For me...

Marmite
Carrot cake
Black pudding
Lucozade

I've got to fifty and all these have so far passed me by. The likelihood is that won't change.

I can honestly say I've EATEN all of the above list 😀😀

But try to get me to eat custard or rice pudding with skin on then we'll have a fight 😂

MyMabel · 18/10/2021 20:52

@KingdomScrolls my god, a pickled egg in a packet of crisps is the best. Tastes even better at the pub, almost better than pork scratchings.

"I'm mind boggled by people not having even tried fairly basic fruit and veg like squash and avocado which you can buy in any supermarket."

I've only seen squash in the last ten years or so. Avocado is still very exotic to my parents.

We used to fight for the skin! My nan used to sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon....😋

@notacooldad

I disagree that they're ordinary for the average person in the UK. Plenty of people must be buying them if I can get them in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi! They are hardly a specialist food item.
You must be going to the big versions of those supermarkets. You can't be serious about oysters being ordinary.
Gwenhwyfar · 18/10/2021 21:00

@Daisyhoney

I'm amazed at how many people have never eaten KFC and McDonald's tbh - I don't know anyone who hasn't eaten these.
Never eaten KFC because I was vegetarian for many years. I've been McDonalds many, many times and I think there are loads more of them than KFC.
Simonjt · 18/10/2021 21:00

@Gwenhwyfar Iceland sell oysters

Bluntness100 · 18/10/2021 21:01

@Malin52

Allergies aside I'm boggled at how someone can get to adulthood having never eaten cheese of any description!
Or a tomato or a banana or a pear.
Flufferty · 18/10/2021 21:01

I've never had turkey

SugarMouseTown · 18/10/2021 21:03

I've never had a cheeseboard because I don't like cheese enough to eat it like that and I don't like very strong cheeses or blue cheese.

I'm amazed, but that still doesn't make it an ordinary food.
I found out recently that they're eaten alive. Not sure I want to google to check and see how many other animals are not dead when eaten.

Simonjt · 18/10/2021 21:07

I think a lot of seafood is either eaten alive or cooked alive, or sometimes even frozen alive.

ponkydonkey · 18/10/2021 21:09

@Frazzledd god my family were mad for it too, but I just couldn't stomach it

Is this true? Fresh oysters?

TheRealMrsJelly · 18/10/2021 21:13

I'm mind boggled by people not having even tried fairly basic fruit and veg like squash and avocado which you can buy in any supermarket.

It's a texture thing for me, just the thought of eating an avocado makes me gag.

userxx · 18/10/2021 21:14

Liver.

userxx · 18/10/2021 21:14

@Flufferty

I've never had turkey

Not missing much.

Maireas · 18/10/2021 21:18

Well. I've eaten every single thing on here!
I'm waiting for someone to come up with something I've never eaten. I would have said offal, but I've had sausages and haggis.

Davros · 18/10/2021 21:22

I've also eaten, or tried, everything on here. I don't like all of them (coffee vom)

Maireas · 18/10/2021 21:24

Yes, I've eaten them all, but most aren't part of my regular diet!

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 18/10/2021 21:27

I’ve never had SuperNoodles, anything from Greggs, a McFlurry, Pumpkin Spiced Latte (or anything), tinned sausages or spaghetti hoops.

Frazzledd · 18/10/2021 21:28

@Maireas Jellied eels? Tripe?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/10/2021 21:30

Tomato ketchup - I decided when very young that it looked disgusting, and nearly 50 years later, I haven't changed my mind.

Coriandersucks · 18/10/2021 21:33

Well yes, in a way. I was never encouraged to try things and now as an adult whilst I’ve got better at trying new things (coriander for example - I know I don’t like that!) there are certain foods I was adamant as a child that I wouldn’t like so have never had the desire to eat them. A cheeseboard would be my worst nightmare! Instead I’ve got by with the diet I have which whilst a bit limited is reasonably healthy at least.

I’m sometimes envious though of people who are proper foodies and can go to any restaurant and have their pick without discounting the majority of meals because it contains something they’ve never had.
