For me...

Marmite
Carrot cake
Black pudding
Lucozade

I've got to fifty and all these have so far passed me by. The likelihood is that won't change.

There are lots of versions of similar things that I haven't tried because I don't like a key ingredient - so for example I have never tried pickled onions, picked eggs, pickled gherkins, or kimchi.

I have also never tried whisky. I don't drink alcohol now at all but even when I did I couldn't stand the smell of whisky. There are no doubt lots of drinks I have never tried - both alcoholic (eg lots of liqueurs) and not (eg Irn Bru and Red Bull).

I eat meat but have never (knowingly) eaten horse. I have also never tried tripe, brains or pigs trotters (though I like some forms of offal). I have also never tried foie gras (but assume I would like it if I did).

I eat most fish and seafood, but have never tried jellied eels (or any other sort of eel) or cockles/winkles or rollmop herrings or kippers.

When it comes to fruit and vegetables, I don't think I have ever tried artichokes (either globe or Jerusalem) or jackfruit, but I can't think of anything else offhand. I haven't been actively avoiding these. Just haven't tried them.

No doubt there are lots of things not easily found in the UK, but I presume we're not counting those!

I've never had a milkshake, when I was a kid the main drink option for school dinners in primary school was strawberry or chocolate nesquik, I thought it smelt awful so never had it. I drink gallons of milk but never understood the appeal of making it flavoured or frothy.

Maireas · 19/10/2021 17:26

I used to love Nesquik when I was a child!
Strawberry milk, mmmm...

Chemenger · 19/10/2021 18:38

@BearSoFair

Tofu Oysters Crab or lobster - not sure how ordinary lobster is though! Broad beans Gin
It depends where you are - McDonalds sell lobster rolled in New England.
Chemenger · 19/10/2021 18:39

Rolls not rolled. Why would my phone “correct” that?

VitalsStable · 19/10/2021 18:47

White pudding
Oysters or any other sea things from shells (other than scallops which are amazing)
Find us crispy pancakes
Fray bentos pies
Bread sauce
Kefir

VitalsStable · 19/10/2021 18:48

Ooohh or tripe or heart
Snails or frogs legs

maddy68 · 19/10/2021 18:50

There isn't anything listed I haven't tried. Don't LIKE liver but apart from the that I will eat anything TBF I would eat liber Im just not very keen

EdgeOfTheSky · 19/10/2021 19:16

Kafir. Listened to them making it in The Archers for years, but never tasted it.
Kimchi. It really is ‘ordinary’ in some trendy areas, but not tried it yet.

WildRosie · 19/10/2021 20:17

Why is carrot used to make cakes anyway ? Is it to add flavour or as a substitute ingredient ?

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 19/10/2021 21:06

I expect it will have started as a substitute when sugar was hard to get, maybe during wartime? But it’s also for flavour..It’s really lovely. That reminds me I must make a carrot cake soon! Have Bramley apples to use first, though.

Capaz · 19/10/2021 21:24

Banana just the smell makes me want to gag.
Meat, fish, tea and coffee.

EileenGC · 19/10/2021 21:36

Thing is, if you like travelling, you have to eat what's available, or starve.

Not true, I'm vegetarian, tee-total and often travel with a gluten-free and vegan colleague.

We've managed to survive everywhere we've been including parts of Asia famous for not catering well to vegetarians. You might eat similar meals every day but you don't starve.

Sure, I haven't yet tried my luck in a rural village in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, but I doubt that's where a lot of people take trips to.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 19/10/2021 21:55

I have just realised that I have never had a Monster or a Red Bull drink.

I've never had a pickled egg, but I've eaten egg in other forms (and dislike it, hence why not expanding the range of serving options).

Maireas · 19/10/2021 22:44

Well, that was my experience, @EileenGC.
I wouldn't have had much luck as a vegan travelling through the old Soviet Union! Not much choice in Kyrgyzstan or Burma in my experience, either. I suppose now it's all opened out more and you can get more choice.
Back in the 80s, not so much!

Maireas · 19/10/2021 22:47

My point is - I've tried all sorts of stuff because I had to. In recent years, the choices in food are greater and you can definitely be more picky, even travelling.

AnnieAreYouOkHun · 19/10/2021 22:56

Egg
Kebab
Salad cream
Marmite

23minutesfromTulseHill · 20/10/2021 00:41

Crabsticks
Cockles
Winkles
Pickled egg
Eggnog Envy

FearlessSwiftie · 20/10/2021 05:38

Carrot cake and pumpkin spice latte.

CaptaNoctem · 20/10/2021 20:54

@PumpkinsandTea

Those pretending they've never tried McDonalds!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
Truely

My parents never let us have them and by the time I was old enough to please myself I was vegetarian.

I believe they now have a veggie menu but I've never been tempted to go in. Just the smell as you pass the door puts me off.

WildRosie · 23/10/2021 20:07

Coconut mushrooms and sweet peanuts. No way.

OP posts:
CurlyMango · 23/10/2021 20:36

Baked beans.
