is more than milk.
Fascinated by this. It is always milk-based, so milk production stats must be getting you a massive part of the way there.

Baked beans. They look awful.

workwoes123 · 19/10/2021 06:55

Apérol spritz - they seem to be the aperitif of the moment here but I don’t eat out much, and I keep forgetting to try it when I do!

I’ve eaten pretty much all the “ordinary” things lusted here though. Not fussy, have lived in various countries so pretty adaptable with food. DH even more so - he likes offal, andouillette etc 🤢.

Smother them with cheese, you'll never know they're there...🙈

This is how I managed to try beans. I didn't eat them until I was about 14. I went to my friends and saw she stirred grated cheese into the pan of beans and it made them look much more appetising. It was another ten years before I could have them on the toast rather than next to it though!

Pheebs2021 · 19/10/2021 07:48

Anything ofal I just couldn't especially since I did biology at school!
Some more unusual fruits that I just wouldn't know what to do with.

GoFindCoffeeAndSnacks · 19/10/2021 08:57

Looking at @HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule list, there isn't anything on there I haven't had except the findus and fray bentos, but that's because I am not British. My teens have also had most of it, especially all of the first list is general food, except anything alcoholic or super expensive like frois grais. In fact counting up there are only about 6 things they haven't, from both lists.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/10/2021 09:01

I’m not British either which is why there are quite a few things I haven’t had, particularly things that are no longer really eaten much here as far as I know.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/10/2021 09:11

I won’t have foie gras for ethical reasons. Other French classics like snails and frog’s legs, I just haven’t had a chance to try yet. I’m quite sure I won’t like corn dogs but it’s morbid fascination - I definitely want to know for sure whether I will or won’t like them. Cockles/winkles/any other shellfish or seafood that I haven’t tasted, I always try something new if I’m given the chance however as I said previously I do have some strict limits.

Bathshebahardy · 19/10/2021 10:35

I'm happy to try new foods and have had most things listed here. I never fancied eel but was persuaded to try it and it was awful, leaving a nasty aftertaste for hours. Weirdly, the other thing that did this was fenugreek in a curry.
Since then I have decided that I won't try things I expect not to like. This includes tripe. snails and frogs legs.
Common things I have not eaten include most flavours/brands of crisps and many fizzy drinks as I don't like either.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/10/2021 10:39

I must say eel is something I’m not ever going to eat unless I’m literally starving. On the other hand I love fenugreek! Funny, isn’t it, how individual these things are. I did say I’m planning to try snails but thinking about it some more I’m not sure I’d actually have the stomach to try it if I were actually faced with a bowlful of the things...especially if I had to wrest them out of their shells myself!

Aethelthryth · 19/10/2021 10:49

kefir
porridge
quorn

Tal45 · 19/10/2021 10:50

Pickled onions. I'm quite fascinated by them and can't really imagine how they taste, they were always in chip shops when I was young. Onions don't agree with me any more though so I'll probably never know.

Elli474 · 19/10/2021 11:27

Olives

springiscoming12 · 19/10/2021 11:58

Neither of the links you shared support your statement Simonjt and that map a rally disproves what you said. Without a doubt the biggest dairy consumption comes from western countries, but to say that the majority of the world does not consume it is utter bollocks.

PumpkinsandTea · 19/10/2021 12:33

Those pretending they've never tried McDonalds!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

RustyBear · 19/10/2021 12:35

Gin - really never been tempted

Bluesheep8 · 19/10/2021 13:13

Why do we have to have people heaving and gagging all over the place on these threads? If you don't fancy it you don't fancy it, no need for all the dramatics!

Couldn't have put it better myself! Grin

It doesn't count when you're on your own, sat in your car with the visor down.
Guacamole001 · 19/10/2021 16:39

I must be very adventurous as have eaten all the above except eels. Not keen on mushy peas though.

Maireas · 19/10/2021 16:52

I've eaten everything (some things only once, though Confused) apart from foie gras!
Thing is, if you like travelling, you have to eat what's available, or starve.

BearSoFair · 19/10/2021 17:21

Tofu
Oysters
Crab or lobster - not sure how ordinary lobster is though!
Broad beans
Gin
