For me...

Marmite
Carrot cake
Black pudding
Lucozade

I've got to fifty and all these have so far passed me by. The likelihood is that won't change.

I’ve never had coffee. Iced, mocha, regular, or any of the other types. DH doesn’t drink it either so as we don’t have it in the house I’ve never been tempted as a curiosity - wouldn’t buy a whole jar for one cup.

Loads of other things I’ve never had because I have a limited diet for health reasons but coffee is the one that people seem to short circuit over.

Mrsbrownsbuoys · 18/10/2021 19:16

I've never had a kebab, the hygiene issues of some places puts me off. If I found somewhere that looked like they cared about hygiene and food quality I would try one though.

I've not had white pudding or haggis, love black pudding with a fry up though.

I've never tried oysters, hate the thought of swallowing something that slimy!

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 18/10/2021 19:17

Oh no, you do it a great disservice - roasted butternut squash is delicious, beautifully sweet with great depth of flavour. My favourite way to cook it is with Ottololengi’s Middle Eastern spices with lime and a yoghurt tahini sauce on the side. Well worth it. But also so good just roasted and blitzed down into a soup. Yum!

I agree these threads are always interesting.

I’m struggling to think of anything which British people would consider to be ‘ordinary food’ that I’ve never tried, but I have never eaten snails, which are ordinary food in France.

Sparklfairy · 18/10/2021 19:20

Sushi. In fact a lot of fish. We didn't eat any growing up but I like cod, salmon, trout, haven't tried anything else.

I've had black pudding and at first it tastes like sausages, then I suddenly become aware I'm basically chewing a scab Envy

alligatorpeardrop · 18/10/2021 19:20

Burritos

alligatorpeardrop · 18/10/2021 19:21

Nor black pudding or white pudding, liver or kidneys. The thought makes me shudder.

Simonjt · 18/10/2021 19:29

Meat
Fish
Dairy

I’ve never had kfc, I’m not sure they actually serve anything vegetarian.

Apart from that I’ve tried most fruit/veg/spices/nuts etc the only fruit I don’t like is cashew apple.

MunsteadWood · 18/10/2021 19:31

Nando's

SixTwirlingTutus · 18/10/2021 19:33

Marmite here also! So many of us.

also spam and haggis in any form.

KingdomScrolls · 18/10/2021 19:38

This is probably why I gain weight, I see something I've not tried and even if it looks grim (pickled egg) I feel compelled to try it, I just want to know... There are things I've tried once or twice and don't like, but I don't think there's anything that's legitimately food for humans, I wouldn't try once.

DelphiniumBlue · 18/10/2021 19:40

@Coriandersucks

Nuts Cheese Tomatoes (raw) Seafood

There’s more but that’s probably bad enough. I’m a product of a mother who gave in to my demands as a child.

You're blaming your Mum? Are you an adult now? And coriander is lovely with tomatoes!
KingdomScrolls · 18/10/2021 19:42

I don't think I've had fig rolls or figs. I find it a bit weird that figs have the absorbed bodies of wasps in them

Is this true??

romdowa · 18/10/2021 19:45

I've never had a poached egg!

Kanaloa · 18/10/2021 19:46

@Simonjt

KFC do a vegan burger now - although the fries aren’t vegan. Not every place does it though, some stores do some don’t.

Kanaloa · 18/10/2021 19:47

I’ll just add I’ve also never had a tomato. I like tomato sauces but I hate how the outside is all shiny then it’s wet/juicy inside. I hate the idea of biting into it and the tomato juice going everywhere.

Laska2Meryls · 18/10/2021 19:49

Butternut squash and sweet potato are the absolute devils food . tried it , never again , Bleaugh!

I have never had a KFC, any delivered pizza or Nandos .. I have only once been to a Mc Donalds (in the US because we were with US friends and I thought that it was dinner, - it wasnt just a 'snack' on the way home , never again ..)

I have never eaten a chicken nugget.

Laska2Meryls · 18/10/2021 19:50

And I have never had anything from Greggs

Magicmonster · 18/10/2021 20:24

Tea and coffee

TheRealMrsJelly · 18/10/2021 20:34

I've never had; Nandos nor KFC
Avocado
Artichoke
Butternut squash, Pumpkin or Sweet potato

cheapskatemum · 18/10/2021 20:35

Biscoff biscuits & spread

Malin52 · 18/10/2021 20:37

Allergies aside I'm boggled at how someone can get to adulthood having never eaten cheese of any description!

The majority of the world don’t consume dairy.
PoetryLaser · 18/10/2021 20:41

@HarebrightCedarmoon

Why don't you just try them? You might surprise yourself, but the worst that can happen is that it confirms what you thought. I don't understand how people can lack so much curiosity about the world, particularly about foods which are well-liked by many!
This! I'm an almost lifelong vegetarian so there are a lot of things i haven't eaten because of that. But I'd gladly try anything that was.

I'm mind boggled by people not having even tried fairly basic fruit and veg like squash and avocado which you can buy in any supermarket.

And Marmite - why would you not try it so you can decide which team you're in (Love it / Hate it)?

TacoTues · 18/10/2021 20:44

Black pudding
Kebab meat
Any sort of offal
Blue cheese or really stinky cheeses. The smell is bad enough.
