Can someone explain what my son saw?

My DS (14) and his friends went for a walk deep in the woods yesterday. They came across four people standing in a circle with candles and markings on the ground. Two were dressed in all black, very smart, like priests. The other two were in normal clothes and were bleeding from their arms. My son said he saw them cut themselves, they were mumbling something inaudible while the two in all black held their arms in the air and chanted. When they realised they were being watched one of the people in black told the boys they were going to cut their heads off if they don’t leave. I know it’s true because one of the kids filmed it and I’ve watched it. Wtf!?

DH is pagan and enjoys woods and rituals and stuff. Wasn't him though. He's doing the grouting. I'll get him to WhatsApp his mates and see if they've been down to the woods today.
@hoodathunkit that might be one of the all time top 100 mullets, sorry if that is mullet-ist.
Could be the Mumsnet haircut.

Do you think they stumbled upon a film set...doing a retakes costs money you know.

The children stayed around to film the video, so were not that scared about being possibly headless later.!

YearsSinceISawYou · 17/10/2021 14:12

It is a ritual that generally takes place before a dogging session

or

it is just bollocks.

iklboo · 17/10/2021 14:12

They’re probably lik rly into Aleister Crowley.

I work with someone related to distantly Aleister Crowley. Utterly lovely bloke (mate, not Crowley).

Agree it's either film club amateur time or pillocks who've been titting about on t'internet too much thinking they're 'kewl Satanists'.

There's no visible camera or sound in those photos so not film students.

Likely being filmed on a phone rather than 'proper' film students. Or a Go Pro in the trees.

TableFlowerss · 17/10/2021 14:19

It takes all sorts I guess…..
@TheSpottedZebra No, one of my son’s friends said my son’s name in the video so I don’t want to post it.
FYI OP, you can edit the sound out of video on all phones.

iPhone, click the video, click edit then hit the speaker icon in the top left and save.

Android the location will depend on the photo opener but it will be somewhere under the editing options

@mollycobbles

Am I seeing the same thing in the first photo as everyone else? It looks like a scary figure with its head thrown back and its mouth open?!

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

This is a parenting forum populated largely by frazzled, middle class premenopausal women. We've been excitedly arguing about a second hand changing bag in a charity shop for several weeks now. The chances of any of us having insider knowledge of satanic forest rituals are quite slim, tbh.
Some of us a peri-menopausal.

Just sayin'.

Toomanybedrooms · 17/10/2021 14:34

@WitchesInTheWoods
any updates???
genuinely intrigued.

FindingMeno · 17/10/2021 14:35

Did you not go and investigate yourself at the time?
There's no way I could've resisted.

ALittleBitWorrriedNow · 17/10/2021 14:36

Some kind of blood sharing/binding ritual.

What I don’t understand is wtf your son felt the need to film it. Massive invasion of their privacy and very rude.

You have a career in comedy ( knowing Mumsnet you possibly are a famous comedian- just incognito )
I wish Grin I'm honestly boring as fuck irl so this thread has made my week Blush

Craftycorvid · 17/10/2021 14:37

Eh up, post-menopausal witch here. No idea re the ritual. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose, but self injurious behaviours or animal cruelty or anything else people assume we get up to in woods would not feature in any rituals in which I’ve participated. (And I wouldn’t take part in any that included those elements). Threatening youngsters is never cool though so reporting what they saw is probably safest. Most pagan folk are peaceable souls.

To be fair, I'd happily participate in a satanic forest ritual if it meant I could get out of cooking dinner and helping DD2 with her (never ending) graduate apprenticeship applications.
JesusInTheCabbageVan · 17/10/2021 14:39

@JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue annoyingly I typed perimenoupasal and my know-it-all autocorrect decided to 'fix' It for me.

safariboot · 17/10/2021 14:39

I think the next step is to take a camera, go there, and split up to nvestigate.

Maybe don't split up as they threatened to chop a child's head off

redannie THat's very interesting, thank you. Angels don't have souls?

I was raised Catholic too, but, not a very good one. I though that an angel was an extra pious, extra good person who'd been promoted to being extra saved after St John did the admin at the Pearly Gates.

I think I may have misunderstood some stuff when I was daydreaming in Mass.

MushMonster · 17/10/2021 14:42

It is still the best post in the whole thread, likely in the whole MMs month!
Do we have rosettes in MM?

I must insist that you download a simple video editing app to remove the sound from the video enabling you to post the full vid here. Entirely to satifsfy my curiosity.

Angels are considered to be God's first creations -- intellect and will, but no body or soul. They aren't and never were people; extra good people become saints in the Catholic faith.

It's in the catechism.

Some angels don’t even look human they’re supposed to be weird floating wheels covered in eyes
