counsellingresource.com/quizzes/adhd-testing/adhd/

I've done this quiz which is meant to provide an estimate of whether you might have ADHD. It shouldn't be used for diagnosis, there are lot of caveats for it.

But I am thinking "but surely everyone does that" about a lot of the questions. I'd be really interested to get a range of answers from a range of people, if anyone is willing to share.

For what it's worth, I've done it twice on different days, scored 76 and 62. Their threshold for "possible ADHD" is 70+. I don't really believe anyone can score less than 50 and I'd be fascinated to know if I'm wrong.

“I have a diagnosis of ASD. I'm not surprised I got a high score on this test. My previous manager suggested I get assessed and I thought I was managing quite well at work. But that's the problem. Other people can see it even when I not experiencing it as a problem or think I have it under control. I would think it was highly unlikely that someone could score highly and it have no impact on their Iife at all. After all its a disorder characterised by difference. But in answer to your question, I probably wouldn't seek a diagnosis. I think I'd find it hard to come to terms with having ASD and ADHD. I already ask for the things I need at work so 'reasonable adjustments' are made without peope realising that's what they're doing and the other stuff, well I just deal with it and hope I don't come too unstuck.”

It does have an impact about but I just put it down to being how I am not because there was a possible reason it for if that makes sense, so it hasn’t bothered me other than feeling stressed but just assumed other people would be the same? But now that I’ve seen it in context of these possible symptoms it’s made me think!

Really helpful reply though so thanks for taking the time to respond.

I scored 84, and it's been interesting flicking through this thread as I thought for many the questions 'doesn't everyone do that? ", Clearly not!! Grin

I've suspected that I have ADHD for a while, on the back of a previous thread actually. I went to my GP about it last week, and she agreed with me, but told me I'd be waiting almost a year for a diagnosis on the NHS.

I could go privately, but I literally have no idea where to start. can anyone advise? Do you just google local psychiatrists?

  1. I think I have ASD but maybe I should consider ADHD too.
HadEnoughOfBears · 06/10/2021 23:56

I got 80

Woah

I've thought Asperger / HFA for a while but I don't 'fit' with the typical adhd traits

I'm so planned and organised.

  1. Yikes
Lemonysnicker · 16/01/2022 00:01

53

DaisyWaldron · 16/01/2022 00:01

65, which is in the "not ADHD" zone. I have a diagnosis of moderate inattentive ADHD. The questions didn't really have that much to do with how my ADHD affects me.

foxlover47 · 16/01/2022 00:02

91 😳

Lesina · 16/01/2022 00:07

I couldn’t complete it. Too many questions.

BoxingDayFoodHangover · 16/01/2022 00:10

I scored 83. Im currently considering whether I should go for a diagnosis or not as suspected I have it for a while now.

For those of you who have been diagnosed, has it had any tangible positive influence on your life?

southern82 · 16/01/2022 00:12

I scored 50, I am autistic and some of the questions can be the same for both ADHD and Autism

Jenasaurus · 16/01/2022 00:14

otal score of: 103
(70 or Above, High Probability of ADHD)
Your answers to this adult ADHD screening test total 70 or over, which is associated with a high probability of ADHD. However, the diagnosis of ADD can only be made on the basis of a detailed history and mental status examination. High scores on this examination may result from anxiety, depression or mania. These conditions must be ruled out before a diagnosis of Adult ADD can be made.

Jenasaurus · 16/01/2022 00:15

investigated for suspected BiPolar not sure if connected but im 56 now and coping ok, although my family say I often talk too much and say the wrong thing.

GlamourSpider · 16/01/2022 00:20

17 for me

Cailleach · 16/01/2022 00:20

Already diagnosed autistic but suspect there is more going on...just can't be arsed getting a diagnosis, suspect meds would make a huge difference.

LosingMySh1t · 16/01/2022 00:20

@Jenasaurus - no idea if you will mind my saying this but it is now well known that many women have been diagnosed with mental health issues, bipolar, schizophrenia etc, when actually they're autistic.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I'm so sad that many women (I assuming they're women) on here are saying what's the point in finding out, don't want to take drugs etc, and can't help feeling that yet again it's because we've a long history of being told to put up and shut up.

I cannot properly convey the difference medicine has made to my life since being diagnosed.

It's definitely a bitter sweet experience because of all those years lost to ADD, and not understanding autism, but being able to finally organise a piss up in a brewery, and not using all my energy just to "cope" and fit in, has been life changing.
