Following on from the ' have you met abs infamous criminal' thread. Has anyone met a celebrity (bonus points for really famous) and were they nice?

Roger Daltry absolute legend such a normal bloke if you didn’t know you’d never guess he’s a true rockstar

Bb16103 · 14/10/2021 18:04

Darren Day - visiting his manager in hospital around 20 years ago. Embarrassed to admit that I was immediately smitten, I used to think it was insane reading the papers how he had girls throwing themselves at him but he had something about him. If I could bottle whatever he had I’d be rich
(He was shorter than I’d expected & average handsome too but had a real wow factor about him & was really very pleasant)

Monimom · 14/10/2021 18:07

James Martin - very down to earth and charming. Genuinely interested and happy to chat/have photos. Struck me as warmer than he comes across on the telly.

ReginaaPhalange · 14/10/2021 18:13

I've bumped into a few celebrities at LAX - vin diesel, Jennifer Anniston (she's soooooo nice) and I've also seen Scarlett Johannsen too; but couldn't get near her lol!

Met Elon musk once too - strange character - nice guy though!

Through work back in the day at Sky, some national celebs too such as David Walliams, Alan Carr and Amanda Holden (did not like her - so full of herself and acted like she was super important)!

Howie Mendel too from americas got talent - saw him in London a couple of years back - my husband thought it was the guy from master chef 🤣🤣

I think the BIGGEST 'celebrities' (for me where I majorly fangirled) I've met though is Ryan Serhent and Dr Mike when I was in NY at the start of 2020! Both gorgeous guys 🤤🤤🤤

ReginaaPhalange · 14/10/2021 18:17

Oh and I've seen Frankie Boyle a couple of times around Glasgow - too scared to approach him as god only knows what comebacks he'd have lol!!!

ReginaaPhalange · 14/10/2021 18:18

@Indigomint awww David Walliams was lovely when I met him back in the day when I worked at Sky. He was lovely and so smiley! Didn't come across as 'camp' as he does on TV

Justhavingacuppa · 14/10/2021 18:18

Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York) - she was a cow.

Bridgetnoknickers · 14/10/2021 18:20

I was 16 and in Chicago with my cousin. Met a very famous R&B star who gave me his number on a McDonald’s napkin….

ShockWas R Kelly

Anthony Head lives in the next village, so my family have seen him in the shop now and again. Always very polite and with a ready smile. My son and some mates once got up enough nerve to ask him something about Buffy, and he took the time to chat with them. Made their day.

My dad used to work in a large bank before online banking, so often saw celebs. He said Oliver Reed was a true gentleman.

A friend did some extra work with Jack Whitehall and said his ego outshone any talent.

oakleydo · 14/10/2021 18:22

Loads.
Freddie flintoff. Very charming
Craig revel horwood. Well hello daaaarling
Paul weller. I was drunk, he was kind and friendly

Stripes8 · 14/10/2021 18:22

I met Caitlyn Jenner in Brisbane in 2019, she was lovely, friendly & had a pic with me! Smile

Kittysummer · 14/10/2021 18:26

Mollie Sugden, lovely. Frankie Howard, rude, Bobbie Davro twice, funny but drunk, Lee Mack before he made tv. Heather from Eastenders absolutely lovely.

Rachand23 · 14/10/2021 18:30

From the world of golf

Miguel Angel Jimenez- lovely bloke, takes a lot of time for his regular fans I.e my DH, and doesn’t mind that I prefer shopping to watching the golf! Lol He always asks if I’m off to the shops in good humour!

Colin Montgomery- horrible guy! Middle of the golf course completely empty I am walking along and hear a golf cart being driven behind me, so I patiently stand to the side to let it past - who was sitting in it CM him self who turned his head away from me so he wouldn’t have to say thank you! Just about sums him up.

Also met the Hairy Bikers, both nice down to earth guys.

VK456 · 14/10/2021 18:30

Very brief interactions (on two separate occasions) with Margot Robbie and Vanessa Feltz. I’m glad that they were brief, because they were both totally up themselves.

WoofWoofMooWoof · 14/10/2021 18:32

Colin Firth - absolute total self indulgent diva.
Dolph Lundgren - lovely man.
Richard Branston - hilarious and lovely.
Dave Bautista - lovely guy and a real gentleman.
Gary Oldman - meh.

Teatotal2 · 14/10/2021 18:33

@Nordstrom

Quite a few (did a lot of tv/film extra work).

But I can confirm that the the genuinely loveliest most humble celebrity I have ever met is Simon Reeve.

Oh, have a bit of thing for him already, you've just fuelled my crush😄
AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 14/10/2021 18:33

Aw I’ve never met anyone famous 😩

Very jealous of those who met Keith flint and Andrew llloyd Webber, phantom is my favourite!

Gerard butler was filming not far from me (an hour roughly) a few years ago and I regret not going to meet him, would have asked for a phantom serenade ❤️

ElizaDarcysDeeds · 14/10/2021 18:35

I've met lots over the years through work -

Gael Garcia Bernal - quiet, polite, gorgeous.
Daniel Bedingfield - funny, bubbly
Princess Anne - surprisingly chatty and interested in people
Liberty X - the girls were all absolutely tiny - but very friendly, no diva behaviour at all. The boys were very funny.
Michelle McManus - so nice, chatted to everyone, very professional
Justin and Colin - the interior designers - we went to the same local shops and they always chatted to people.

Others who were great to work with and good with the public were - Texas; Kaye Adams; New Kids on the Block; James Marsters.

StellF · 14/10/2021 18:39

I met Tony Stockwell, he was a lovely man.
As a child I met Duncan Norvelle and Duggie Brown in Blackpool, they were so friendly and lovely and stopped for photographs!
I have also met Ioan Gruffudd...not so nice.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 14/10/2021 18:50

Billy Connolly. Just really down to earth, really friendly and so so funny. I still smile when I think of meeting him.

Supergirl1958 · 14/10/2021 19:02

Yes. I went to school with Michelle Keegan who obviously wasn't a celebrity then.

I've met and had a conversation with Alistair Griffin! He's so nice!

I've met Steve Cram, Noel Gallagher, Stuart Broad, Kate Moss, David Rudisha. All during the 2012 Olympics.

The Chelsea football team from the days of yore also trained on my school's football field when they played my local team (Manchester United Grin) but this was like 20 years ago.

I've also met Jade Jones and Lutalo Mohammed who were both just really lovely!!

Supergirl1958 · 14/10/2021 19:03

Ooh I also met Jody Latham

Tictocrobot · 14/10/2021 19:06

Helen Mcrory - a bit mad and totally wonderful

Supergirl1958 · 14/10/2021 19:07

@VanCleefArpels

Prince Andrew. I was 15 and at a private social event. He was a letchy creep.

Prince Phillip, at an event at my university. He was very funny and shorter than you’d think

Piers Morgan, at a fundraising event. Extremely lovely and engaging. Phil Tufnell at the same event, entitled and rude

Thats a shame! Tuffers has always come across as really lovely, so a bit disappointed to read that :(
oakleaffy · 14/10/2021 19:09

Princess Diana, At a work event
What a wonderful woman Diana was.
She genuinely had empathy for those who suffered.
She was wealthy, but understood emotional suffering on a deep level.
