Policeman kicks 15 year old girl in the stomach

GreekTragedy · 01/10/2021 09:58

I couldn't see a thread about this so thought I'd start one.

I am completely shocked at this video.

This "officer" came out of nowhere and did a flying kick to a young girl!!

Now I can understand police getting a it violent in the heat of the moment but this? This is outright disgusting.

That officer should be charged.

What the fuck has happened to our police force??

She was being a dick. And there are consequences to that in the real world

What are these consequences that wouldn't land you in prison for assault?

MrsRobbieHart · 01/10/2021 12:21

Would you have been happier if he had used pepper spray or a baton?

I think those would have been unreasonable force too, but at least they are actual police training methods.

I suspect you don't think he should have restrained her at all

I think he should and could have restrained her without kicking her. Or tasering her or spraying her.

faithfulbird20 · 01/10/2021 12:21

Unfortunately yobs are the ones who become police officers. They should have a proper Education first and do some social work or something.

faithfulbird20 · 01/10/2021 12:22

It looks like WWE wrestling.

MrsRobbieHart · 01/10/2021 12:23

I would think fair enough.

She was being a dick. And there are consequences to that in the real world.

Wow. Presumably (hopefully) you don’t have a daughter then? Because we’re all dicks at times. So you’ve kicked your daughter, or son even? For being a dick?

hamstersarse · 01/10/2021 12:23

He could have possibly restrained her in a better way, yes.

But the girl also shouldn't be such a dick. He arrived at the scene to see one of his colleagues on the floor being attacked, with no idea whether this girl had a weapon or what was going on.

I think most humans would react in a similar way - get her the fuck out of the way!

LoisWilkers · 01/10/2021 12:23

@Porfre

Why was she attacking a Police Officer. It's not an excuse. But if she hadnt done this she wouldn't have been attacked
Victim shaming much?
Gilead · 01/10/2021 12:24

It’s appalling behaviour and equally appalling that officers are defending it. That’s how Couzens hadn’t been picked up earlier.

knittingaddict · 01/10/2021 12:25

@ILoveJamaica

Sorry, but she was in the wrong here. One woman was resisting arrest and the other was trying to manhandle the Officer. For all the Officers knew they could have weapons. I've been a Police Officer and my DH still is one. Unless you've done the job you have no idea how dangerous a situation like this is. You also don't know what the woman on the ground is being arrested for - she could have committed a serious crime.
Excellent. So can you tell me if kicking the lower torso (for those who don't like stomach) of people is standard operating procedure for arresting drunk people?
Comefromaway · 01/10/2021 12:25

She was drunk and in her mind her friend was being attacked by the police officer. She might know things about her friend (victim of abuse, autistic, etc etc) that led her to want to help her friend.

I'd do the same if it was my daughter.

MrsRobbieHart · 01/10/2021 12:25

I think most humans would react in a similar way - get her the fuck out of the way!

But the point is, the police are trained in very specific methods to deal with exactly these situations. So it’s not acceptable for you to just “get her out of the way” like Joe blogs on the street would. (Tbh I’m not sure Joe bloggs on the street would deem fly kicking necessary there) if you are police, you employ the methods that are approved to deal with it. You don’t get to panic and go in feet first.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:25

He ran into a scene, saw his colleague on the ground, saw the girl standing over the colleague
How is he to know what she is doing to him? She could be kicking him in the head, stomping on him, about to stab him.

I think the officer took the fastest action to get her out of the way.

WormYourHonour · 01/10/2021 12:26

Thanks to whoever posted the screen shots of the kick.

It makes it perfectly clear what happened.

The girl is stood sideways on, can't see the approaching officer.
The approaching officer has 2 feet on her height and, even though she's in a big coat and he's in a t-shirt, you can clearly see he s several several pounds over her weight too.
You can clearly see he kicks her, hard, in the midsection. It clearly shows he was a leg length away and he chose to kick instead of taking one more step and restraining the girl using proper upper body restraining techniques that he would have been taught.

So thanks for the picture, it really does clearly show that he was out of line and had many many options available to him instead of brute force kicking.

MrsRobbieHart · 01/10/2021 12:27

How is he to know what she is doing to him?

His eyes.

ohfourfoxache · 01/10/2021 12:27

She should have been restrained in a way that was within guidance. Officers are trained in this

They are not trained in fly kicking as this is not an appropriate method to use

I couldn’t give a shit about “how people react” when faced with trying to de-escalate a situation. That is what training is for. Do you think it is acceptable for healthcare staff to just do what they feel like doing and make themselves feel all powerful rather than something that is in the best interests of a patient? Because, hey, no one knows how they would react under pressure. No. Because they are trained. And training means that you do the right thing. You don’t go off piste and act like a thug

yourhairiswinterfire · 01/10/2021 12:28

Funny that the female officer didn't dive in and boot a child in the abdomen, isn't it?

She saw the same scene as the male officer.

Yep.

Lol but surely you can imagine in that situation you just have to quickly take action before she does something?

You're telling us now that the girl in the screen shot of the video might have had a weapon? Was standing over an officer ready to stab him?

Yeah, looks.more like she was trying to put her shoe back on..

Any parent who doesn't tell their children that there will be consequences to being a dick is doing them a disservice IMO yes. Other people may not react well / proportionately / as you expect to you being a dick

Depending on the level of dick-ness, there will be varying consequences

If 'being a dick' means resisting arrest to a police officer and being aggressive to them, I would hope I have absolutely told them that that is never going to end well and I would not be defending their actions.

If this girl had not been acting like a dick, let's face it, this wouldn't have happened.

@yourhairiswinterfire abso-fucking-loutely

Lol, yeah, so I’d employ my training. Lol.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:30

@WormYourHonour
No, I'm trying to imagine what a police officer going into that situation might be thinking about all the possibilities??

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 01/10/2021 12:30

@MrsRobbieHart

So what is that? Are kicks not allowed at all?
