Hot chocolate - milk or water...

So everyone in my house minus me and dd are hot chocolate fanatics, DS absolutely loves them, so went shopping with a friend, was picking up a pack of hot chocolate, they always say mix with hot water.... now we’ve always made ours with milk despite what it says on the packet, friends says she always uses water. I don’t even drink it but the thought of it being mixed with water makes me cringe.... so are you a water or a milk person?

Thanks Soup & Bunny, that's good to know.

Milk. And real chocolate flakes or chips. I can’t be doing with anything powdered.

IdontPracticeSanteria · 15/10/2021 08:14

Part milk, part water. Can't do all milk as too rich for me. But I'm not a hot chocolate fan tbh, so it's a very rare drink.

1.5 tsp Cocoa powder -green and blacks- into mug of hot whole milk with .5 tsp of sugar then whisked. All hot chocolates taste ‘thin’ and chemical.

For all posters who make their hot chocolate using only milk and actual melted chocolate/chips what is the ratio of chocolate to milk you use? So you use dark or milk chocolate? I am yet to make it this way and until i get a velvitiser want to try this.

Blackmagicqueen · 15/10/2021 18:34

Do*

isthismylifenow · 15/10/2021 18:46

Am I alone here? . I use water.

The hot choc powder has powdered milk in it. Adding more milk makes it too rich imo.

I will leave gracefully.. Smile

Velvetiser, Hazelnut milk here. Tastes just like praline.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 15/10/2021 19:32

@SoupDragon

You can also use Biscoff spread in a Velvetiser.

I imagine you can also use Nutella but DD has eaten all of that.

Shock

That sounds amazing.!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 15/10/2021 20:57

Nutella with milk works well
