Can’t seem to find photos of it now but this was it before it was sold:-

Small three bed house with tiny garden. Ridiculous really.

Or alternatively a patch of land on which to build something brand new (at additional cost obvs)

Mrbob · 14/10/2021 13:20

Not much that costs that much near me. But would get you a luxury 4-5 bed/3 bath right on the sea front with a pool. Beautiful miles of sand. 20 minute drive to the CBD. And 40 minutes to wine region.
But that’s Australia

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/10/2021 13:29

there's only one 7 figure property on rightmove in my immediate postcode - a seven bed detached. Going out to three miles gets a few more of the same (5-7 bed detached suburban houses) or alternatively 3-4 bed city centre apartments, which are insanely overpriced IMO. Don't fancy any of them myself, and if the money fell from the sky overnight I would genuinely rather buy a 4 bed semi that I've seen on for £650k.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 14/10/2021 13:32

good call @MauveMavis on your dream flat. I love that they've kept some of the original kitchen and bathroom features.

This has it's own chapel!

emmathedilemma · 14/10/2021 14:15

A penthouse flat. I'm not sure I like chimneys enough to pay that for it! espc.com/property/s09-the-playfair-at-donaldsons-edinburgh-eh12-5fa/35910638?sid=112900

I'm hoping the dog comes with the house!

MauveMavis · 14/10/2021 22:26

@TheTurn0fTheScrew not an original kitchen. Expensive replica probably by one of the two Barbican specialists.

I’m a Barbican geek but got priced out!! If I win on my premium bonds I’ll be back in like a shot…

A 400 acre farm, with 4 bed farmhouse and various sheds etc.

300 acre hunting retreat with a 7 bedroom lodge, apparently!

11 bedroom with oodles of land it's POA though so might be over budget

PivotPivotPivottt · 14/10/2021 23:18

The most expensive house listed for sale in my town is a 7 bedroom detached for £360000 so around 4 of them.

Silversilverstreet · 14/10/2021 23:50

@oldwhyno, if you don’t fancy that £1.75 million pound house in Cambridge, this striking house is quite close by for less than half the price.

You might want to spend a bit on the kitchen, though, and the ceilings in the upstairs rooms.

GiantKitten · 14/10/2021 23:59

Nice quiet country house but still quite handy for the motorway.
Too big for me though. I wouldn’t know what to do with myself!

No single house that expensive in 25 mile radius Smile but there is one detached house with 21 acres and an equestrian facility - 10 stables/offices for 1.25 million which is closest to your budget.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 15/10/2021 00:43

I'm an expat, but this is less than a 10 minute walk from me: streeteasy.com/building/slate-condominium/5a

Kezzie200 · 15/10/2021 06:35

It currently buys a house in my town that I've always loved and that sold 3 years ago for under 700k (and I thought that was too high!)

So much for Cornish prices in the last year!

It's a lovely house, fab views, 5 bedrooms and parking, but rubbish access.
