counsellingresource.com/quizzes/adhd-testing/adhd/

I've done this quiz which is meant to provide an estimate of whether you might have ADHD. It shouldn't be used for diagnosis, there are lot of caveats for it.

But I am thinking "but surely everyone does that" about a lot of the questions. I'd be really interested to get a range of answers from a range of people, if anyone is willing to share.

For what it's worth, I've done it twice on different days, scored 76 and 62. Their threshold for "possible ADHD" is 70+. I don't really believe anyone can score less than 50 and I'd be fascinated to know if I'm wrong.

@Cailleach - Grinx post!

I'm firmly of the opinion that one day we will find that ADHD/ADD will be seen as part of the ASC. Everyone I know with adhd or who's autistic seems to me to have all at the same time (I think it is just one of the traits). But that's just my scientific poll of about 12 people!

2YearsOfWastedTime · 16/01/2022 00:29

I scored 38
Partner scored 70 but i think his on the spectrum somewhere anyway

AlexaShutUp · 16/01/2022 00:34

I scored 98. I have strongly suspected adhd for a few years now but only recently started on the path towards diagnosis. I would be astonished if I don't have it.

Jenasaurus · 16/01/2022 00:34
@Jenasaurus - no idea if you will mind my saying this but it is now well known that many women have been diagnosed with mental health issues, bipolar, schizophrenia etc, when actually they're autistic.

I know this is a bit of an old thread, but I'm so sad that many women (I assuming they're women) on here are saying what's the point in finding out, don't want to take drugs etc, and can't help feeling that yet again it's because we've a long history of being told to put up and shut up.

I cannot properly convey the difference medicine has made to my life since being diagnosed.

It's definitely a bitter sweet experience because of all those years lost to ADD, and not understanding autism, but being able to finally organise a piss up in a brewery, and not using all my energy just to "cope" and fit in, has been life changing.
Not at all I sort of agree with you on this one.

My DD studied ADD/ADHD and other issues as part of her degree and says she can recognise a lot of the signs in me so that would make sense.

yogafairy · 16/01/2022 00:36

This is an old thread from last year but I did the test anyway out of sheer nosiness and an inability to sleep and scored 4.

 1. Is in line with what I thought
Phrenologistsfinger · 16/01/2022 00:52

100 - I have ADHD (inattentive) though Grin

freckles20 · 16/01/2022 01:10

I scored 117. I have ADHD. I answered unmedicated. When medicated my answers would be different.

The perception that 'everyone' suffered with Adhd traits is quite tricky to hear sometimes. It often seems to be said in a way that suggests that the condition isn't real, or that sufferers should 'suck it up' like everyone else.

The key is how severe the traits are and the effect that they have on all areas of your life.

beautifullymad · 16/01/2022 01:10

96! Oh dear. Always suspected this and my children are being assessed for it.
My head is full Of ping pong balls and I need copious amounts of coffee to focus.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/01/2022 01:18

BluebellsareBlue · 16/01/2022 01:18

Snap. 22. Although I do read on here about traits of people with ADHD and I do seem to share them. However I do feel that I could overcome that if I tried to. So maybe 22 is correct.

Gingernaut · 16/01/2022 01:22

I think the perception that "everyone is like this" is partly what has prevented me from seeking a diagnosis all these years. Well, that and a complete lack of executive function.

Time and again, I have berated myself for being lazy and lacking willpower. Time and again, I have told myself that I will sort myself out, become more disciplined. It never happens, and then I hate myself for my perceived failings. But I just can't do it. No matter how many pep talks I give myself, no matter how many lists I make, no matter how many strategies I employ, no matter how many productivity books I buy, my brain just won't do what I want it to do. I can't function effectively and I can't afford to live with the impact of that any longer.

Of course, everyone experiences difficulties with motivation sometimes. Everyone procrastinates sometimes. Everyone loses attention sometimes. But I have finally accepted that not everyone goes through life finding ordinary tasks as insurmountable as I do. Not everyone feels paralysed by the tiniest things. And not everyone is capable of the kind of hyperfocus that I have when my brain is in flow.

Deep down, I think I have always known that my brain works differently from most people's brains, but for years, I have tried to convince myself that it's just a lack of self discipline. I have finally accepted now that there is something else going on.

GalaxyPostcard · 16/01/2022 01:30

37 but everything that I answered 'yes' to are things that are also associated with autism, which I have.

GalaxyPostcard · 16/01/2022 01:31

@BoxingDayFoodHangover

I scored 83. Im currently considering whether I should go for a diagnosis or not as suspected I have it for a while now.

For those of you who have been diagnosed, has it had any tangible positive influence on your life?

DP was diagnosed formally recently and it has changed her life. Even from just feeling less 'weird' and being able to understand how she feels and why. She has started medication recently and it has been a gamechanger in her work and home life. I'd recommend seeking a diagnosis! DP went private as it's hard to get an NHS diagnosis.
SkalengeckOrSiegbarste · 16/01/2022 01:32

Total score of: 70
(70 or Above, High Probability of ADHD)
Just within, but I have depression & anxiety & felt many of these questions could link to that rather than just ADHD.

LemonMuffins · 16/01/2022 01:37

I know this is a zombie but I scored 4.

KingofQueens · 16/01/2022 01:41
 1. I've never considered myself to have ADHD.
