My son’s football coach is also very charismatic, but I saw him in Tesco once and was shocked at the difference - he looked like a boring middle aged man. I think it’s seeing someone do something they love and are passionate about, it lights a person up.

Ooo this sounds promising and he sounds great! You can only regret the chances you didn’t take! Is there a chance you could see him during work face-to-face? Also, have you had one on one interaction online at all? I’d say reach out and talk, you never know. If he doesn’t pursue a conversation/ contact then you have your answer. Also, nothing wrong with being a single mum - it’s an absolute honour to be a mother and shows care and maturity and if any guy has an issue with it, then he isn’t worth it clearly!

Yeah we've had several 1-1's on zoom. He's known for being a bit brusque but is quite chatty with me.

He potentially could have become my line manager- but I'm now moving to another team so limited chances for 1-1s now. He messaged me to say thanks and looking forward to hearing how I get on in my new job....which I got stupidly excited about like a teenager- he still wants to talk to me! 😂

And yes hopefully will have the chance to see him in office soon. He even said about hopefully seeing me in the office soon. But it's probably just him being friendly.

That definitely doesn't sound like he's just being polite! It sounds like he likes you too.

Thing is, apparently there's a rule about not being allowed to directly line manage someone if you're seeing them... and he really wanted me for the role he would have line managed.... which makes me think that he just thinks I'm good at my job and that we get on professionally...

When I'm trying to convince myself he may like me, of course I tell myself that he's seen the silver lining now of not line managing me, and we've had several friendly zoom chats since 😂
