What was THE INCIDENT at your secondary school?

Inspired by a thread on another website that I randomly came across throught google.

Every school has some sort of 'infamous incident' that passed into the annals of school infamy and was the sole topic of gossip for months if not years.

What was yours?

Mine was the head teacher had an affair with another teacher. Both were married. It all became public on the last day of term and neither of them came back the following term. Just disappeared. No one talked about anything else for a long time.

Someone broke into our school science lesson, the deputy head was teaching that particular class. He was ordered out into corridor and the man then proceeded to stab one young girl who sadly died.

It was horrific- I will never forget it and think of her family often.

A girl at my secondary school became a murder victim whose name was quite well known nationally at the time. The murderer was never convicted.

There was a ghost in the girls toilets and the priest came out to exorcise them.

Oh yeah some students decided to strike and stand out on the football pitches. The teachers came out and pelted then with eggs and flour. My year campaigned for debarked students to be allowed to wear trousers. It was the west of Scotland ffs with at least 240 days of rain each year and minus temperatures for 3 months. We finally got allowed especially as it was discriminatory.

The male teacher who had a succession of former sixth former girlfriends - obviously groomed whilst they were still pupils.

The male teacher who left his wife (fellow teacher) for a female pupil the summer she finished her GCSEs.

The creepy technical drawing teacher who would lean all over you when 'checking' your work, always wanted girls to stay behind to help tidy the store cupboard and built up to flashing a female student.

It was the late '80s, things were different then.

Two peteachers having an open affair, it was so obvious.

One A level teacher had an affair, got pregnant, started showing and all of us were gossiping. She finally broke down and admitted it to us in a lesson. I felt really sorry for her.

14 year old girl having a sexual relationship with the 30 year old bus driver who had been grooming her since she was 12. All the teachers knew, her parents did and invited him over to stay for weekends!!

The dirty bastard never ever got in trouble for it.

French teacher cracked after and grabbed a pupil by the neck, holding him up against a wall.left straight aftwperwards.

Very tragic incident in my first term at an all-girls' grammar school.
The Head Girl who seemed like a goddess to 11-year-old me being very tall and elegant, and headed for Oxbridge, was killed in a car crash along with her boyfriend.
They were on their way home after performing in a local am dram production. It was a huge shock to the whole school.
Incidentally I was a boarder there; it was a state school but had a boarding house which was a large Edwardian building a few minutes walk from the main school. We used to scare ourselves silly with tales of a resident ghost.... This was previous owner (or possibly his son) who had hanged himself from a butcher's hook in what was now a dormitory. Or so we were told....

We had the usual teen pregnancies at our school.
A teacher who was in his 50’s was sleeping with a 5th year (15/16 year old). She left school and later married him.
A 1st year pupil was expelled for attacking a maths teacher.

In year 8 two of the popular kids were caught by the police having sex under the local danger bridge.

Everyone laughed thinking it was a rumour until social services got involved and we had big class assemblies on sex.

It was quite the scandal.

A boy died on a school trip. It was due to a health condition he had, but lots of rumours about murder or suicide.

My school always hired a local function room for a sixth form Christmas dinner. Normally a civilised ‘grown up’ dinner with some alcohol. When I was in year 11, the sixth formers sneaked in spirits and caused hundreds of pounds of damage to the venue, which the school had to pay out. By the time I was in sixth form, the Christmas dinner no longer happened.

And the Physics teacher everyone hated got dumped in Paris on Valentine's Day. She thought he was going to propose and he broke down over a meal.

One of the teachers told her TA who had a daughter at school. It spread like WILDFIRE.

To be honest it must have been awful for her.

Two people died at the school, suddenly and unexpectedly in separate incidents. One was a pupil, the other a teacher. I believe they both had heart attacks. Both deaths were extremely sad.

A teacher allegedly got locked in a cupboard one Friday by a pupil, and wasn’t found and rescued until Monday. He survived, but apparently the experience sent him mad. Poor bloke. I remember him as a nice teacher.

Apparently a allegedly alcoholic teacher threw a chair at a boy at our school.
Everyone talked about, not sure how true it was. The teacher was still there when I left (a few years after the said incident)

Some of these are really horrific

Male chemistry teacher at our school had a relationship with a Y5 girl. They got engaged when she left the school, but she eventually saw the light and dumped him.

We also had a fake teacher who was very charming, but had forged their qualifications. They didn’t teach the syllabus, so their pupils didn’t exactly do well in their exams.

The teacher left, but the whole thing was kept very quiet. The last I heard, Fake Teacher was teaching at another school.

When the 15/16 year olds went on strike!! Made the local papers. Can’t remember why though!! It was around 1977.

This wasn’t a school beginning with B in Hampshire was it?

God there is a lot of dodgy relationships going on. In my school it was the music teacher…

There was the day the science block caught fire. That was quite an incident!

I wonder if we were at the same school.

Further to my earlier post, my brothers very expensive Catholic monastery school had a rape issue. Standard sexual abuse of pupils. Power and control. They were all raped. The school is still massively popular with well to do parents. Makes me vomit.

Maths teacher murdered his wife and dog. School caretaker killed himself by drinking weed killer

A plump kid got in the way of a javelin and cry went up "The whale has been harpooned!"

Nothing exiting other than some teacher tried to keep the whole class behind for detention because no one would admit who farted. Several mums of the girls in the class were outraged and staged a mass complain at the school office

1988. My male A level history of art teacher took us to Amsterdam alone. God knows who signed that off. We arrived, having been sick as dogs from booze, fags and seakness and he didn't see any of the 15 of us together for 3 days. I girl disappeared on arrival and rolled up as the coach pulled away.
