Anyone else had this horrid (none covid) fluey virus?

Had 3pcrs in 10days, all neg.
Double jabbed since April.
Flu jab 2weeks ago.

Last night I woke shivering quite violently with a temp. After ibruprofen it stopped and I just had a temp. Managed to get to work and I've ached horrendously all day.

Back home now and I feel rough AF.

Anyone else had this grim lurgy? Xx

Started with shivers & a temp last week. Negative pcr. Bunged up but not snotty. My body just feels weak. Everything aches. Knees giving way if I try & do anything. Breathless just sitting. Constant exhaustion from doing nothing. It's grim!

WouldBeGood · 07/10/2021 08:43

Just shows there are lots of bugs just as nasty, or nastier, than Covid.

whatswithtodaytoday · 07/10/2021 08:49

Are you PCR negative and LFT positive? Or both negative? I think if they're both negative you're fine to assume it's another virus, though going to work when you're sick isn't a great idea.

@TheRealMrsMorningstar

Yes me and dd2 (6) - it took two weeks for her to no longer be lethargic but she is still snotty and has a chesty cough. I am feeling like I have a head cold and a sore throat and feeling really rough.

Dd1 (18) and DH have it fairly mild. We have done PCRs and came back negative (DH and DD1 already had covid and us 3 double vaccinated). It is going through school like nobodies business at the minute.

Should have said I also have a tickly cough and dd2 had on and off temperature over a few days.
PinkFootstool · 07/10/2021 09:25

@WouldBeGood why yes, the common cold frequently leads to pandemic levels of hospitalisation, the need to be intubated and long term issues with blood clots 🙄

People who are sick with a bad cold aren't going to die from it. Our usual immune systems are capable of learning how to fight this. The immune system is overwhelmed by Covid-19.

PinkFootstool · 07/10/2021 09:27

@whatswithtodaytoday Could you link to the tweet? I'm also in the SW and have had negative PCRs despite all the obvious symptoms.

It's made it into the news now: inews.co.uk/news/covid-lateral-flow-tests-negative-pcr-1236141 (I saw it on Kit Yates' Twitter, who is quoted).

JanglyBeads · 07/10/2021 09:37

It seems to be happening in the SW a lot but a bit in other areas.

What a lot of bollocks

PinkFootstool · 07/10/2021 09:47

@whatswithtodaytoday lovely, thank you

MadamMalkin · 07/10/2021 09:49

Yes, my cough has eased after a few weeks, but my nose is still running like a tap and red raw.

Iputthetrampintrampoline · 07/10/2021 10:28

Yes and they are dropping like flies at my work too.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 07/10/2021 10:38

Week four here and I'm still feeling crap.

The cough is finally only random now.

I've lft twice a week all the way through and had pcr as I was convinced I had Covid.

Heavy snot followed by a really heavy chest and head and then sinusitis and still feeling muzzy so it's not totally gone.

justasking111 · 07/10/2021 12:38

Well in Wales we have this OH joy.

Anyone else had this horrid (none covid) fluey virus?
justasking111 · 07/10/2021 12:41

If you live in NW or SW you can blame us for your RSV 🙈

woodhill · 07/10/2021 12:42

I feel so awful, haven't been in work. Sore throat, headache, upset stomach, not sleeping well

riotlady · 07/10/2021 12:46

Yep, hideous. Don’t think it was a coke as wasn’t snotty at all but cough, fever, terrible headache, negative pcr and lft.

Just got over it and immediately caught a cold!

crapatthis1 · 09/10/2021 09:44

Well two weeks ago DD and I came down with this. I had a hacking chesty cough that made me sick, couldn't sleep, barely sniffly though. It seemed to last ages. DD caught it off me, she had very sniffly nose, cough and really high temp. Negative PCR's.

We got over it but literally a week and a half on it's come back to both of us with a vengeance. So upset as I thought we were over it. I didn't think it could come back like that. I have the exact same symptoms, DD the same but she started with a sore tummy and was sick. Negative PCR's again.

My chest rib is so sore with all the coughing.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 09/10/2021 11:44

The cough is still there 11 days on - so much flegm, eugh. Keep feeling breathless too - only for periods of time but it's rotten. It needs to do one.

justasking111 · 10/10/2021 12:36

Neighbor had a positive test last month just a bit of a cough. He's since caught this lurgy and is really rough two weeks in

BlanketPiggy · 10/10/2021 14:10

I got it over a week ago and it's still bad. How long does it take to go away?!

BlanketPiggy · 10/10/2021 14:10

@crapatthis1 just saw your update. I think I'm getting a second wave of it too. It's so painful!

astoundedgoat · 10/10/2021 14:12

My 12 year old has had it for weeks. She’s happy enough in herself, but coughing and runny nose without end. It’s the longest she has ever been unwell.

She’s still going to school & it has been doing the rounds.
