Just that really. It feels so freeing to know I won't lose an hour this evening to mindless scrolling...

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

DDs rather enjoy their nightly video call with their father. Voice calls aren't quite the same...

(Internet calling can be a lifeline for those who can't see their families regularly, especially in different countries. DH hasn't been able to come home for over two weeks now and its just been extended again. Stupid Covid)

Absolutely agree, lots of the patients in my hospital use facetime/WhatsApp to see family, especially when stuck in isolation or when visiting ia restricted.
EasterIssland · 04/10/2021 21:21

No family live abroad. Everyone I love lives abroad so worried something will have happened to them and I can’t help them

Could you try a different video calling service? Like Skype or Teams? As long as you have an account the other person doesn't need one. You just email them a link to join your call.
JayAlfredPrufrock · 04/10/2021 21:23

My volunteering role can’t function without them.

Yep, bliss without my phone pinging with notifications every few minutes. Even when it's back, I'm staying off for a few days. Everyone status will be a many one about not getting logged in
Bluntness100 · 04/10/2021 21:25

Can you really not control youtself? It needs to be down for you to not go on? That’s really unhealthy.

Miseryl · 04/10/2021 21:25

No, I'm isolating so there is fuck all else to do!

SleepingStandingUp · 04/10/2021 21:26

It's quite odd to post "I'm so happy something I play on a lot is broken so I don't play on it" as an adult. Just turn your phone off.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 04/10/2021 21:26

You know you can turn off notifications right?

Seafog · 04/10/2021 21:26

I haven't noticed, but I'm not happy about it either. Lots of people use those services to communicate, sell things, reach out for support; why would I want all those people to go without?

brittleheadgirl · 04/10/2021 21:27

What an odd post.
Aren't we all just mindlessly scrolling on Mumsnet?

Raffydon · 04/10/2021 21:27

Not bothered about fb or insta but WhatsApp is annoying

RedRiverShore · 04/10/2021 21:28

Never used any of them

museumum · 04/10/2021 21:29

No. I’ve just had a great weekend away and we were all going to share photos etc this evening on what’s app.
I’ve also got a couple of super supportive groups on Facebook I’ll miss.

TipseyTorvey · 04/10/2021 21:31

Reddit is up. Mumsnet is up. All good. Bit annoying with WhatsApp but we've all gone old school with email for the moment

SprayedWithDettol · 04/10/2021 21:33

I don’t use Facebook or Instagram, so no issues there. I use WhatsApp from time to time, but I can use texts so makes no difference.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 04/10/2021 21:34

No because I use messenger and WhatsApp to video chat with my Mum who lives abroad - phoning is expensive and she doesn't have an
iPhone so we can't FaceTime. I also use FB and Instagram for work. So I'm not happy.

Kite22 · 04/10/2021 21:36

Somewhat weird to be thrilled something you use a lot is missing.
I mean, if you don't want to use it, then don't use it. Confused

If you were planning to have a conversation with someone (or whatever else you do on any of them) then it is annoying.

lilacdinosaur · 04/10/2021 21:38

I haven't sat down today so I was quite looking forward to some mindless scrolling tonight actually.

Email them!

I’m just hoping Microsoft Teams goes down just in time for the start of the working day 😬

Now THAT would be bliss.

DontPeeInThePlayHouse · 04/10/2021 21:41

I'm not thrilled by it, but it doesn't bother me either. We use telegram anyway for chats and video calls so we haven't been affected.

Sign up to skype, get a meeting link (meet me now) and email it to her. She can click on it without having an account.

How come I have just been playing Scrabble on Facebook? Took three turns between 2130 and 2140
