For me...

Marmite
Carrot cake
Black pudding
Lucozade

I've got to fifty and all these have so far passed me by. The likelihood is that won't change.

"Things that I'm kinda sorry I never got to try are salami and pepperoni, scallops, oysters, lobsters and calamari, off the top of my head. Also steak tartare. I wouldn't in a million years consider eating them now envy so I'll have to die wondering grin"

Never tried them and don't want to.

notacooldad · 18/10/2021 18:02

Figs- Is that ordinary? I can't think of anything!
Yeah, that's really ordinary. I use them several times a week for both sweets and savoury dishes.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/10/2021 18:03

"Eggnog"

Me neither, but I wouldn't call it ordinary. It's something some families have for Christmas isn't it and it's either part of your family traditions or isn't.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/10/2021 18:04

@TheLastLonelyBakedBeanInTheTin

Oysters Venison Haggis White pudding Snails (but I have tried frogs legs!) Foie Gras Tripe Offal/ organ meats Corn dogs

A whole bunch of other junk food I don't care about, too, I'm sure, but that's the things I can think of.

These are not ordinary foods. I don't even know what a corn dog is. I suppose organ meats were more common when I was growing up, liver, etc.

I disagree that they're ordinary for the average person in the UK.
Pinkandpink · 18/10/2021 18:06

Eggs, don’t like the smell so I haven’t tasted them ever even as a child.
Salmon
Tuna
Oysters

Grenlei · 18/10/2021 18:06

Tripe
Frogs Legs
White pudding (although I love black pudding so I probably should try it at some point)
Cockles, winkles & the like

Neonplant · 18/10/2021 18:10

Loads of animal products as I stopped eating meat at about 8 years old. Including things like KFC or kebab.

I think the animal products are particularly things which a young child wouldn't have typically had like oysters or offal.

Other than very early onselt vegetarianism I'm pretty broad minded when it comes to food so I struggle to think of anything.

It's absolutely rancid. So I've only had this once. I know people race about it but warm liquid egg is a no from me.
insancerre · 18/10/2021 18:11

I have eaten everything listed here except
Oysters
Black pudding

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 18/10/2021 18:11

Mac and cheese.

I like pasta. I like cheese. I don't like the thought of them together.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 18/10/2021 18:12

(Haggis is a normal food.)
(Corn dogs are probably normal in another country but not where I live.)

So far of the normal items listed, the only ones I haven't tried are:
Tripe
Frogs Legs

HunterHearstHelmsley · 18/10/2021 18:13

Baked beans. Something about them turns my stomach.

MyMabel · 18/10/2021 18:15

Dates, but I’m pregnant so that’s going to change when I get fed up of housing this baby.

cariaaad · 18/10/2021 18:17

Another one for baked beans. They are the devil. The smell makes me heave. I do like all other beans and tinned spaghetti though 🤷‍♀️

Anon992 · 18/10/2021 18:21

Marmalade. It seems weird to have what is basically a citrus jam, especially with bits of peel in it. I do like uncommon jams eg damson, greengage, just never got round to fancying trying marmalade.

KatherineJaneway · 18/10/2021 18:22

Kfc

TuftyMarmoset · 18/10/2021 18:22

I don't think I've had fig rolls or figs. I find it a bit weird that figs have the absorbed bodies of wasps in them.

MyMabel · 18/10/2021 18:22

Turkey twizzlers,
Turkey dinosaurs
Novelty potato things like smiley faces or potato alphabet.

In fact, pretty much all frozen food that’s mainly for kids. We never ate beige/freezer food as kids. I think I probably had a frozen pizza once as a child.. I still probably only have one maximum once a year, same with frozen chicken nuggets ect. I just hate freezer food 😂

hopeishere · 18/10/2021 18:24

Tuna either canned or fresh
Sardines

doadeer · 18/10/2021 18:25

Wow I literally can't think of any food i haven't tried unless I go really obscure like chicken feet or shark tongue or something 😅

MyMabel · 18/10/2021 18:27

@hopeishere oh my, you need to try a tuna steak.. a proper fresh tuna steak.

CaptaNoctem · 18/10/2021 18:31

Kebabs
McDonalds
Energy Drinks
Turkey Twizzlers or any other poor quality processed meat
Jagermeister or any other shots

thesnailandthewhale · 18/10/2021 18:31

Honey - the smell makes me heave
Avocado
Iced tea

notacooldad · 18/10/2021 18:31

I disagree that they're ordinary for the average person in the UK.
Plenty of people must be buying them if I can get them in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Aldi!
They are hardly a specialist food item.
