What was THE INCIDENT at your secondary school?

Inspired by a thread on another website that I randomly came across throught google.

Every school has some sort of 'infamous incident' that passed into the annals of school infamy and was the sole topic of gossip for months if not years.

What was yours?

Mine was the head teacher had an affair with another teacher. Both were married. It all became public on the last day of term and neither of them came back the following term. Just disappeared. No one talked about anything else for a long time.

Our head teacher was caught kerb-crawling in his spare time. Made it to the papers.
He resigned. Shame really, he was sound !

When a student (17yo girl) slept with her friend's dad at a house party

The head of games got caught shagging a 15 year old in the gym … twice - then he got sacked.

We had a load of chickens in the quad and one night someone broke in and killed them all - no known whether it was a pupil, the school didn’t mention it.

The science teacher was having an affair with one of the English teachers. One of the sixth formers had a crush on him and attacked the English teacher in a classroom. At the time everyone said what a lunatic this girl was but looking back, he flirted with the girls and someone saw him in the pub with her so perhaps there was more to it. After the English teachers divorce came through, he left her for someone else.

Unfortunately @Zilla1, I can't remember the teacher's subject. It was in the North East, quite a long time ago now, which explains the, by current standards, strange handling of it.

One teacher's subject I do recall was the woodwork teacher. Now he was killed, decapitated in a car accident, although that wasn't at school.

Don’t think mine really had one, not that I can remember.... although 2 kids from my class got excluded because the girl gave the boy a bj and a science teacher caught them..... that went around the whole school...
A rumour that went around my year group was a friend who was a virgin apparently slept with her hot boyfriend in a forest, except she didn’t it was one of her friends that lost her virginity. Seems fickle but back them it was high level gossip 🤣

My sisters school had quite the scandal, turns out a maths teacher was a gay pornstar in his spare time.... he left for a short while then came back but had some health issues and left, I suspect was stress as there’s no way to come back from that in high school...

My sisters school also had a girl that stabbed someone in the neck with a compass, she got arrested at school gates..

Percy gym yea her moved in with pupil just 6 weeks after she left school so it was obviously going on beforehand. Several teachers having affairs. RE teacher got sacked after asking a girl what colour her knickers were in front of witnesses. A teacher and 6th year came to blows. Someone got sent to year heaf office, the year head stepped out and came back to an awol student and his goldfish stapled to the wall…it was a very boring school…

An affair between male music teacher and year 11 girl. He left his wife for her. Last I heard they're still married. Another affair between youngish male English teacher and one of his ex-students, they're still married too with a couple of kids. He swore blind nothing happened until after she'd left school. I don't think I believe him. Grim. No idea how either of them remained employed. Then it came out they were mates of the Head, who also had an affair with a year 11 girl. Disgusting shower of bastards.

We also had a 'mystery shitter'. Random poos would turn up all over school. Apparently it was a girl but I don't know how we knew this.

A kid died during PE lesson. Sudden heart failure.

Jesus Christ, i read part of your link and it reminded me again how messed up the US is (i am from there). So many drunk driving deaths and shootings.

A friend had twins aged 14.
A pupil was put in detention. His older brother was not happy about it and turned up at Sports Day a few days later with a sawn off shot gun.
Multiple cases of male teachers having 'relationships' (ie abusing) girls under 16.
Maths teacher enjoyed chucking an old fashioned blackboard eraser (the kind with the heavy wooden enclosure to them) at pupils who irritated him. Until he blinded a kid in one eye.

Sadly we had a pupil abducted and murdered.

I wont say who but you will have heard of it.

So as much as we were all in quiet respectful shock and no one really gossiped about it - it did make all other incidents pale into comparison and they never really lasted more than 5 minutes and none were ever to 'infamy level'.

@nauticant mine was Midlands. Incompetent bomb-making though real intent and could have been lethal to teacher or his wife and children. No prosecution either and similar outcome of return to school. Different times.

At primary school there were endless rumours of teacher A having an affair with the headmaster, later proved to be right.

A few years later there was more scandal. The headmaster had been caught drink driving and taken to the police station. Teacher A went to pick him up, unfortunately, she drove there drunk and was also arrested. There was a big story in the local rag about it when they appeared in court together and were convicted.

At high school it was the rumour that the music teacher had got a prefect pregnant a few years earlier. I have no idea if it is true or not but I feel really sorry for the teacher if it wasn't. His nickname was randy (name) which was used by every pupil in the school, even when they were in his class. I ended up having private lessons with him and it turns out he was a lovely man.

Our school and the school in the neighbouring town hated each other. We was in home economics class when we heard a commotion coming from the top of the hill which is situated next to the school. Lots of kids from the other school had baseball bats and god knows what else. Must have been at least a hundred of them. Then a load of students in my class and other classes went out with what ever they could find and stood at the bottom of the hill making their battle cries and saying how crap their school was. We could see outside from the upper floor window in the cookery room it all unfolding. To us 14 year olds at the time we thought it was like a scene out of brave heart there was including a few moonies too). The teachers and the police turned up after 10 mins and dispersed them all and it never happened since but it got talked about for years.

In Scotland it's the 4th year of high school. DC can leave school after this if not taking higher exams

I thought it was standard for every school to have at least one teacher/teacher affair, one teacher/student affair and a compass stabbing per intake.

There was a geography teacher with a vibrator found in her bag and that stuck for years. Plus the purple passion killer, aptly known because the teacher asked the students to get something out of his boot which was art supplies, only to also find a pair of purple underpants in there which looked like they had been used as a rag with paint on.

A 15 year old in my class got bigger, and bigger and bigger but swore blind she wasn't pregnant (not that many people dared ask her - she was a bit handy with her fists). French mock O's and the teacher came in to tell us she'd had a baby boy the day before so wouldn't be sitting the exam. (This was back in 1979 or thereabouts).

At my DDs high school the leavers always organised some kind of prank on their last day.

One year they somehow managed to get hold of several sheep and let them loose in the corrider.

After that year they never told the kids when their last day would be, just sent them home on a random day near the end of term and told them not to come back!

Someone in our year shagged a teacher - she later married him.

I was at a quiet girls’ grammar school in the early sixties and one of the sixth formers was stabbed outside the school by an ex-boyfriend. the school was besieged by press. The girl recovered,
A pregnant girl was made to leave as soon as the school became aware of her condition.
One of my female colleagues left her husband for a sixth former (I don’t think I ever had a boyfriend who was still at school). At the same school, casting for the school play was more a case of some of the male teachers selecting the girls they fancied.
The DH of a school I taught in many years ago is doing 17 years for abusing male pupils. We honestly had no idea but it makes me feel sick to think it was going on and we weren’t able to help the boys involved. I really wish I could go back in time.

There were two.
