Would you do this ADHD diagnostic quiz and share your answer?

counsellingresource.com/quizzes/adhd-testing/adhd/

I've done this quiz which is meant to provide an estimate of whether you might have ADHD. It shouldn't be used for diagnosis, there are lot of caveats for it.

But I am thinking "but surely everyone does that" about a lot of the questions. I'd be really interested to get a range of answers from a range of people, if anyone is willing to share.

For what it's worth, I've done it twice on different days, scored 76 and 62. Their threshold for "possible ADHD" is 70+. I don't really believe anyone can score less than 50 and I'd be fascinated to know if I'm wrong.

I got 85 and my daughter has adhd. I think it's likely I do too.

Blueberryflavour · 27/09/2021 22:53

I scored 17 I am lazy but have good focus when required. I have some hearing loss which forces me to pay more attention as well. I don’t have ADHD which is probably good as my DS has ADHD so 2 of us in one house would be a challenge, he would probably score at the top end of the scale as his ADHD impacts on him a lot.

  1. No point trying for assessment where I live, the waiting lists are huge.
Squashpocket · 27/09/2021 22:54

10 for me. None of those things describe me at all. I absolutely have never felt like that in my life and I promise I'm not lying. I definitely couldn't score 50, honestly.

PrtScn · 27/09/2021 22:54

I got 47. No diagnosis, although it would probably be inattentive if I did

Cakeofdoom · 27/09/2021 22:55

93, awaiting an ADHD assessment after a referral to Psychiatry by my GP back in May after a similar screening. Have heard nothing though, not even a 'you are on a waiting list' letter

coastergirl · 27/09/2021 22:55

I got 90. Long suspected autism. I had an assessment for aspergers 6 years ago but they used the standard tools they use for 5 year old boys. There's much more understanding about women masking now and better assessments. My 6 year old is about to be diagnosed with autism too.

32

womaninatightspot · 27/09/2021 22:57

41 for me

Senga67 · 27/09/2021 22:58

I scored 5

HereticFanjo · 27/09/2021 22:59

@WaltzingBetty

82 Undiagnosed but suspected ADHD for a while. It stops me from getting around to organising a diagnosis....
98 and as above!
PalacesOfMontezuma · 27/09/2021 22:59

I've suspected for a while now that I may have it... I scored 90.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/09/2021 23:00

I scored 19.

Doyoumind · 27/09/2021 23:01

I got 97. I'm not diagnosed but have become more and more sure it's the reason for a lot of my issues.

imageforu · 27/09/2021 23:01

I got 51. I have some ADHD-y tendencies, but very mild and nothing worth diagnosing or medicating.

HalzTangz · 27/09/2021 23:01

I scored 13.

My partner who is diagnosed ADHD scored 92

Psychonabike · 27/09/2021 23:02

Thanks for posting, good questions for adults in this screening test, haven't seen it before.

I scored 18.

2 of my children have ADHD, as does DH.

We joke that our house remains organised despite this because I really don't have any ADHD characteristics. This was proof!

junebirthdaygirl · 27/09/2021 23:03

4 for me and none of them applied to me. I probably pressed just a little to be totally hard on myself but could have easily scored 0 . But concentration has never been an issue for me.

wtfisgoingonn · 27/09/2021 23:03

@OooPourUsACupLove right, that's sorta my point though? You will struggle in at least two areas of your life (perhaps not knowing why) but if someone mentions it, or you stumble across it, and you go and read the diagnostic criteria, most people are going to have a lightbulb / jaw drop moment?

The post I was replying to made it sound like it's something that needs to be tested for. Like a smear test / cervical screening "but how do you know you have it if you've never been tested?".

My point is that it's rarely lurking dormant inside of us completely unbeknownst to ourselves and everyone around us. You might not know it has a name, but you know.

Same with an undiagnosed neurodiversity.

What do you mean by "neurodiversity" though? Are you referring to ASD? If so, I can't comment because I have no idea about the diagnostic criteria or the process.

But you really can't just turn up for ADHD diagnosis and say you'd quite like one even though it's not seriously affecting you. There has to be clear evidence that it is in order to get a diagnosis.

(And I'm not saying you can't be skilled professional etc - I am one myself. Of course everyone who seeks diagnosis wants to know if they're just lazy/ not good enough - that's the terrifying part about it! But that in itself isn't enough to actually get diagnosed. The symptoms need to be disabling and you need to evidence that - that was my point, that it's not something just sitting there silently doing no harm and you'd be oblivious to it if you hadn't taken "the test").

junebirthdaygirl · 27/09/2021 23:06

I scored it for dh whom l always suspect has ADHD and he scored 101!! So might be on to something. He is the complete opposite of me.

ffsgivemestrength · 27/09/2021 23:07

I got 76 which is interesting as I have a very 'noisy busy mind and find it very difficult to switch off. I am genuinely shocked that some people are getting scores in the teens.. I can't even imagine that ! I'd love to have a quiet mind... my mind can be exhausting in a bad way.

Mummyoply · 27/09/2021 23:07

I got 17, I do not have ADHD

RosewoodBox · 27/09/2021 23:09
  1. Pretty accurate for me I think!
