Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 06/10/2021 18:17

Had 3pcrs in 10days, all neg.
Double jabbed since April.
Flu jab 2weeks ago.

Last night I woke shivering quite violently with a temp. After ibruprofen it stopped and I just had a temp. Managed to get to work and I've ached horrendously all day.

Back home now and I feel rough AF.

Anyone else had this grim lurgy? Xx

Yeh I agree @Iggly!

I know a few people last year got away without a yearly cold but this year they are back and I think flawing people, that like you say have forgot how grim it can make you xx

Surely a PCR test would pick up a new strain?

AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2021 22:15

Yep. Started with it yesterday, woke up really tired and by about 9 AM my throat was killing me.last night I had barely any sleep and today have been feeling mostly like death. In the middle of the night I was convinced I had COVID because of how much I was coughing.

I am already in heart failure, partly brought about by the flu 5 years ago, so naturally all my family are anxious. But because of that I have to be extra cautious re my breathing and to check I don’t end up with fluid on my lungs. I have a 1500ml fluid restriction and am on diuretics, so drinking loads isn’t an option for me.

Haven’t been able to stay in bed, my dogs won’t walk themselves.

Yes.

But luckily for me it was a three day one - today I’m mostly back to normal, although maybe more nose-blowing than normal.

SlipperTripper · 06/10/2021 22:18

There's certainly some stinky colds going around. I've had one for about a week, but pregnant and quite low anyway, so think it's dragged on a bit. 10yo was ok after a few days, with some calpol perk ups.

16yo swerved it, but DH started feeling rough tonight so now we'll really know how bad it can possibly be. He's sure it's flu AT THE VERY LEAST. As opposed to Ebola at the worst, presumably.

Pray for him, he asked for codeine. Perked up after some Dairy Milk though 🙄

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 06/10/2021 22:20

Oh gosh I hope you make a speedy recovery @AlternativePerspective.

I'm going to try and sleep this off now. Hoping I don't wake up a shakey shivering wreck like last night xx

One of my dc’s has a headfull of cold. Totally bunged up,

It happens this time of year. Hey ho!

Timeisavirtue · 06/10/2021 22:30

Dd is at the tail end, she keeps losing her voice.. think it’s developed into laryngitis. She’s okay, still eating etc just slightly blocked nose and loss of voice, her sore throat is wading. Kept her off today and maybe tomorrow... just to clear it up.

justasking111 · 06/10/2021 22:56

Haven't been ill since first lockdown. I read that our bodies would be poleaxed by the first viruses that would hit us

WouldBeGood · 06/10/2021 22:58

Dd19 snd ds13 have had it. It’s horrible. Hope you feel better soon

ToCutALongStoryShort · 06/10/2021 22:59

Yes, I had it, took nearly 3 weeks to get over it properly. Think son caught it at school. We all got tested, all negative. I'm double jagged.

ToCutALongStoryShort · 06/10/2021 23:01

Also still got a bit of croaky voice, had sore stomach and indigestion, was getting quite worried at one point.

JanglyBeads · 06/10/2021 23:02

In some areas public health are saying that if you have Covid symptoms and test positive on LFT you should presume it’s Covid even if negative on PCR.

Look up Zoe app’s list of common delta symptoms in the vaccinated and unvaccinated too.

Are they putting this on the news? They need to spread the word or people are just going to carry on thinking they are clear
JanglyBeads · 07/10/2021 08:03

It’s only got as far as Twitter AFAIK….

But they can hardly come out and officially say the PCR tests aren’t working!

HairyFloppins · 07/10/2021 08:07

Yes me and dd had it have never felt so ill and we have had covid last year. DH started to get it then shook it off quicker. Negative LFTs and PCRs.

Still got a cough weeks on.

ClemDanFango · 07/10/2021 08:10

Yes I’m on day 10 and can’t shift it. 2 neg PCRs and almost daily LFT’s all neg. had enough now.

SmileySandwich · 07/10/2021 08:15

Is it definitely not covid? I mean I'm off to work today as test negative and no temperature so...

whatswithtodaytoday · 07/10/2021 08:16

Just feeling better now after three weeks and antibiotics. The cough was something else, my son vomited from it and I came close.

I've caught plenty of bugs over the last few months from my son being at nursery, so definitely not lack of immunity - just a really nasty virus. Negative on LFT and PCR.

whatswithtodaytoday · 07/10/2021 08:17

@Bookridden

Yes! 2 negative pcr tests, but feverish, coughs and aches and pains. Fatigue +++. Strangely, we haven't had the runny nose you get with a cold. So much like Covid, lateral flow tests were positive, but pcrs said no. Weird virus.
That's Covid. There are quite a few threads on it and I saw on Twitter that Public Health are now investigating. Are you in the South West or Swindon area, by any chance?
SmileySandwich · 07/10/2021 08:19

Are you in the South West or Swindon area, by any chance? I am. Oh ffs. They need to do something people are going to die because of this!!

x2boys · 07/10/2021 08:25

Im in the Northwest but have exactly these symptoms, and exhausted both LFT, s and PCR, negative, i assumed it must just be another virus 🤷‍♀️

Yup!! Iv been sick for a week, off from work with high temp, sore throat, cough, sneezing, have a chest infection now so on a course of antibiotics, negative rapid covid test.
TheRealMrsMorningstar · 07/10/2021 08:26

Yes me and dd2 (6) - it took two weeks for her to no longer be lethargic but she is still snotty and has a chesty cough. I am feeling like I have a head cold and a sore throat and feeling really rough.

Dd1 (18) and DH have it fairly mild. We have done PCRs and came back negative (DH and DD1 already had covid and us 3 double vaccinated). It is going through school like nobodies business at the minute.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 07/10/2021 08:28

I've got it - been over a week now and I don't seem to be improving. Feels like a sinus infection, nothing chesty at all. I cannot stop sneezing and blowing my nose. Banging headache. I've had two neg PCR tests (work requires them). I can still smell; the dog keeps farting and it's definitely there! I'm in the NW.
